You know, AA, every episode doesn't have to contain fireworks. I'd be perfectly happy to watch a long form where you just slowly play through the game and build toward an awesome fortress. Don't pressure yourself to make every episode something that gets more and more whacky, or explosive, or mad. We won't get bored. We ain't going anywhere.

Name dwarves after people donating so that you have specific ones to watch. See who dies in battle, goes insane, has a bunch of kids, etc. Check the descriptions of the nicer artifacts you get too; sometimes they're interesting.

You keep explaining that you are still learning the game, playing recklessly on purpose to learn, but there is no explanation needed! You are playing the game in exactly the correct way: fun paid for with dwarven blood. I am usually not really into long-format lets plays but I had so much fun watching this series. I love DF and I hope you return to this game soon!

Goblin sieges won't happen if there are no goblins close enough to reach you. Same with zombies, you typically need to be in or near an "evil" biome or near a necromancer tower. Werebeasts, forgotten beasts, colossus etc tend to roam so they're the most likely threat is you're in an otherwise "safe" area.

Hey since I've noticed you've complained a fair bit about the amount of scrolling.. You can hold shift+scroll to go by ten floors at a time or a full page of scrolling in any menu. Will also make your wasd jumps a bit more EXTREME. hahah. Enjoy. OH also I found out in the item menus you can minimize sections of the menu by clicking on the bars in the list to the right. Idk why they have no indicator to show that. BUT YOU CAN. I know you're a power user, so Im sure you'll enjoy these small adjustments. Makes it convenient to quickly compare what your stocks of different materials are for example. Idk why no one tells you these things. Less time spent in menus the better. *Maybe I should finish out watching the video before commenting lol. Least you are aware of shift scroll. Just remember it works in menus too.

Can't speak for everyone, but I strongly prefer the serialized content, though it depends on what it is (ie, Kenshi and Zomboid are things you mentioned that still work with very long videos). If I see that a video is like 4+ hours, I always have to question if I really want to commit that many hours to one video, and if I don't do it in one sitting, I risk losing my place if for some reason my browser decides to reload the page later. What I can't stand is the youtubers who split up their videos but DON'T number them and instead give them unique names, so if I want to watch the series, I have to go into their video list and manually look for which video is supposed to come next (because usually youtube's next recommended video isn't that).
@ambiguousamphibianvods
@ambiguousamphibianvods Жыл бұрын
Fair point! Thanks for the idea - that's also a consideration. Something I'd like to experiment with for maybe 3 or 4 of the next serialized things. Mostly it's just the awkward trail of sequels that usually keeps me going for a max of about 4 videos. Something I'd like to try a couple times and see how I like it/how it works on the platform, etc. Sometimes it seems like KZfaq likes it when everything clearly leads back to one video, but I might be mistaken. Definitely would have a lot of indexing to make it easily searchable/scrubbable. I too have eclectic tastes and enjoy longer episodic stuff, though in reference to episode numbers, I think a lot of people avoid putting numbers, and just make it all seem like everything is an episode 1 since it helps with discoverability. It's been a long time since I heavily did serialized stuff like that on the main channel, though it often has a tendency to feel bad if you launch a series and the pilot doesn't really get recommended to anyone. That's pretty much the main reason I'd like to give it a try here, though it keeps KZfaq's mysteries interesting to me!
@typical_name8682
@typical_name8682 Жыл бұрын
@@ambiguousamphibianvods Yeah, the youtuber I was thinking of said something similar, about the algorithm supposedly rewarding you for pretending like every episode is Episode 1, but I absolutely HATED that. I entirely stopped watching Arumba pretty much because it was such a colossal pain to keep track of any given series. It sucks that youtube seems to deliberately design things to be annoying. :(

@@typical_name8682 - How do you lose your place? Just use your library to go back to the video. Also, I think the number of likes you have here demonstrates much of the community feel the long form VODs are great. Not saying you're wrong, of course, we're all different - just hope AA hasn't taken this as a consensus. Many more people seem quite happy to commit to a few hours. Works great for me to listen along while I'm working - I don't have to find another video every 20 minutes. 😂

@@WATCH.ME.DIE. ... Huh? What "library" are you talking about??? Wtf are you talking about with my number of likes? I don't run a youtube channel and haven't attempted to do so in years. I feel like you're deliberately twisting my words. I'm saying that the current video format AA does is fine, I was responding to the proposed change towards having the videos be significantly longer. 20 minutes would obviously be too short.

This is a great game to play, but a terrible viewer experience, just the way it is. This is coming from someone who loves the game btw, but thats also because im neurotic and am into this kinda game but it's not an easy to digest viewer experience for anyone who doesn't play. You would need to have very specific idea's in order to coax the game into giving you something that you could THEN edit down in a presentable way , like how kruggsmash does with stories. At that point its probably not worth the time /effort.
