Hey Tim! There were a lot of throwing weapons in this game! They were always used when possible we just didn't capture it all otherwise there would have been a lot more editing. I am keen to get back up there mate! I am keeping a close eye on the tournament calendar

Thanks for the comment. The Grimhammers were always using thier throwing weapons they just didn't do much hahaha. Easterlings are very strong. A lot of people really rate the Dragon Emperor but I don't find him that scary. With such a big base he is very hard to manuver. In this game he certainly didn't do much in combat.

@@ConquestCreations Ah, makes sense, I figured as much; Grimhammers definitely suffer a little when the throwing axes aren't doing any damage because of the 5 inch move limiting your maneuvering some. And yeah, the thing with the Dragon Emperor isn't that he brings a lot in combat (although he certainly does, F6 with 3 might, an Elven blade, and 6 extra S3 attacks if he wins is pretty potent, base size or not, with Resistant to Magic), it's more that what he brings in terms of special rules and list building value is what puts his cost a little low imo. Even if you never try to maneuver him into combat, you're still getting a 6-inch banner, which, with the base size and the 'death ball' style of play that you'll generally go with with the Easterlings, covers the entire 'effective' battlefield, as well as a board-wide Stand Fast, which affects heroes and is free the first time, plus the 18 man warband he can bring. What really does it for me though is the combination of the free Black Dragon upgrade AND the 6 inch +1 fight value buff. Combined, those two special rules let you essentially take a pike block of 12 elves with pikes and 6 with sword and shield for about 40 points less (about 160 pts vs. about 200 pts.) than it costs to ACTUALLY bring the equivalent number of elves, but with more tactical value due to Phalanx, and that is huge. That's 5 extra regular warriors you can bring (give or take when you factor in Dragon Emperor cost vs. other heroes you'd be bringing) and still have the F5 block anchoring your line with the Emperor just chilling in the back til you really need him. Even with only S3, that is pretty tough for most armies to match, and that's without even getting the Emperor into combat, so the base size doesn't play as much into things I think. He's arguably a better support hero than fully geared up Boromir (who is an AMAZING support hero) and is still reasonably compared in combat for 40 pts less, and as a final addendum, you can always get off the palanquin late game, and have a pretty beefy hero and 6 free F4 D6 guys to tag objectives when your opponent is probably on the ropes numbers-wise. If you're forced to fight with him, it's a bit of a struggle, but you build the army so you don't have to rely on him fighting, and then he's incredible, definitely about 15-30 pts too cheap in my mind. Bump him up to 190-200 and I'm more happy. That got a little long there, but I think I got the point out there.

I totally agree with you. At that stage in the game it was his courage vs mine and with Thrain's Battle field wide stand fast that would keep my heroes around I had an advantage but I certainly underestimated their courage
