@@karlimo4034: people in a hierarchy tend to rise to "a level of respective incompetence". In other words: Michael Scott is a talented salesman who rised in the ranks of his company (Dundler Mifflin is a commercial company that sales paper). The problem arrived when Michael got promoted to branch manager, a role that it is way off his skills, so he stalls in that position. In real life this stuff happens and once the person has reached the 'incompetence level' the person remains there, as further advances are impossible and in most organizations a demotion back to the old position is a rare event. Exceptions apply, of course.

@@diegoferreiro9478while Michael is pretty awful at many aspects of being a boss, overall he's actually pretty effective as a manager, and decently well liked. I mean, under a little suspension of disbelief about how well people take being bullied by their boss. not really the same as Dwight setting fires and bringing a gun in, at any rate.

@@karlimo4034it’s a theory in business/employment that people will be promoted to the level of their incompetence. Meaning that someone who is good at one job will be promoted until they’re in a job they’re not good at. In micheals case he was an excellent salesman and was promoted because of that, but he is a terrible boss/manager

No, he isn’t. He may be the best salesperson, but there’s nothing to indicate he was better than all of the other salespeople combined. If anything, he was just marginally better than Jim. Dwight despute being best wouldn’t have even been responsible for 40% of the branch’s total sales, let alone 90%. The branch had multiple salespeople - Dwight, Jim, Andy, Stanley, Phyllis, Pam (briefly), Karen (briefly), etc.
