If I had a nickel for every time in recent memory a major game developer made a "sequel" that was actually released as an update for, and thus a replacement to, the previous game, I'd have two nickels... which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice in recent memory. Let's talk about that...

What also sucks is that seemingly a majority of people accept these practices and defend it with all kind of silly excuses, like "You signed the EULA". People really became corporate boot lickers. And Valve at least lets you play CS:GO against Bots and in Private Matchee, but it's still an anto consumer move and they broke the inventory, meaning you can't equip the MP5SD, USP-S or R8 anymore.

EULAs mean nothing if they conflict with local, state, or federal laws. But yeah, gamers in general just let companies get away with whatever they want. Back in the 90s or early 2000s, a dumpster fire like Battlefield 2042 would spell the end of the company that made it... not so these days.

Most anticheat software would be more effective as a text file in the game directory consisting of the words "plz dont cheat kthxbye". TF2 has been rampant with cheaters for years. Having a small paywall does a lot to prevent cheaters - notice that all these games used to be pay to play.
@DWTerminator
@DWTerminator 3 ай бұрын
Weirdly enough I haven't felt like I've run into any cheaters playing Overwatch 1 & 2, but I think that's mostly because the game is more reliant on hero matchups and ability use, so typical FPS cheats don't actually give you a significant advantage like they do in, say, CS.

The current state of Half-Life Source already proved that Valve doesn’t really care about preservation. If they did the game wouldn’t have become such a dumpster fire after Steam Pipeline became a thing. GOG on the other hand actually tries to keep games on their platform working with modern systems, is drm free, and you actually own your games (unlike Steam and other platforms where Ubisoft can just delist games you already paid for).

Dark Souls PtDE used Games for Windows Live, which shut down and now causes all manner of issues with getting games to run properly. Dark Souls Remastered both doesn't have that and is legitimately a far superior version of the game. Bethesda unlisted the legacy version of Skyrim on Steam but you can still find it and buy it if you really want. Longarms recoil directly back into your shoulder and will end up moving upwards to the right or left depending on whether you're right or left handed. Handguns do sort of the same thing but the recoil goes back into the hands, wrists, and forearms instead of the shoulder. It's certainly not like the patterns in Counter-Strike but you could definitely still describe it as a recoil pattern.

Me and a couple of buddies got into a bit of CS 2 when it updated. Haven't played CS in years, and we had fun. It seemed to run rocksolid on my system, FPS never dipped below my system's hard cap. Still very satisfying, and quick gameplay. Nothing crazy that I'm going to get back into CS, but its alright for what it is. My only gripe with it, is the AWP gameplay, choke points and maps. Wish they designed more maps that changed up the gameplay, I hate racing to choke point and nade spamming, with the match coming down to which team has the better AWPER. Would love a more Battlefield style game mode, with an open map and respawning, with CS's gunplay.

This is just another symptom of the much bigger problem that "The Digital Age" has brought us. Since we buy everything digital these days, we own no true property, therefore we legally have no property rights. If these games were bought physically, than they would still be able to be played at our own leisure, but since everything is digital and the developers/publishers can alter anything and everything instantly via online patching, whether we like it or not, theres nothing we can do about this.

Getting better in CS leads to you having more fun. What isn't fun, is if player's sole aim is to win, thus learning and getting better at game takes a backseat! I mean, you gotta play with mindset which allows you capability to enjoy and learn from playing matches against strong and better opponents, because that's the time when you have to show what you've got and that's where you can gain the most experience! I agree, that the main issue CS2 have by far, is that it have no game modes to attract new&casual players! Without new players, it' s inevitable that that player numbers will dwindle and game will die. For cheaters, now that the CPH major is over, it's now Valve's top priority to solve that issue! Looking forward to AI anticheat news, and upcoming ban waves! Anyway, cheating issue is prevelant mostly for higher ranks. The cheaters gets into the higher ranks quickly, so you don't have to worry about them that much, if you're below 15k rank.

In the past I asked you if you’d review Sony’s “Halo Killers” Killzone and Resistance (we all know the true Halo Killer was itself😂), and you responded that they’re on your list. Will that be anytime soon, or not for a while since you’re dealing with real life and have plenty of other more pressing games to cover (I’m assuming the latter is why you only seem to have two Zelda videos)? I’m also assuming you have similar thoughts about those games as you do for Halo where at their best they’re not really anything to write home about, the fanbases are absolute cancer (the Halo community is basically the Sonic fandom of fps games), and the lore has cool concept but it’s not super thought out and doesn’t make a whole lot of sense (what Sony should do is put a bunch of their games from their back catalogue on Steam/GOG so they can be preserved and more people can play them). Speaking of Halo, I grew up with the series so it has a special place in my heart. But, I’m not going to pretend like it’s this masterpiece that can’t be criticized, and recently I’ve been getting into far better games after delving more into pc. I’m able to look fondly at the better entries and have fun with them. But, I’m also willing to admit they have various flaws in the story/gameplay that should’ve been fixed by not or better yet never happened in the first place (3 has has by far the WORST story of the Bungie games. It REALLY hows that Bungie was just using the scraps from 2’s scrapped third act and were just filling out a checklist of things that needed to happen, and put little to no thought into how they’d connect). I probably should’ve jumped ship a lot sooner and I’m sure I’ve fallen into the lost cause fallacy.

CS's monetization directly from Valve has always been pretty low and they generally aren't shoved in your face like most modern live service games. The secondary skin market is where the prices get ridiculous. Meanwhile OW2 charges you stupidly high prices for stuff you would've just unlocked for free while playing OW1, switched all progression over to a battle pass system, and subsequently tries to push you into buying the battle passes *constantly*. It's the difference between a game that has microtransactions (CSGO/2) and a microtransaction store that has a game attached to it (OW2).
@stefanmayer9047
@stefanmayer9047 3 ай бұрын
@DWTerminator @DWTerminator @DWTerminator 1. Valve takes a cut of all of those third party transactions, so that's not really an argument. 2. "Case Unboxings" (read: gambling) are a pretty huge part of the culture of Counter-Strike at this point, so it seems pretty silly to say that it's a small part of its model. 3. Overwatch 2 has a progression system not tied to the battle pass (hero levels / profile level) 4. Overwatch 1 skins can be earned for free pretty quickly--the free track of the battle pass gives you enough OW1 credits to earn 1 legendary skin a season, and you can earn more with weeklies tied to the progression challenges. 5. Battle passes will also give you 600 premium currency (6 dollars worth) starting next season, which is enough to earn a battle pass for free every other season. 6. Heroes are no longer in the battle pass and unlocked free for everyone. They've done a lot that it just seems like you don't know about in this video. The monetization at OW2 launch was pretty bad, but CS2's monetization is literal gambling at a much higher price than even the most expensive OW2 skins.

Two games I used to love and don't/can't play anymore. These 2 products are less about being games and are more about being ecosystems for people to spend money in and I am not interested in that scene at all. Not only does the gameplay and development take a backseat but the communities themselves have less social glue holding them together and become more toxic when people are hooked to the game like addicts because of skins, financial investment, and season passes rather than it being about fun and pure love of the game that keeps them coming back. Just like you said, people spent so much and were invested in their old skins, they wanted to keep their old skins more than they wanted a newer, better game - really tells you what the people playing these actually care about that a dumb skin for an item in the game is more important than the actual game itself. Playing these modern economy-driven games feels just like going to a seedy casino and spending time surrounded by unhappy degenerates who waste their lives and money there because they can't stop themselves coming back.

@@DWTerminator Sure, things can always be better and they will improve. Again, I know it's the number one complaint but that doesn't make it true or not overblown. It's just idiots repeating the popular opinion. You do realize just because something is popular that doesn't make it true right? So I ask again, how many cheaters did you encounter? I was expecting a little more effort from you than just regurgitating popular reddit posts. The vast majority of cheating allegations, unless it's obvious spinbots, are always false because that's just how the majority of playerbase, who are shitters at the game, respond when they encounter someone better than them in a video game. If you want to actually figure out what's going on, I suggest watching Richard Lewis's "The dumb over reaction to CS2". He dispels all the popular myths you've been told.
@DWTerminator
@DWTerminator 3 ай бұрын
"how many cheaters did you encounter?" - Personally? None that were blatantly obvious, but I only played a few matches of CS2 online in the lead-up to this video and it's not like this is intended to be a comprehensive review in the first place. Honestly even if I had, and even if I had gameplay footage of it, you'd still act like I'm exaggerating the problem. "I was expecting a little more effort from you than just regurgitating popular reddit posts" - More like I looked at the Steam reviews and discussions to see what the general buzz around the game is... which I do precisely because having only my personal perspective on the game is a very narrow view. Reddit's a cesspool most of the time so I rarely, if ever, take Reddit posts at face value. Steam reviews and discussions admittedly aren't a lot better (for example they give the impression that Overwatch 2 is practically the worst game ever made), but they're usually not quite as "neckbeardy" as Reddit, at least. "The vast majority of cheating allegations, unless it's obvious spinbots, are always false" - While you're not entirely wrong, it doesn't take much to hide wallhacks (or I guess they're called ESP cheats now) so that it's not completely obvious you're cheating... and they're by far the most commonly used cheats not only in CS but across all games. That also doesn't really matter much when general trust in the player base has eroded so severely from how prevalent cheaters actually are. After all, when there's a huge number of actual, painfully obvious cheaters running wild throughout the game for months without ever being caught or banned, why *should* you give the other players the benefit of the doubt? Besides, I've been playing CS on and off for close to 20 years (not to mention the rest of Valve's games). You seriously think I haven't run into plenty of cheaters in that time and don't know how pathetically ineffective VAC has been (and still is, really) at containing the problem? And I decided against watching that video when I found out it's over 4 hours long. Even when a video's covering something I'm truly interested in, I have a really hard time justifying watching it if it's that long.
