This is the only 6th gen CoD i don't like, and even more i would call it a showelware game. Every other ps2 cod game was great (well CoD 3 plays better on xbox, xbox 360 and ps3 but still the game is awesome). But Final Fronts is just bad. Way worse than ds cod games, and even worse than psp cod. The reason i value it so low is simply due to how unfinished it is. It's nowhere near the level of quality of all the previous cod games on ps2, and it looks like crap in comparison to most ps2 shooters. There were even better java cod games (like CoD 3 for sony ericsson).

I don't really agree with your take on fallout 3, I think even though the lore was a bit problematic, the gameplay was good and the art style was also good. I didn't mind the more "apocalyptic" vibe they had for it, I thought it was a nice difference from the post post apocalypic western world of fallout 1 2 and new vegas. it wasn't until 4 came out that the problems really started to show, and it just got consistently worse with every new release bethesda did. Since the show came out and the lore retcons they made, i just stopped caring about the fallout franchise completely and have given up on it. They don't make fallout for us anymore, it's for a whole new generation of "fans".

I assume you haven't played 3 in a long time and are just going by nostalgic memories. It's an absolute chore to play and the writing in general is so awful it only makes that tedious slog even worse. Bethesda's output has been getting continually worse since Morrowind (I'd say since Daggerfall but Battlespire and Redguard were side projects and Morrowind was good enough to make those seem like flukes), and they show no signs of even *attempting* to improve.

I bought this game on the steam summer sale today because it was cheap. Some of the abilities don't even seem to work (the Yeoman can get a skill where you get +1 gold per day from the city. You do not get this gold. I went searching to find any reasons why; and I found this video. I wish I had watched it before I made my purchase.

There are at least now squad commands it seems, granted they're super basic. (Fire at Will/Hold Fire and Follow/Stop) though you do at least have a "cover area" command where your teammates will focus on looking at the area in your crosshairs, which is at least handy for having them watch doorways and such if you're firing from a window to cover you. (Though you can only order the whole squad at once.) It's a shame this game ended up the way it did, I do believe it was on the right track for a tactical squad based shooter and the twist of being a PMC that means you sometimes basically play as the bad guy is cool but it's just way too clearly undercooked. (and the way they went heavily into AR-15 platform weapons so they could basically add a ton of guns with shared assets seems like a pretty smart way to have a decent selection with an indie budget.) Sure the tactical shooter genre has somewhat seen a resurgence but it's primarily PVP focused games like Insurgency to my knowledge, there's not alot of single player squad command ones that strike a nice slow paced niche. Crime Boss: Rockay City also published by 505 managed to somewhat turn things around after launch and it's a shame this game didn't manage it.

When it comes to ww2 soundtracks in video games, there’s the first two Medal of Honor games and frontline (all but five songs in allied assault are reused from the first two games) and the rest is all generic ww2 music, maybe expect for the sniper elite theme preferably the one heard in the original. And maybe return to castle wolfenstein, but does that one really count as a ww2 shooter? Too much SCI-FI and other outlandish things, but you know what I’d take RTCW over all of the ww2 shooters.

Too long, don't read: I grew up thinking Halo was overrated but recently replayed it and changed my mind. I actually started playing Halo 1 again recently. I haven't played it since a kid and while I beat it, I never understood the story and the games afterwards were spent playing multiplayer with friends and family. I've always thought the halo series was overrated and never wanted to replay the series for the single player campaign until recently. Let me start by saying this.... Halo 1 was completely ahead of it's time. I now see why my cousin and everybody else was obsessed with it so long ago. The music...god the music. The gameplay. For it's time it released in 2001, it was completely ahead of it's time. If you think about it, really took first person shooter gameplay and refined it. They had all these mechanics that complimented each other in combat like melee, grenades, your shields, switching and experimenting with the guns. The level design. I personally loved the level design. Having vehicles was awesome to traverse but having these huge maps really gave you the feeling that you were really walking on the surface of the ring, of Halo. It felt grand and epic. The story is amazing. I don't know why I didn't understand it as a kid and didn't care but it's pretty cool as a whole. The particle effects from the guns and explosions. Riding the scorpion tank across iced over lakes and seeing ice particles shoot out. Overall, when you add up everything, it really is an amazing game and a strong reminder as to why it had the popularity that it did. It always seemed like a simple first person shooter to me as a kid. Playing it now, you realize just how polished and refined everything was. You can really tell a ton if money went into development, I mean hell, it was supposed to be a real time strategy game at first with a birds eye view. So much has changed and it was for the better. I recommend you go back and play it. I'm 33 and have games in my life I always thought were overrated but going back, it's easy to see why they were so good.

i got excited to play this out because of this review, but i went without patches since the video implies the game has no major bugs with all the official patches up However, not only there was constant infinite loading screens where the clock on top of the screen would keep spinning to no end, but my saves got corrupted just by starting save files at some points or saving while i was sneaking, after a lot of frustration trying to beat this and grinding for 1 entire week to complete the dungeon with those damn golems i kept playing until i reached the isle of despair, then i fought some challengers in the pit and thought it was cool to try and kill them with my spells, i thought it was ok to save after that and my save files were ALL corrupted, making me lose almost 40 hours of gameplay I gladly could save my game files with a save editor, but i got so frustrated with it that i went all my way to research for this bug and found a GIGANTIC list of bugs describing a bunch of game breaking bugs that are still in the game, why did you say they werent a thing anymore? i could have saved a bunch of time for just using the fan patches.

Funny thing: I played "Medal of Honor: Allied Assault" & "Call of Duty" (2003) *right* when they came out on PC. Finding out they were by the same team shocked me.😂 Loved both, quite a lot, but still enjoy "Allied Assault" more. It's one of my favorite games to this day. Though "Call of Duty: Black Ops" (2010) is superior to any MOH game to me.😂 That, "Allied Assault" and "Return To Castle Wolfenstein" being my three favorite FPS's. I think the main issue with this remake, is how low-budgeted it all feels. The character models and animations looked pretty dated in 2014 ( like they were taken from Sims 2), and voice acting is pretty bland. The original looked great for it's time, and it's 2D artwork and mood still holds up. The original voice-acting was also done by seasoned actors, and is far superior. You can complain about Tim Curry's fake southern accent, but the 'elvis' impersonator in the remake sounded worse and was monotonous in his delivery as with most of the casting.

Medal of Honor & Underground are the best FPS games for the PS1. I'd like to see both get remastered for current consoles and pc by Nightdive Studios over the random 3DO FPS games they've been doing lately.
@DWTerminator6 күн бұрын
To be fair, saying some games are the "best FPS games for the PS1" is *really* not saying much. As for "remastering" MoH1 and Underground... that's not really possible without significantly retooling the game to the point where it's practically a remake. Not to mention that Frontline and Allied Assault are nearly remakes of MoH1 already.

I couldn't even play Medal of Honor Airborne for more than a few minutes before uninstalling. And that was at the time when I only played a handful of WW2 FPSs so burnout wasn't an issue, the gameplay just "didn't feel right" from what I can remember all those years ago. This at least looks like it has it's moments from a spectator pov, not sure if I would say the same if I would be behind the controls though.

I just played through Medal of Honor 1 again after many years about 2 months or so ago, and I have to say the game is still great. The graphics are no longer impressive and the controls have their problems, but once you get back into it, all the little problems are forgotten. Especially towards the end, the game really gets to the point of high tension. Absolute classic.
@samz86917 күн бұрын
I do find it funny how technically the first Medal of Honor is the one with the most "in-depth" stealth system, if only because it's actually possible to finish the stealth levels mostly stealthy instead of having your cover blown in an unavoidable scripted sequence near the start of the level. (I think the only other WW2 FPS, at least on consoles, to somewhat have this was Commandos: Strike Force even if it's still simple compared to Hitman or DTS.) It's a shame not too many games use a proper disguise system, (You have Hitman, Death To Spies and Commandos.) usually it's just a really simple gimmick. (which MOH 1 is definitely guilty of, I'm just amazed somehow every game after it managed to regress on the disguise system.)

I agree on "Frontline" and especially "European Assault". "Rising Sun" had a lot of really good ideas, but my biggest problem was the clunky movement/aiming and the rather uninspired level design itself, especially near the end of the game. The beginning two levels were the highlight for me.

Just played through this recently with Duckstation, I patched in widescreen and frame generation with the lossless scaling application to achieve 60 fps. Played suprisingly well with the fourth control scheme you can select, it's pretty much modern joystick first person shooter controls which is pretty cool for a PS1 game. It's definitely clunky a bit, too linear, too easy but I would argue that the "feel" of the game is still great when everything is in motion. The stop and pop shooting with good sound effects, over the top animations for the enemies combined with Giacchinos score makes the game feel like pretty much a Spielberg action-adventure spectacle you can control.

He will tell his story during gameplay like how call of Juarez did it, but if your playing as a regular soldier you don't have that and you will play the level normal, but if you die, the game will continue on and it will show you the guy you died as with his name and DOB on the screen before you go to the next guy like in BF1 first level.
