I can’t believe people had the audacity to say that Frozen was the first movie to show "Sisterly Love" when LILO AND STITCH LITERALLY EXIST

stitch isn't Lilos sister. also, Lilos actual sister is abusive af lol but jokes aside, the point of the sisterly love thing was more about taking the true love thing and saying that family love should also be in that category when breaking spells in stories. Lilo and Stitch is just about family sticking together. Im sure everyone knows the saying in Lilo and Stitch, yet no one thought Frozen would use sisterly love to break a spell. That's the difference. Lilo and stitch aint about true love nor sisterly love. It's about family (and abuse apparently XD)
@miriamlmao7037 Жыл бұрын
frozen was a better movie about healing your own trauma and relationship with your family at the same time. but lilo and stitch was about sisters persevering together. slightly different, but both were great

it's been almost two years and i know no one is gonna read this but if you look at the scene in Nani's room, she has a bunch of surfing trophies. It's theorized that she was going to become a professional surfer, but when their parents died she had to give it up to support Lilo. It's just a heart breaking background detail about Nani that i love.

Some things to note: Leis are a symbol of love in Hawaiian culture, so when Stitch is acting crazy and she puts a Lei on him, she is calming him with her love. Nani was only 19 years old. Her relationship with Lilo, and her struggle to keep the fragments of her family together, are what make the movie so heartbreaking. She gave up any future she had to keep her sister out of the system. Stitch's entire arc is the Ugly Duckling. Before the two pages, a swan egg hatches with a brood of ducklings accidentally. The swan grows up thinking it's a very ugly duckling, and that's why it looks different. The swan then gets lost and finds its true family. Stitch was born in chaos and evil. He finds his Swan family with Lilo and Nani, and he slowly realizes who he is and where he belongs.
@Dizzy82032 жыл бұрын
I actually read something that talked about how Nani, in her room, has trophies from surfing. She was shown to be amazing at surfing. Maybe that’s a dream she had to give up to raise Lilo. On top of that she is trying to give Lilo the best life she can! AND she even ditches her crush to be there for Lilo. She is most likely just out of high school and she had to deal with the loss of her parents and the loss of her childhood and freedom because she now has to raise her baby sister!

Lilo and Stitch hit different as an adult because you understand the pain, lost, existential fear, and determination of Lani to keep her sister from going into the system while sacrificing her wants and needs and the trauma Lilo has from losing her parents. And Stitch wanting a family and becoming more sentient.
@nicodemussawbones59414 жыл бұрын
The running theory I've heard is that Lilo's parents died in a car crash due to a storm the one day Lilo didn't take Pudge the fish a sandwich. Lilo, being a kid, took that to mean Pudge controls the weather, and that it was her fault for the storm. This also explains why Myrtle's "you're crazy" comment caused such a dramatic reaction from Lilo - it wasn't just a mild insult, it was a direct insult to her for her method of coping with her parents' death.

Aside from the aliens, Lilo and Stitch is legitimately one of the most real stories to come out from Disney. A broken family, a little girl who feels like she doesn't belong or has anyone there for her, a big sister trying to single-handedly take care of the only family she has left, the stress of all that being added onto by social services,... One of my little sisters is so much like Lilo, and she has an emotional support guinea pig that she named Ohana because "Nobody gets left behind or forgotten." Everyone needs a Stitch in their life.

Nani and Lilo's parents died in a car accident during a rain storm. That's why Lilo brings Pudge a PB sandwich every week. Pudge controls the weather. "Lilo" means "broken" in Hawaiian. And Lilo needed a Stitch 😭❤ I love this movie so much. It came out when my little sister was 3 and made her obsessed with Elvis Presley. And the way Nani and Lilo fight is totally how I fight with my sister. We are 13 years apart. When I'm upset about something or I'm missing home and my sister my husband will put on Lilo and Stitch.

I mean actually the tourist picture taking is explaimed in a deleted scene (you can probably find it on youtube) where tourist used to take pictures of Lilo "the little indigenous Hawain girl" and so she began taking pictures of them as pay back. Wish they kept the scene, definitely recommend watching the deleted animated scenes, they delve into pretty good social commentary on treatment of indigenous people and tourism in Hawaii.

"there's no dna in saliva." -Dylan, a botanist
@marcoandresrosario84742 жыл бұрын
3:34 1. Botany is a pure science in which botanists study plant life. 2. Surprisingly, most people assume the source of DNA in saliva is strictly buccal epithelial cells. However, studies show that up to 74% of the DNA in saliva comes from white blood cells which are an excellent source of large amounts of high quality genomic DNA.
@SarahJohnson-cw6lf3 жыл бұрын
Ive seen a lot of people bring up the thing about pudge controlling the weather and Lilo thinking she caused her parents death, but not as many people bring up another sad backstory that's a bit related. When stitch is leaving she says she remembers everyone who leaves while looking at tge picture of her parents, and she is always taking pictures of the tourists. She takes pictures to remember people because everyone she meets is always leaving because theyre tourists and eventually their vacation ends, so she constantly being abandoned by people. She wants to keep the memories of everyone because even her parents left, and she only has 1 picture to remember them by, which is why shes so protective of the picture when Stitch grabs it, and she doesnt want to only have 1 picture to remember someone by again, so takes pictures of everyone. I also think thats why she is trying so hard to be friends with the mean little girls, because theyre the only ones that live there and wont leave. In an episode of the T.V. show theres a new little girl that shows up and tries to be friends with Lilo, but Lilo says she cant because she'll leave soon. Luckily the little girl moved there so they do become friends, but it just adds another level of sadness to this movie, and backstory.

I remember reading a critic's review of this movie when Lilo & Stitch came out in theaters and they complained about how annoying Lilo was... I watched it anyway and concluded that the critic critiquing the kid's movie probably never met a kid who suffered from something traumatic. This movie is so realistic to the psychological aspects of being orphaned (Lilo) and being abandoned/runaway from an abusive homelike (Stitch). It is a brilliant movie.

This movie was like one of the first female power movies! Nani is such a bad bitch, she's trying to balance a job and taking care of her little sister. The movie does SUCH A GOOD JOB on covering trauma and hardships, and you really see this through how nani and lilo interact with each other. Also CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW DAVID IS SUCH A GOOD GUY :( He legit is there for nani and takes her rejections well, because he knows how much she's struggling.

18:50 There are packs of wolves in populated areas of Russia that deliberately send their cute pups into towns to beg for food. It goes against all instinct, but they know humans feed cute, non-threatening animals, so the rest of the pack stays back while the pups (and smaller, grown wolves) gather food scraps for the whole pack. The big, scary wolves hunt when they can, of course, but they do what they have to. Yes, animals know exactly what they’re doing.
