Dynamic DRL LED Startup lights installed on my VW Transporter
Cool new mod, these look really good.
I install my new lights, however i am yet to discover the best way to wire the lights.
They flicker when supposed to be dim, so at present thats not good.
I want them to come on when pressing the unlock button, so i am investigating this further.
My next mod is a crazy mod, which is pretty cool, just for a bit of fun. Do subscribe to be notified when that goes live. Coming soon......

I bought a VW Transporter T6 Kombi Highline van 140bhp diesel SWB with tailgate.
Slowly turning it into a camper van / day van with bed. I will also need something for cooking, cooling, sleeping, drinking ?? Choices to be made.
I have lots more to do though, I have a new electrical system, using Victron components and a Lithium LIFEPO4 battery, so I obviously need to install some power devices. I have a new sound system, with Focal speakers and ibus 2.1 amp, Playstation PS4, which will be removable, TV's on headrests.
Lots for me to look forward too and it would be nice to take you on the journey.
Please do let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions.
Vanlife for me is just beginning, it's a great adventure and I'm loving it. 😍

Haha, I actually thought id be the first one to put these on a transporter, Ordered it before Christmas and its sat in a box waiting to be installed since. Glad you've experimented before me though as Ive now got something to follow. I was going to do it through the DRL, but then have a switch in the dash to switch it off if i didnt want it on ( Mainly because i didnt know if it was going to look shit or not )

my DRLs are off, any idea how to switch the curcuit on?

If u use the red wire from ur drl’s assuming u have transporter hq lights, then they will operate in auto , so will come on when headlights are on auto or if the switch is in the side light position. I tried using zener diodes on both the green and red to allow for the drls to dim when headlights come on but it won’t won’t and throws up error code 🤷🏻

I was going to go down the diode route, but they flicker when on headlight, so need a rethink. They are currently on when any of my lights are on, but as they are in the bonnet lip they don’t shine forward as much to blind people

@@vandox21 have you had any joy mate please? I’m in the same boat as yourself! T5.1 and Transporter Hq lights and would love for the led strip to come on and act with the side lights/drl’s that’s in the Hq lights so on all the time them dip etc..🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😬

@@andrewtaylor2505 mines a T6 with factory auto lights, if the T5.1 transporter hq lights are wired the same there are two reds on the rear, one is dipped beam and the other is drl, mine are running on dipped beam via the auto set up so will work in auto or when dipped beam is selected via the switch. Can’t get them to work using Zener diodes etc I have tried all kinds of ways but all bring up error code on dash 🤷🏻

Hi i've just piggy banked mine off fuse no 16 (brake light as you said) and although all works fine it stays on for 35 seconds after locking the vehicle! Can this be adjusted or is there an alternative fuse to piggy bank from? Thanks

I have a T6 and struggling to find a fuse that makes it work…. Only option I have at the moment is connecting both to battery but I wanted it to come on/off with unlocking/locking van

@@daveglover6350 hi I connected mine to the same fuse as the brake light (no 16) and it’s been working fine. When it’s dark and you press the key fob the light activates. Also when you put the key in the ignition. Good luck!

So is this rear lights or brake light? I did it to this fuse but nothing,but was doing it in the day….. you say in the dark? Does it only work when dark?

put mine on today, went with this guide: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q9mgfpCpmba7fX0.html, although my lights different and im on a T5.1 unlike your T6, come on with bumper DRLs, but not with unlocking? keep up the great videos, will be down your part of the world again early July 😉 would love to put a RED one on the back 🤔 as a brake light, but where to fit as its so long....low under the bumper, hmmm, are you on FB?
