Dave did a flash tune on my 2019 Ninja 650 (non LAMS version) to suit my full Akropovic system (no Db killer). Together with the Cortana quick shifter he installed, the bike was completely transformed. Can’t recommend Dave more highly👍🏼😀👏🏼🏍.

Great explanation and tuning! I've read that in Germany, Kawasaki dealer does de-tune to A2 license (similar to LAMS, restricted to 35 kW ~45 bhp) if you don't have A1 yet, and then can return to factory 68 bhp once you present your A1 (works with Vulcan S, Z650, Z650RS, and some other 650cc bikes). I was thinking in other countries official dealers can do the same.

kspp makes some velocity stacks, the stock are soft rubber and close up at high rpm, you can see the power dips at higher rpm because of them

Thinking Of buying the Kawasaki z650rs and while I am happy to keep it in lams mode for a year or till I am used to riding more and the bike i di like the idea that they can be un-lams rather easy. Will any shop doing the ecu flash refuse if i have not got my open licence yet or the sort of thing they will not ask me to prove? Don't reply to that question if any legal issues might pop up over it though :) I'm happy to wait till I can get the open licence but with time and work it's easier to just stay on the restricted licence and open up the bikes power.

Are the Z650's restricted at factory? On the Kawasaki site I see that it shows a badge for A2, though it can be a category A bike. I baught one after doing my DAS, but it feels slugish for what a 650 should be... But it could also be that I have never had a bike before and don't know how it should feel power wise.

Don't do this until you're on a full license people. If you hurt someone and they figure out you've done this when you're a crying mess down at the police station...you're going to be in serious trouble...

@Some Guy urrrrr most lams 650 bikes are 50hp or less - de restricted they make 80-100hp . That's alot more than 10%

Having a full licence won't save you because derestricting the bike makes it unregistrable and uninsurable in Australia. If you injure another party or property your insurance company will be well within their rights to dismiss your claim and leave you on your own to fight any case brought against you. To make it legal you need to have the modifications certified through your states appropriate body [RMS in NSW] then have it reregistered as a non-lams bike. it's a very expensive exercise and simply not woirth the effort as you could just buy a better bike and still save money.

@someguy5035 noone would ever know except the crash teams that would inspect the bike and check for limiters. Sure, you might get away with it, til you crash and suddenly your insurance is void and you're in prison for an assortment of crimes.

That's for pre-2020 models, it switches or unlocks the map in the ECU. 2020+ comes with only a single mapping and no plug.

So I called my local Dyno to book having this done, and they said nah throttle restriction is enough… they made it sound like it was a waste so I left it… I’m just worried about you mentioning it will affect low speed handling, what do you mean by that?

What he means is that valves open and close for a reason. If it's fully open when it should be, it adds power that you want. If it's fully open when it shouldn't be, it adds power that you don't want.

cool but on the Kawasaki website an unrestricted bike should output 68cv/hp. Why is not the case? are you using American horsepower ?

Power to the rear wheel vs at the crank. Advertised HP is almost always at the crank. You lose 20 to 30 HP from the crank to the rear wheel generally.

@@moreorlesdone1497 I believe you are correct. A gentleman I met asked me to test ride his ER-6L with the plug removed/ shorted and the plate screw removed.
