Another look at my American import Dyson DC28 vacuum cleaner. I fitted a new cable (check the link below for that video) and show the few spare parts I managed to get for this cleaner, before putting some dirt down and giving the Dyson a thorough test.

Oh! I have this one! I got it for myself as a birthday present to myself. I bought it from a RV awning manufacturer in Wisconsin where it was used to clean the lobby until it died. It has a intense plastic and rubber odor to it from all the rubber dust and plastic shavings it had to clean up. I think the problem is the main control board died, which is a common problem with this model.

Another example why dc17 or actually the newer style ball is superior

The DC17's are all incredibly brittle now and break easily from plastic decay and the Ball cleaners are a absolute nightmare to work on. @@Dankcatvacs

For my birthday, I had bought likely one of the rare gems for vacuum lovers here in the US, a Bison, brainchild of two ex Kirby engineers, not many were sold and Bison did not last long

Looks a beast of a cleaner, the filter brand 4Your Home are quite good, used them many times.

🧐 - At 14:51 I could see a paw-wheel actuating the height of the brush bar, behind the transparent cover ~ above the “ibasiac” watermark in the video frame

I believe he has a DC17 which doesn’t have the height control buttons.

Gosh what a racket. Quite the opposite from kirby g3 i used today very smooth motor all i could hear is air sucking in the nozzle and the agitation. I think the roller bearings or dry because woof That multti floor sounds much nicer

What does airmuscle mean? Is is like an early cinetic? Or just the buttons for different floor types?

im desperate for help my dyson cylinder big ball has started to smell i washed it time after time and still wont go away so i ordered some fresh discs from amazon where do i put the fresh disc to make it smell nice im not sure wheater to put it near the filiter or in the bin as if i put it in the bin im afraid it might get dirty quicker can you help me

Honestly they clean pretty ok when they actually work but i gotta say they are a pain in the ass to work on especially when the whole head has the error light blinking i know because i had a dc28 and it was just a huge pain but they are pretty good when they work tho

The Dyson I’ve admired the design of most is the Small Ball. I like the way that it moves around.

Can’t help it… I just don’t like Dyson uprights, too chunky and fussy in design. I’d have a Miele upright in preference, although conscious of the perils of split suction hoses, or a Sebo upright with their superb computer controlled height adjustment and gorgeous build quality…

Dyson uses extra stiff bristles to compensate for having no beater bar on the brushroll, as a result the heat from the friction of the nylon bristles hitting your carpet will chew through your carpet. Most Dyson owners realize their carpet is bald after 1.5 to 2 years.

Yes relic from the past and probably should stay there, what an ugly beast of a machine. I doubt I would even be able to lift it without doing weight training first. 🏋‍♀🏋‍♂🏋

When I went back to college in the late nineties I worked for Macy’s at night on the Home Furnishings floor when the original Dysons premiered and when I passed by the housewares department and passed by the vacuum display I thought we were selling Robbie the Robot from the 1960s and wondered why it wasn’t in the children’s department.
