Larry don’t worry about the length of the video, they are all worth watching and listening too. You under estimate the power of passing on your knowledge and expertise. Every single one is worth seeing in its entirety, probably several times over. For every question you just answered, there were probably 100 people with the same question and so many more that weren’t asked. Keep up the great work! I definitely have a couple questions I’ll send over to you email. Thanks again for providing a wealth of knowledge.

I can’t believe you give this valuable information out for free Larry. I’m sure this involved many years of trial and error to gain this level of education with the e collar. This stuff is working very well with my dogs and I want you to know it’s greatly appreciated.

The “im actually using the recall to teach the e-collar” comment just blew my mind. I hadnt even thought of it that way.

My mini educator arrived today. Thanks to Larry's videos, I know how to use it properly. There's already a big difference in my affectionate but easily distracted rescue dog, Libby, after only a few hours. Thank you very, very much!

Larry think of these as podcasts we’re listening to while we’re doing other stuff at home. I appreciate every thing you’re teaching here, esp when I don’t have to be glued to the screen.

I found your videos recently and you have changed my mind on the e-collar. I have a high energy Aussie mix and we have many commands down but I want to refine the recall so he can enjoy off-leash with peace of mind. Thank you for educating us and caring more about the dogs than people's opinions!

I watched it all. You are great with your use. So many people are totally not open to even listening or learning about e collars. Close mindedness is the worst ignorance out there.

My question relates to timing of stopping poor behaviour after the conditioning phase. When/how do I use it on my 2 year old rescue who has a very high prey drive. I live in the country surrounded by distractions and no fencing. Examples: Walking along the trail and she spots a rabbit and takes off, or she gets a scent and dives in the bush or she spots another dog...

I tried a cheap import collar from amazon. I did not work consistently and the stim feels different. The cheap collar even on mild levels feels sharp. The E Collar Mini works great. The Stim feels softer at any level of stim on my hand than the cheap collar.

I've been training my dog with ecollar and it has been unbelievable. My aussie/german is doing great with just about everything. Only downside is I had to take him to the vet yesterday and got a lecture from the vet about how positive reinforcement training is mich better and how I'm lucky I don't have a terrified pup on my hands. I seriously wanted to tell her to keep her thoughts to herself but held back. Thanks for your videos!

I have a video on my channel of my 4 month old lab walking with me in the woods off leash. The reason I’m saying this is to show people what a young puppy is capable of if you are willing to follow Larry’s tutelage and apply his teachings. My puppy is very reliable as shown in the video and I haven’t even begun to layer the ecollar training yet as he is only 4 months old

Thanks for all your content, Larry! Quick question. What is the effect of staying in the Conditioning Phase too long?
@MrJojofromkokomo

Hi Larry what might help people like me turn the corner and get started, since we know you dont train with the ecollar, might be to suggest a training protocol of say 8 skills/commands that once learned can be applied to the ecollar language. You wouldn't have to demo the skills just recommend them.

awesome video. My puppy just recently started jumping. Im hoping to resolve it on my own without the e collar. You said it was easily resolved, ill have to browse your videos to see if you haave one on this. also ive started conditioning my puppy to the e collar. had him wear it a few times with it being off. just yesterday tried finding a working level. No respinse, got to 20 and still nothing... There was a kid yelling down the street so that might have been the issue. Gonna try again tonight.

Here's a few things I have learned about the jumping. I think Larry will agree with me. First, walk your dog until he's tired. He might have pent up energy, plus you will bond with him. Don't ever let him lead. Show him you are the leader. Second, don't give him affection until he calms down. If you pet him when he jumps on you, you are rewarding the bad behavior. I have a St. Bernard and the jumping became a real problem once he got over 100 lbs.

I loved this Larry. You are the best regards using remote collars. I don't use for training either. Yes I use remote collars. I'd love the Chameleon seeing as here in the UK they're to be banned once they stop messing with Brexit. Totally right about not skimping on e collars. Mine is all totally water proof and cosy £25 UK pounds. Great Larry . Total respect. I trained dogs for over 40 years before learning about e collars. and using them. Using e collars is like learning a new language and it takes time to fully understand. Thanks Larry. I think if you'd been fronting the fight here in the UK we wouldn't have had them banned. Still no date on when the ban starts here. Thanks again : )

Laura's Life Dog Training & Dog Vlogs which is why i purchased one before i even got the puppy just incase!! Haha. Forward thinking. Larrys videos are extremely useful and i like the fact he teaches you how to use the e collar without having to blast your dogs head off. Its done very well in my opinion

Totally agree. Larry shows it all with no editing which is really a good thing. I just thought I'd offer myself up as am in the UK. I use the same methods as Larry to . : ) Stay well Matty . ) Maybe I should do a video on correct usage of tools on my channel . : )

You're amazing and I respect your ways so much! I bought the Mini-Educator for our male working line GSD, but did not / will not use it until he was quite well-trained by us first and with a marker word "yes". He is just approaching 6 months now and really does have a very good understanding of all the commands now with a high level of compliance with treats/toys, so I think he is now ready and will be starting it this week and will carefully follow the introduction you have graciously provided in your videos and will do this for probably a few weeks before I begin to consider strengthening other things. The goal is to allow him off-leash and to come when called every single time since he is still in that phase where he will run around and try to play instead. Up to now, I have also been walking him with an Easy-Walk harness and haven't even used the prong collar yet. However, those hormones are now going and there are a few distractions that have caused him to start to pull a little more than usual and my concern is that he had begun to lunge at traffic......and now he is over 70 pounds already, it's time to get just a little more control with him in a firm, but gentle way, so the prong and ecollars will help to make him a better canine citizen. He is one imposing looking dog and will be HUGE, so we have to be sure we can take him anywhere! Thanks again!!

Wonderful and informative! My five year old Golden adores every person she meets but aggressively barks (doesn’t bite) but acts like she will to occasional dogs we meet- most others she ignores. I can’t predict how she will react - any suggestions?

Thanks for this informative video. I searched for 2 years to find a pit to adopt. Live in Canada but had to inquire far afield to find a puppy or juvenile. Found a 7mth puppy at a Seattle area rescue. He was deaf and no one would take him. I thought ecollar was the perfect answer to get this pretty boy started. They wouldn't let me have him because I proposed a 'shock' collar for training him. They preferred death to a training tool that would have been effective in communicating with a deaf puppy... God save us from these fools

My e-collar has a vibration setting, I improved my lurcher's recall using just that, I wasn't happy about getting the right level of stim with him being such a sensitive dog, it seemed to be stressing him if he could feel it.

Sorry for the stupid question but... if ecollars are used best when the dog has the commands very well, beside a long distance recall why would we need it? The dog will already might now very well the command, right? So it´s only for safety... only IF...

I suffer with the long distance call because my dog is a Galgo-hunter. They are breed for that purpose and she hunted many years. How can I change something that is part of the dog and she practiced it with great success for many years. She can only run free at the beach but that is 200 kms away and is no option.

Great talk thank you. As always you get what you pay for. I bought a "$50.00" Amazon collar. "I" don't trust it, had a negative experience with my dog just becuase of my lack of trust in the collar. I'm just going to save up and get an Educator and return to my trainer untill I can trust my relationship with my GSD and the collar.

How do you teach Leave it???
@michellejester9734
@michellejester9734 3 жыл бұрын
Did you have any luck? I taught leave it to my GSD. I use treat training. And lots and lots of repetition and praise!!! I learned how to by watching videos and in obedience class. Basically, I started with a high value treat and down. Every time she went into a down (lay down), she received a treat. I then placed a treat far enough away that she couldn't snap it up, repeating leave it, leave it, and used a marker word like Nice! Good! Yes! Whatever word you use, and didn't press my luck with time. You can't challenge the time long when first teaching this. Don't do it much longer than 4 seconds, then make a big deal and either say Free!! And allow the dog to get the treat or pick it up, say Free and hand it to them!!! Repetition. Do it for 10 minutes MULTIPLE MULTIPLE times a day!!!! Once she's got it, then extend the time a few seconds until she can do it with no mistakes. Once she's mastered it, then bring the treat closer. After a few weeks start practicing with other things, like your cat, etc. Always praise and reward and continue the exercise so when they hear leave it, it's their second nature to ignore whatever they're going after. It's amazing how well repetition works in conjunction with praise and positive attention.

Larry, by no means do I mean to hijack the comments, so please forgive me for being technologically or KZfaq challenged. What are your thoughts on the two Malinois, killed by police officers/handlers in the last month? My fear is there starting to treat dogs like a machine, and not a living, breathing entity. If the dog has no Trust, loyalty, or respect, for the handler..... you're going to have problems despite the breed. I'm a idiot, but that is my thoughts, what is your opinion?

Thanks for your help! I'm new to the ecollar. I've a 11 month Golden. She's been a high strung hyper gal from day one. One main problem she's developed is either 50/50 jealousy when u try to pick up or touch our 2y.o. small shiTzu. She's 70 pounds & learning to STRONG bark in my face and Little dog. To intimidate.. She'll nudge him away to separate us. We've also made a mistake keeping them apart half the time-simply to protect little dog from playful BIG puppy. So we need to learn how to use ecollar correctly for jealousy. Mostly our Grandchild .... can not visit!! Dog is too hyper jumping. And they don't visit now. No relationship with this Golden. I need behavior down / OFF help. She knows her good basics with treats but had to use gentle leader to walk her. Very strong dog. HELP!!?! Please! she's obsessed with eating ANY THING! we've found rocks/bark/toy stuffing in her stool 🙁 Thanks so much! I'm not well and really want my girl to live forever with me. HELP 😢 PLEASE BLESSINGS Sue
