E023 Take a Look at the Zoomie Program Framework with it's Deterministic Loop

The program to run the Zoomie (Autonomous robot) will be rather extensive in size and complexity. This is the first part in a series of videos detailing the MicroPython program that runs the Zoomie. Primary focus is on creating a Deterministic Main loop and a Watch Dog feature.

I have a problem with OOP programming. I got my first SW job in the mid 1960s. That was before universities were graduating computer science majors. I started with machine code and entered the code into the computer with toggle switches. An assembler was a big step upward and later I learned several higher level languages. Late in my career, I was introduced to OOP. I never felt comfortable developing OOP techniques. I'm now 88 and it's too late for me to change. It's hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

Hi William, I just saw your message come in while i was filming an episode and it made me laugh. You have a good number of year beyond me (I am 63) but I share your feelings. I am fortunate enough that once I get rolling with it, I am okay with it, however, I often think that it is more work than worth for most programs I write. I think I will be staying mostly within the "Traditional" method of programming as long as I can as well. Cheers! Chris
