The Band was a Canadian Band with one American, Levon Helm from Arkansas. They were Bob Dylan’s backup band and then branched out on their own,. Robbie Robertson wrote most of their lyric. He’s the one playing the double necked guitar. You said you saw Playing for Change,, well Robbie was in that first bit….sitting, playing guitar, wearing a dark blue shirt and black pants.. One of their big hits was “ Up on Cripple Creek “ R.I.P. Levon Helm, Rick Danko and Richard Emmanuel.

Chest Fever is great too. Garth Hudson goes to town on the Lowrey organ. Can't seem to find any live videos of it with good sound quality though. The album version is awesome though.

The Band is my favorite of all time. Love Mavis Staples too. You can't go wrong with any of the songs on "Music from Big Pink", "The Band" (some call it the brown album, or even "Stage Fright". Probably their next most famous song would be "Up on Cripple Creek". King Harvest is a good song (the band King Harvest took their name from that song). Some bonus trivia...the band Nazareth took their name from the first verse in The Weight! Also, Robbie wrote a great Christmas song after one of his kids was born, "Christmas Must be Tonight".
