Man I love this format! The history of an RC car is where I build my connection to my cars. When it breaks, how it breaks, what I did to fix it, how I modified it for preference, how I made it faster, handle better... it all builds that connection to an RC that keeps me going! It's why Tamiya is a great brand for me, they sell you a car at 75% realized potential, and you build it then build a connection with the car as you make it 100%, or 110%! You helped sell me on a Rising Fighter after watching you build up Superfly 2, and I modded it with some of your parts, and now it's one of my favorite RC's! It's a little mechanical pet :)

I see extra Ackerman in the Steering. 😉 This is the one I've always REGRETTED selling!! 😞 Like you, my first Hobby Grade, the First Buggy that got me into Pro 1/10th Buggy Racing... And the LAST one I liked! They ALL became flat pan Moon Buggies shortly after this one. 😖 I've ALWAYS been about Scale. I was the first in my Group to get one, back in late 85.... Even with the narrow front end and 6 gear woes - it DOMINATED at all tracks!! At least until more RC10s, Yokomos and Losis started showing up. I literally love this Buggy, and WILL get another when I can, damn the cost!! Thanks for sharing this awesome car! Carmine ✈🚂🚙

I'm looking forward to the next video on the RC10, It was one of the cars we used to dream about while racing our affordable Midnight Pumkins and Monster Beetles. Knowing we most likely never would see one or own one, we coveted the pictures in RCCA magazine :-) One of the Holiest of Grails back in the late 80's. Best regards, Toby

Ah, now you're speaking my language. lol My first surface RC was a Sand Scorcher (circa 1980) but my second was an RC10 (circa 1987) when I began racing off-road. I've since branched out into many different brands and different forms of RC, etc., but the RC10 remains my all-time favorite RC - period. When I run my vintage RC10's on my backyard track it just takes me back to those happier days when life was simpler and the world was a little less insane. Like you've said, they won't perform with the modern stuff but I don't care - RC is about having fun and the RC10 does it for me. Thank you so much for post this video and I cannot wait for part two!

Thanks for the memories bud, I had a RC10 A stamp 6 gear as my second hobby grade rc. Unfortunately I got rid of it decades ago. But I now have a complete custom TQ-10 and a original RC-10 stealth graphite! Looking forward to seeing this new series!! Also if it's possible some track footage of the RC-10 would be great to see :)

Awesome. This series should be good. Looking forward to it. I have recently acquired an RC10, it says 2x Championship winner on the box. Pretty sure it has the same transmission as yours, or very similar. I'm going to lightly restore it to running condition. Only thing I don't have is a mounting wire and bits for the wing. Your RC10 is a cool car. Wears its battle scars with pride I think.

This sounds like a awesome series can’t wait for more. I have that same car I totally rebuilt a few years ago had it since the early 90’s. I also have a Rc10t that I picked up and the stealth can handle brushless power it’s the ball diffs in the trans that can’t , unless you upgrade the slipper system to the b4 slipper assembly then it’s much better at handling the power. Cheers and here’s to another great year of videos!!

I still have mine that I bought new in the mid 80s,it still has the six gear trans.and the trans has never been apart since I first put it together,i put the same speed control novak in it,and trusty futaba s3003 steering servo,they never quit working.cause it still has the first one I put on it. I also put an aluminum wing on and gold plated universals,it has andy's arms on the front and a trinity monster power motor that cost me 88 bucks in the early 90s it still runs,i ran a 7 cell hump battery pack,,.recently I got a volt meter that plugs into the balance plug with low volt alarm so I can run a 2 cell lipo with my old stuff..i think I still have bits and pieces of the mechanical speed control that came in the kit

That looks a bit like my tamiya stadium truck chassis, I'm new to the hobby and the truck was given to me so I don't know a lot about the the rc's, maybe the rc guys just made a whole bunch of these chassis and put different brands on them, maybe you can shed some light on this for me👍👍

The Associated Electric's RC10 - often imitated, never duplicated. The one and only original, multi-time world champion, gold standard by which other buggies were judged. As far as I know, AE never licensed or re-branded any of their products for other manufacturers.
@AMPROEngineering
@AMPROEngineering 4 жыл бұрын
Well you are looking at genesis of modern buggies. Before this car, the only real off roader was the Sand Scorcher and that was just a scaled down 1:1 car. This thing paved the way for a 1:10 scale buggy.

@@AMPROEngineering Agreed! Knowing what they're worth NOW, and not just in dollars.... A lot of us Old Farts really regret taking a Hole Saw to our Gold Pans. In 86, Jay Halsey himself (nice guy BTW) visited our Track... He was almost insulted by the HOLES in our Chassis... He proceeded to take out a box stock RC10 - and BEAT all our asses with it!! 😳 Thinking back, he did have a special balanced Battery Pack, probably made by Reedy himself... And was running a Stealth! But it was an intact Gold Pan Chassis. 😉 ~ Anyone else remember that far back, when Manufacturers and the biggest name Dudes visited local Tracks, as promotion or just to offer tips??

@@AMPROEngineering My dad started racing with the Blackfoot, then the RC10, then the RC10T when it came out. I then raced the RC10 when my dad got the RC10T, before I was in Kindergarten. We've dabbled in RC on/off ever since. Not a lot of tracks around us, compared to where I grew up. We've also raced RC10Ls and later the TC4s. Messing around with crawlers, planes and such now. My dad's been turning Ertl tractors into RC lately. He's been watching your videos too, as he's getting back into the old Tamiya vehicles he started out with. I also try to use RC as a way to teach STEM to kids by building electronics, controlling motors and servos, designing drones, cars, or building transmitters and receivers....
