Hope Jay reads this. I would like to share my experience with Jay and his students here. I'm from India, a non-native speaker. I gave my IELTS Academic in October 2018 (first attempt) and I got a speaking score of 8.5. (Overall 8) 1. All credit to Jay and his methods. For all sections. 2. I did use the PPF method and the examiner was floored. 3. My topic was "Talk about a sport that you have watched, but haven't played and would like to play it in future". So it was a little difficult to apply PPF so I just did past and future only. I have watched rugby on TV but I have never played it, dut dut dut. Another sport that I would like to watch in future and thence play it, is baseball dut dut dut. 4. One point of contention to you Jay. I spoke for probably 1:45 and concluded. But the examiner said "Is there something more you'd like to add" I was not expecting this. Apparently examiners in India do this. They expect you to talk for a full 2 minutes. So let your students be prepared to add up a couple of sentences at the end. I owe my exam completely to Jay. Didn't follow any other tutor. God bless you. Vanakkam Arjun, Chennai. India

When I sat my IELTS test one month ago the examiner asked me *Where are you from?* and I thought "this is my opportunity to show off" so I started saying *I am from Spain, from a tropical island located...* the examiner right after I said the word 'Spain' turned her head around and grabbed a pen or something as she did not expected a longer answer. So I suddenly stopped talking. It was a very awkward situation. My recommendation is that you should try to elaborate your answers but more important is to be natural and notice if the examiner's expressions indicate that they are waiting for a short or longer answer. The lady who was my examiner was nice though, and my score was not that bad either at the end: 7.5)

I just ran into one of your videos a while ago and decided to watch more. I am having a problem in this particular part of the speaking test, well aside from the fact the I also find it hard speaking fluently. When i was done talking about the email using the IPPF method, i felt so good about my performance. And then with you saying "how did that go" I went "yeah, it was good!" Hi Jay! Just wanted to drop a huge Thank You!! You’re absolutely right that the 2 mins on the exam day are absolutely different from those at home. During practice, i used to go beyond 2 mins. But on the exam day i fell short of the 2 mins even after using the PPF strategy. But but but... thanks to the IPPF strategy that i got a 8.5 band in my first attempt. I am a non-native speaker. Big thank you for all your great videos. I didn’t have any clue about the writing and speaking part. But your videos, the public band descriptors and just 10 days of preparation helped me reach an overall band of 8.5! Can’t thank you enough.

I've got my result today for the aug 19th GT test that I gave n I'm happy with the overall 7.5 band score that i managed to get with hardly 20 days of preparation. Listening -8.0 Reading -6.50(unexpected n unhappy) Writing -7.0 Speaking-7.50

Hi Jay, I addicted your u lectures since I had filled my Ielts test in 21st September, two weeks ago. I was looking for a free preparation course for Ielts on KZfaq when I found you tackling the problems that might face any Ielts test taker, offering such creative solutions (PPF strategy, in particular) at the same time.Recently, I have structured myself to bring your tips and pieces of advice into practice in every possible situation. Now, I can tell that I am focusing on specific skills that I need to develop more than another. For example, I am working right now on the BIG TOPIC task in the speaking section. Next week, I would like to pay more attention for mastering the writing skill in accordance with my preparation for setting the Ielts test, and which will be after less than three weeks. Although, I think it is my big elephant in the room, I am confident that this writing 2nd task will be my credit card to score high with more practice, indeed.

I accidentally tried to answer the questions with the same subject (or person) instead of 3 different ones, but still keeping the elements of PPF in it. Accidentally, simply because I couldn't manage to think about 3 different subjects in such limited time (probably just me). I figured that your PPF method is helpful in terms of the coherence and grammar, and still worked excellently even with one subject. So for people like me who couldn't just shift to different subject of interest in a blink of an eye, I believe we could still use the PPF for the same subject/person. Mhan!!! I come from an English speaking country So it wasn’t difficult well except for some nervousness here and there She asked bout wild animals and is concentration important as well as what day would make me happy

Since I see alot of people having doubts about this method, I thought of commenting with a slight change in this method which might be a little better and it may clear most of your doubts.. well, I feel it's better to start speaking about the question as it is in the beginning, specifically if it's about a mail u received recently, talk about it, try to use variety of tenses there. And if u are still left out with time, then elaborate your answer by connecting it with ur past and present..which will certainly assure a better band as jay explains..
