For your problem with the vinyl pealing back, make sure you post heat any vinyl you do. This will take any memory the vinyl has and reset it to the new shapes of the pieces you wrapped. A good rule of thumb is to get the surface of the vinyl right around 180-190 degrees fahrenheit. I had problems when I first started to do vinyl but after figuring this out I have not had any problems yet.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the look, but the way you kept those diagonal lines straight on multiple pieces is great skill. Thanks for this instructional video, it was helpful in showing me how to remove the center console. The screw under the hazard button- I would've never seen that.

jajajajajaja I have to agree with you on that. Yes, that's the best way of getting rid of the bubbles. I haven't used the glossy vinyl yet and I wasn't sure if it would be too glossy for my taste. I would rater use it for exterior. I'm thinking of wrapping my roof rack, if I do i'll make a video showing the difference on material.

Thanks. Few air bubbles here and there, but not many. They do not go away on their own. Thats something you have to take care of when Wrapping with the squeegee and heat gun.

The ashtray door is just held in with four small screws, I found it very helpful to remove it. Other than that I think you did a good job, I completely messed up the button for locking the door so I might have to redo it some time...

I recently wrapped this kind of trim . There was cracks in the trim and what you can do is take a razor blade and skratch them down nice and flat so that it wouldn't show in the vinyl.

This video made me a bit more confident about doing my e46, thanks dude.

But just in case; the dvd player was bought in Downtown L.A, at the Wholesale district for half the price you'll pay at Best Buy. The bezel or Trim surrounding the dvd player was bought on ebay under the name of "bmw double din cover"

Use water with a small amount of Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo on the adhesive side. It allows you to position it, and remove all the bubbles. Use a hard card to work any bubbles out and extra water. Never heat plastic too much or it'll warp and the part won't fit back in properly.

yes it will. All I have replaced have been the stock stereo. I still have the stock speakers. They are not bad at all. Check out my Double Din Pros & Cons Video so you can get a better idea. What I added was an AMP, 1 12" Woofer and an Equalizer. Good luck pal..

Thanks for sharing this. My mint condition 2003 530i auto has this nice wood trim. Right now I am purchasing a 2002 manual 530i and this one has the CF inside trim. I will definetely swap the trims as I like the wood one much more.

Thanks pal, yes is possible to put a clear coat. I've seen people do it. The thins is that I don't know if thru time it will crack. Now, they also have gloss vinyl. I purchased it but I honestly don't like it. I'll make a video comparing them two. The one I used is 3D, and the gloss is 2D.

Using super glue on the back side of the part to tack down the edges of the vinyl is a good idea. One thing I would suggest IF what you're covering already looks like shit. Give the part a good wipe down with lacquer thinner using a clean cloth first, and let the thinner evaporate away leaving a dry surface. That will remove any kind of oils or other contaminates that might prevent the vinyl from sticking really well. Now, if you don't want to risk diminishing the surface quality of the part, DO NOT USE lacquer thinner. Certain plastics and some other materials will lose their glossy finish if wiped with lacquer thinner. Find a less harsh solvent that is safe for plastics if you are uncertain about whether or not you intend the vinyl to be permanent.

I used a 24" X 60" sheet. That covered all the trims and still had some left over.

yes its a colour coded trim to match the car, not the black plastic one it has gaps at the corrners of each side, but im not sure how to use the trim tool to get it off, without snapping the plastic clips that hold the trim to the bumper.

Oh ok. Than u have an easy fix. Without those trims you would have to remove the entire bumper. So what you need is a flat head screw driver and a micro fabric cloth, or something similar. You said you have a trim tool, if is made out of plastic your golden. So, start from the corners and stick it on the top of the trim and push the tool upward so you can pop the trim out. then move to the bottom and work ur way till the entire trim has been removed. If using a screw driver wrap it on the cloth

I bought a 24" X 60" for about $18. That was more than enough to do all of my trim. And still had left over.

Best carbon fiber vinyl wrap and other style wrap is found at thetrademall much cheaper than 3m but at the same quality ! and can wrap 5 feet square for about $10

Thanks. I don't think the heat gun will make a difference. I only use the heat gun to bend the corners. Just make sure you have enough material to wrap it around the back. About, over an each all around.

I couldn't tell you which seller. I have bought from China, Florida and California. They're all the same. I see no difference. 3m make a primer you can apply to any surface for better adhesion its only about 3-4$ well worth getting for any project i would not recommend glue

a good rule of thumb for any one doing this: if the heat gun/ hairdryer burns your skin it will burn the vinyl. So DON'T LET IT GET TOO HOT!

I found 2x5 3M wrap on ebay for 33 bucks shipped. It looks fantastic.

The reason its lifting is because its cheaper vinyl. I know because i have wrapped a whole car with crappy CF before and the edges lifting were never ending. Its best to use 3M vinyl and also 3M primer around edges for the best results.

if you have leather arm rest with lifter there are two more nuts after to remove after you remove the back ventilation plastic.

Looks fricken great!!! Depending on the car I get, the trim is totally being wrapped in carbon fiber! To make your centre console stand out, I'd get a new shifter! (Although I'm sure you've already done that since you uploaded this video 3 years ago :P)

You should have used 5D instead. this one is nice, but it looks way cheaper than the original design. You should also give the parts a really proper cleaning, preferably with rubbing alcohol before you apply the wrap. Also, don't try to be quick, you need to carefully get rid of bubbles mate

Plasti dip attracts more dust, by adding glossifier you're gunna get 3x more dust. and not to mention plasti dip goes rough after the glossifier. I've been there done that. and its hard to clean plastidip with microfiber clothes. The vinyl is more clean and smooth and less cheap looking

you don't need to use it, is all marketing. Just make sure you clean the surface before applying/ installing the vinyl. You can use alcohol, but windex will do the trick.

My BMW was so easy to wrap and it lasted for 2 year until I sold it and still looking good. I bought a new F150 and I have not been able to wrap it, the trims on this damn truck have complex curves and shapes, I will have to plastidip it instead. BMW's seem to have way easier trim shapes.

if you changing the trim, i wouldnt do carbon fiber not really my taste esp on a bmw, i would go with the titanium, but i think the dark wood which is kind of rare looks amazing.

you need to buy plastic trim removal tools. If you use screwdrivers you will mess up the dash board. once you have those tools, stick them on the side and work your way around the vent. they're popped in. like everything else
