VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Isaac has been living in his 2003 Ford E450 Powerstroke diesel short bus for about 1.5 years. His design was informed by previously living in a short roof van and was originally intended as a tour bus for his music career. The huge roof deck, custom fixed ladder, and back deck are perfect for hanging out with friends or taking in the scenery. Isaac’s bus interior is cozy with beautiful wood paneling, a huge live edge slab countertop, and twinkle lights throughout. Every part of Isaac’s skoolie is handmade to the exact dimensions he wanted. He decided to leave the original metal roof on the bus which allows for things to be magnetized to the ceiling!

I don't like it. Makes me dizzy to watch. I slowed it down to .25 and it was very jerky. Better to show real time snippet videos collaged into a whole. Time lapse never works and hurts the eyes.

A few years ago, I chose to buy an established small (not tiny) house. It is about 650 sq ft plus a shed. It is one of the best decisions of my life. I prefer a fixed and small place for many reasons, mainly for my health issues and my extensive hobbies.

I raised 3 kids in a 400 square foot house.it was built in 1880 and was in my family since 1921. I renovated it a couple times in the 34 years I lived there. I live in a 950 SF. home now and it's just too much. I am wanting a tiny house, but the building codes around here are ridiculous.And making it difficult. So I'm searching for alternatives

What I enjoyed the most was they didn't tear apart the walls, ceiling, windows, etc. They ripped out the floors and seats, and BAM, prepped and spray painted that bad boy! Makes me feel like I can actually take on a short bus project without all the tearing apart of EVERYTHING. I'm curious about insulation and any rust issues, but otherwise, great build.

I love tiny homes as well, unfortunately because of injuries related to combat I can not drive anymore so that knocks out that entire part of my life.

They have controls that you can put on the steering wheel for the pedals if your wheel chair bound and you could always use the lift

@@TheHearseAroundJimThorpe fortunately its not that kind of injury. The injury was to my bodies electrical system, I have a history of passing out now and am unable to have a drivers license. I was calling in close air support during a dust storm and was hit by a bolt of lightning. 40 years old now and have had over a dozen procedures and a internal defibrillator in place.

On the road I have always found a toilet to be very easy to find. But I am going to remodel and add them.

@@isaacturnerit lol, who said you were gonna die on your bus??? o_O nice, good luck with your next build, i'm sure it'll be sweet! just a quick fyi, you don't need to spend $1100 on a composting toilet, i made mine for less than $60 (urine diverter and ventilation fan housing off etsy for $50, cheapo computer fan and switch from amazon, home depot 5 gallon bucket, and some plywood to build box) and it has been looking good and working PERFECTLY for 7 months now. lol, i like my composting toilet more than i like regular toilets now (no pee on the floor because i gotta sit down to go, no water wasted, and no cleaning required other than replacing the bag every couple weeks and throwing it in the garbage. :) peace

It was very interesting to see the breakdown of the bus, and how this bus was assembled prior, flooring, seats, etc. I find the time lapse feature makes me dizzy and strains my eyes and I don't learn anything. Not a fan. Zero insulation or sound deadening or waterproofing on metal interiors. This is a huge shortcut that will limit your travel in some temperature zones. Live and learn, young kids! 1:12 - Leave electrical accessible from both ends. Sealing up one end is not wise. 3:04 - Heavy slab wood is only going to take away from heavy fluid and cargo capacity. Looks very lovely but you sacrificed too much. Cut slab thinner if possible. As long as its attached to cabinet below it should not warp. The acrylic coating you gave it is very prone to surface scratching. A better idea is to thin out Oil based Polyurethane, Clear Interior Satin, diluted with 40:60 Mineral Spirits. Put on a coat and let it soak in 10 mins then wipe off. Repeat 3 times, saturating the live edge. The thinned out Poly penetrates wood and edge deeply, hardening both and sealing edges. Last coat should be 50:50. Wipe down. Dry. Buff with wax if desired. When you wipe off the surface sealer it gives an artisan effect, no gloss, and scratches don't show. Renew anytime you want with light sanding. Now your countertop is resilient, scratch proof, water proof and tough as nails. 4:24 - It was smart to drill holes for mounting solar on the sloping sides of bus. Water does not pool there and you get a slight angle on each side for optimal warming. I did not see you use any Dicor lap sealant under the foot pad to seal off screw hole, as well as over it. You need both to prevent leaks. Then you mount a deck over the solar panels - Oh no! This is very self defeating. I would remount the panels on the deck instead, add glides, and slide them out like wings when I use the deck and latch into place when driving.. Bathroom, toilet, kitchen, nothing covered and disappointing. This format is not satisfying at all. You have a lot to learn about building. The interior looks nice but you left out a LOT of functional and necessary materials like insulation, noise reduction, underlayment (?). I got the feeling this was a very gung ho rushed build with little thought about all these functional needs. Building a bus is not about putting up pretty paneling and fancy live edge slabs. Its a self supporting mini eco system and your basic needs for warmth, food, hygiene have to be met. Not impressed with your research 'homework'.

imma guess it took them 3-4 months calendar time, so about 6-8 months person-time. it took me about 5 1/2 months to do a similar build on an e350 box truck, so not talking outta my asp. ;) (mine was less complicated than theirs in some aspects like painting, and fancy trim, but more complicated in terms of solar/electrical, and plumbing.)

Couldn't really see how it turned out. Even the before/after pics were small and too low to the floor. Couldn't see the sleeping area or the cooking/sink area .All I really saw was a plaid blanket or throw on a sitting area. And it's too bad because I love the short bus conversions. And it looks like he really knew what he was doing.And I bet it's nice. I just wish I could have got a good look at it.

I love this conversion! Would love to get a skoolie but I’ve been hesitant bc I heard it’s a pain to work on them so mechanics charge a lot (yes to the time lapse videos)

No insulation on the floor and no toilet? I don't understand why people do this, put so much work into a bus and it looks beautiful but without a toilet you have to go outside in all weather at all times of the day - and if you're not in a secluded area you've got a problem. That's a terrible plan.
