Just installed this today. Really easy, I found that a larger drill bit more easily removes the rivet heads after drilling a pilot hole into the shank of the rivet. Looking forward to feeling the difference with the Koni/H&R setup I went with.

Awesome video! Very clear, and straight to the point. I am in the process of refreshing the steering system on my '02 E46, and thought about going this route.

FYI you can still get this from Ireland engineering motors for about $30! It’s not on ECS anymore.

If that’s true, get one! Hands down one of the best mods/maintenance you can do.

You can get it even cheaper from the original manufacturer, Prothane. It's actually made for a 1970s Datsun/Nissan 240/260/280z. I got mine off Amazon for 15 bucks USD. You need to buy your own bolts and nuts though. Mine ended up being 30 bucks Canadian after conversion, shipping/import, and a trip to the hardware store. The Prothane part number is 14-701, even though ingraved on the side of the part says it says 60576.

I’m sure the steering is much tighter and more responsive, but how about NVH? Any vibrations, new noises, or any other details now felt in the steering wheel?

No it’s really been a fantastic upgrade. I know my car isn’t daily driven, but I would absolutely recommend this for any street car.

At the min my car drives crap and have abandoned my e46 build as i hate driving the car now, im so gutted as the original m sport suspension was way better

How does it hold up? I want to do the same mod but have heard that poly doesn't work great fot that part and breaks over time I'm considering between this and just welding the same part from bmw e34 because e34 has it metal from the factory

It’s been great so far. I don’t drive the car much so it might take awhile to wear out if that’s the case. If I did the same upgrade again I’d do a solid one.

How does vibration compare to a new rubber bushing?

None. No vibration at all! In fact if anything I would do the solid one from condor speed shop. This one is good. Just not as good as solid.

how big is the difference between a polyurethan and a billet one too drive? is this a good Idea for a E46 I choose too drive daily?

Would you say there are any noticeable differences in the noise or vibration of the polyurethane guibo? Im thinking about doing this but im afraid it will hinder the oem feel. I basically want the tighter steering just not if theres any noticeable drawbacks lol

I did this mod on me coupler and the feel is great but it also made steering very spongy doing quick turns back and forth. This modification is not worth it!

Same thickness ? Because if not it will cause you a problem on the streering wheel

Hi guys , just wondered if you could help me ive had a nightmare, i took my car for an m.o.t and they told me a rear spring and shock was knackered on the original e46 m sport suspension. I read that the bilstien b4 suspension was a good replacement so i went ahead and swapped them out. My trouble came when i realised the rear camber is nothing like my original and is terrible in the wet for grip and also road noise. I know without adjustable toe arms i have little to adjust so im going to try that route. I just wondered if there is a standard camber setting for the rear or is it just trial and error once i have the adjustable arms on ?

Sorry to hear this! I believe most camber is set up on a stock car to be closer to 0. And like you said a set of arms would fix that. The adjustable arms should only run you like $200 that’s where I would start. After installing them I would take it somewhere to get the adjusted and then aligned

The rear lower control arm does have about .6° degree adjustable cam. Any amount of lowering will likely push the camber outside of “Green” unfortunately, but it’s worth a try to adjust to full positive and see if falls within spec.

They don’t sell this exact one anymore. ECS tuning sells a solid one. That’s what I’ll be buying next.

this steering coupler is the stupidest thing bmw does to us , today it brake up with and i lose steering immediately while driving i could have died if it broke 5 min before when i was on the highway ...

I haven’t. If they are similar parts they should be compatible. I know the 39 is different in many ways. From my experience, I’d say it’s probably not the same.
