In defense to the Giants, the Eagles are in a much better place to be able to pay running back that much because the rest of their team is set. Giants still have a lot of work to do.

@@mr.nmtrue5059 1. a QB is a lot harder to replace than a RB. 2. They tried offering Saquon a contract multiple times a couple years ago, but his continued refusal forced them to use the tag on him and not DJ.

@@Phayrone he was offered just over 22mill guaranteed in 2022/2023, Eagles guaranteed him 26mill. Yearly earnings is pretty much the same. Missed out signing a deal a year earlier which would’ve given him a 3rd contract sooner, and missed out on the extra cash in 2023.

Saquon is not the only person in the league who can run the ball. I’m glad Saquon got his money, Giants moving on was not personal it’s what they needed to do for their roster. Well we shall see, I don’t think Joe is based in his decisions on y’all‘s opinions. Everybody has one! you, have to do your meaningless show and Joe Shane has to run an actual NFL team.

@@Somdeb10they still paid a less than mediocre Quarterback $40 million when Gardner mindshew just signed a $25 million contract for two years. For Daniel Jones’s one year contract, they could have had an average quarterback and outstanding running back locked up for two years and still had money to build a team. The Contract for jones just doesn’t make sense.

@@PD-qu8dq they paid him because they had just won a playoff game with him and Barkley, they wanted to try and sign Barkley first but he declined every offer they made to him. So since he wasn’t budging, they decided to pay Jones since the franchise tag deadline was approaching and they didn’t want to lose one of them or potentially both. That’s how this works, you don’t just can your QB after you won a playoff game especially in your first year. Now did it backfire? Yes but that’s gonna happen, mistakes will be made but again as I said, they structured the deal in a way where if he does underperform and doesn’t improve which is looking likely, they can get out of it after next season. I just said this in my other comment and you’re repeating the same thing the other guy said. I’ve addressed this already 😂 Refer to my other comment since it’s pretty much the same thing

If we signed saquon, they'd be saying the opposite... "why sign this guy to that much when you have all those other holes".. glad he got his money but he is an Eagle now... we moved on. He and his new teammates can talk all year. This was good for the franchise. If Dj doesnt produce hes out. This is it... we draft qb next year and plug him in with weapons in place... just my opinion. Looking forward to football season

These guys are idiots. The Giants could not have signed Saquan to the same deal. They need to put more money into other positions. Not everyone likes to do what the Eagles do and push money back 3 and 4 years. In year 3 saquan has an almost $20 million cap hit. The Eagles built their team to win this year or next. Then the cap issues will hit. Besides Singletary is less than 1/2 the price and isnt that much worse than Barkley

They shouldn’t have gave Daniel that horrible contract, he wasn’t playing like a $40 million dollar quarterback. They could have locked up Daniel and Saquon for atleast a couple more years if they chopped down Daniel Jones’s guarantees. He costs the Giants from 2023-2025(if cut) $85 million 2023-2025(if they have on the roster in 2025) $105 million. That $105 million could have brought in a lot of pieces.

People need to rewatch the film. In Jacksonville 2022 he ran OB 4x’s on what should’ve been the game ending drive. Jacksonville was 1 yard from stealing the game back.

Why don’t these analysts get the point Shoen was making. He wasn’t saying Jones doesn’t need Barkely or is better off without him. His point was that in order to fully evaluate Jones to see if he is the future or not, they need to get him a better o line to keep him upright, which is what they did with the money they saved by not re-signing saquon, and also they want to see how he does in a throw first offensive scheme. Which they’ve never done yet because they had no WR and an elite RB. Now they have a potentially elite WR and no RB to rely on so it’s make or break time for Jones.

Barkley still has no stiff arm, only carries in his right arm, no trucking desire, doesn’t carry with elbow stuck to ribs, lack of situational awareness, goes OB vs last defenders CB/S to avoid contact, just a little quick dog in him.

You build the offense to get better for whoever is going to be there. Jones can be done after this year. You don’t have money to improve elsewhere if you’re overpaying a “Touched by Injury” RB. Barkley didn’t bring the offer back to match did he? Not only was he making more than most RB’s due to draft position, but also by being in NY while not winning or leading the league. Now his usage goes down. Better get a ring, hope the Eagles don’t dump him, or be happy with the bag.

Barkley was a luxury on a losing team that is in the process of rebuilding. He wasn't ever gonna take the Giants to a different level especially with Daniel Jones at QB. Paying him top money with no offensive line and a QB coming off injury isn't smart. The Giants had one of the worst offenses even with Barkley. Smart move letting him go. Just hate that he went to the Eagles.

The excitement wore off & 25-48-1 happened. Stay excited. My favorite part of Hard Knocks was the opening sequence when Schoen clowned Gio. Gio sucks

The Giants may be at a bigger advantage without Saquon than most people realize. The best ability is availability, And Saquon has failed to stay healthy for more than half his career. This was the main problem why it never really worked out. Devin Singletary was signed to replace him. He may not be the same talent, But he does stay healthy and he does move the chains. Best of all - He saves the Giants alot of Cap Space allowing them to fill alot of holes on their roster. Between That, And the fact that they drafted an explosive wide receiver in Malik Nabors - The Giants are pretty much setting themselves up to win. Nabors makes QB's look better than they are. Don't be surprised if Daniel Jones has a career year because of him.

I'm sick of hearing about Saquon. When Daniel was out last year, he did nothing. How many bad Olines did Barry Sanders have during his career? Rest in peace, Ralph Kiner (great baseball player and long-time NY Mets broadcaster). During the Mets broadcast, he often shared a story about asking his general manager. Branch Rickey for a raise after having an mvp like season. Rickey asked Ralph Kiner what position the Pirates finished in that season. Kinwer reported that the team finished in last place. Reportedly, the team finished in last place. "Well," Rickey said, "We finished last with you." We can finish last without you." I wish people would stop blaming the Giants. The irony is all you talking heads says that the Giants are going to finish last...they are a bad team...you guys would have said the same thing if Saquon was on the team this year. There is a lot of subtext in HK about Saquon. Saquaon did not want to be there period. He wanted to go to Philadelphia and now he has his wish.

I partially blame Waller taking so long to retire. If he would’ve retired earlier and the giants had that extra cap they probably would’ve paid him. What’s done is done and he will be missed. Now with the Waller money we should go get Stephon Gilmore

Saquon is overpaid, overrated, and over there. He breaks too easily, and is the Darren Waller of RBs. Sometimes he did great things, but is now old and broken. Doubt he will make it to the Giants games.

Are you kidding me 🤡? Saquon has never played behind an O-line like this and has played his entire career on the worst football 🏈 field in the country. I can't wait till the eagles O-line parts the red sea 🌊 for Barkley. Also green bays run defense is horrible. I guarantee Barkley will go off for 125+ yards rushing against them week 1.
