This video talks about starting out as a mercenary, working your way up to a vassal, then finally forming your own kingdom. After we also speak about party management, forming armies and good companions.

6:20 there is something you can add to this information, if you enter any settlement(city, castle or village) it will refresh the last place a lord was seen.

11:05 You don't need to make peace, all you do before leaving the current kingdom you serve. Do the main quest, then when to pick which path you want, when you fill all the requirements, then leave the kingdom, they will go war with you since you keep their kingdom fief, go talk to one of the two NPC's, then your own kingdom created, the previous kingdom will be at peace automatically with you, since you had the great banner, they should respect that banner and recognize you as their peers. 1. Prepare for leaving kingdom from main quest. 2. Make sure you meet all the requirement on which path you want to choose. 3. Go to one of the two NPC town. 4. Leave the kingdom. They go to war with you. 5. Talk to one of the two NPC. 6. Create your own kingdom. The previous kingdom automatically peace with you.

That's not the case anymore in 1.4.1 I was expecting that for my playthrough but they were still at war with me so I had to race home to defend my fiefs and found some mercenary clans along the way

Personally I go the trade or blacksmith routes in the beginning amd when I can make more parties I just keep them all with me since it takes no influence to form an army with your clan parties it levels your leadership constantly and its essentially just an easier way to raise your own parties size by keeping all the parties in your clan together

Nice tutorial. Looking forward to part two. Also when you make an army with a companion you gain lots of leadership skill points which is amazing for your character.. To make an amazing Commander companion it can take time, unless you can chose someone with awesome stats beforehand. You can make a really strong warrior companion to a great commander if you set quartermaster to that companion to gain 'steward' skill points which means that companion can make a much bigger army when he/she goes recruiting. Same when setting a companion to surgeon. But that will also mean you pay more each day for your troops since most probably your character has much more points in steward, same for surgeon skill ponts.

Brother, ya when I first started it was a grind but I got my own big kingdom. I gotta watch these kinds of videos cause now its hard trying to get a big army , kingdom and pay for it all as well as getting vassels

I’m having trouble starting my own kingdom. It’s only my third play through (jest 2 we’re promptly deleted due to slow progress or bad skill placement) and I immediately hate the idea of being a Merc or Vassal. But starting a kingdom from nothing also seems impossible

Do you suggest starting in the campaign mode over sandbox? Im finding myself wanting to go back and pick campaign for the starting family members it gives you one usable and 2 younger siblings

Note: AI are cheating when recruiting, for example when villages raided, AI can recruit (including for companion party), but not player. Keep that in mind. Patch e1.4.0.x

In my exp, most companions are trash as army leaders, so I don't even give them any of my troops, when I start them. I just let them run around and hire on their own. Yes, sometimes they get captured if you start them off in a bandit infested area - that is the risk. But for the most part it has worked out well - I don't need to give them any of my tier3+ troops (i use the prisoner recruitment strat for maintaining my army - so giving away troops would put me at a disadvantage). Wouldn't mind hearing what people think are the "best" companion army leaders? (steward for party size, medicine for healing, higher tactics? Or better to have high weapon skills? And/or, higher tactics might be better for auto resolve fights? while higher weapon skills would be better if you enter every siege/fight?)

i usually take low level companions (lvl 7-9) from my own culture, level them up and invest 3 skill points in steward. Assign said companion "Quartermaster" of my party (they level it very fast). Next skill points go to tactics, i dont go for medicine cause they usually take a lot to level up (maybe choose a companion with good tactics/medicine in the first place would be a good idea). When starting a companion party, i always give him good gear and a minimum 20 cavalry (tier 3/4), never got a companion captured!

i use spice vendor,swift,my wife,the engineer companion have decent party size too i only give troops to my wife and i only give her troops i dont want ,other companion i just use has recruiters to fill my garrison etc ...

Can you only start a kingdom if you complete the dragon banner mission? It expired on me so I couldn't complete it. Warband you could just wait til they refuse you a fief then defect.

either finish the main quest or wait until your clan tier 4 and get one settlement, then you can make a kingdom from your clan tab
