Yep if they want the player to take their time then they must deal with the snowballing. Probably the best method would be to implement the rebellion mechanics that related to settlement loyalty - give the player and dead factions a method of breaking up a snowballing faction. Otherwise once a single faction can field multiple 1000+ armies at a time then the kingdom building part of the game is over.

@@italianspartacus no, we all install an XP mod, makes the pacing and progression so much more fun. The level cap is 250 for God's sake, it still takes 50 hours or more to get there even with 2x XP. Game gets boring when you get your own kingdom anyway, since you can control more armies at once like a grand strategy game and so you just maintain your borders over and over again with no time to do anything else

Empire background should help kingdom phase immensely, while Khuzait/Battanian backgrounds both let you choose your battles more effectively. By the time you get to Kingdom phase, you'd definitely wish you chose Vlandians or Empire over Aserai anyway, as the benefit of Aserai is definitely an earlygame bonus (which is easy enough already). Considering kingdom phase is the more difficult portion of the game at the moment, it's better to go for buffs to your kingdom phase.

For the party wage issue, a cool trick is when not at war go around villages and get quests where you can send your companions together with your most expensive troops. They will be gone around 3-15 days so they won't count for your daily expenses, plus you will get rep with the villages and gold for completing quests. Win, win.

@YT-zy7wd
@YT-zy7wd 4 жыл бұрын
@@j.i.709 Troops don't die if you send them to do quests with a companion. I've never had a failed quest so far in 3 different runs. The only issue you might face is that in order to send a companion on a quest, they need to have certain skills depending on the quest (might require high charm or high tactics or something else). Which means you need to be very strategic about which companions you choose. I usually go with one medic, one engineer, one one with high tactics, one with high tracking and the rest based on what I need for that specific game.

Lorenzo Fajardo they normally need some days to solve the quest, it will show how many days remain till they return back to you. They do kinda like disappear as u dont see them being there at all. No party showing up. What i did after sending them i left for another town to do some shit there and looked on the quest tab for the remaining days till my troops come back. I expected them to travel back to me like a normal party but my troop number on the bottom just suddenly went to full army size and back they were. Or i just didnt see them coming, there was alot of traffic by the town i was. @Y T as my troops are mostly all elite tier already i cant really tell, but do the troops which u send along with the companion actually gain experience?

5:07 Another word of caution: each faction tend to declare war on all other factions at some point, at least once. I had lost two tanneries in Sturgia after I joined Aserai. Aserai is the polar opposite to Sturgia and have no castle/town near Sturgia, and Sturgia still managed to declare war on Aserai. That is not something you can plan, and one war declaration is enough to take away workshop from you. Even with the recent patch (the new vote on war/peace), you don't alway have a fat enough bank of influence to save your foreign workshops. Warband workshop would only be temporary disabled, they should impliment that.

Tip 6a: Enjoy the journey cuz the destination is a retirement home :-P I set RP goals rather than just conquer the map. This play through, I'm a dwarven smith, goal is unlocking every single part & unlocking all perks in every weapon genre. There's a huge soft-limit on smithing because I can make 100k+ items easily and... can't sell them. I've beggared every city. So now I'm pushing every other kingdom's economy so they can afford my prices. Difficult, challenging. Favorite playthrough so far was a 7' Sturgian Kurgan; 2-hander only, on foot only, kill for loot & renown, conquer-only fiefs. Roaring fun. There can be only one... until the next one

I see. well idk if they will wind up using your crafted weapons and they will only cost that much if you make master work out of the higher weapon tier parts. to get that and the ore's will take a lot of time and money to do it. and I had seen the lot being used as area prizes for tournaments. though idk if that will help you or the economy long term by having a lot of those crafted weapons floating around like that? I mean would that make it to the troops themselves or where at? and as of now you can't make shields, bows (including crossbows and there ammo types.) and all armors :( cause if and when we can get to making that well things will be quite interesting indeed. :) and side note I use the wemod program to truly let lose on what one can do with a power level character and I do say the cheese is fun with that. :)

Smithing and selling two handed pole arms is a great way to make enough money to not worry about troop costs, or any kind of money issues ever. The right pole arm can sell for 60,000+ and cost 4 Fine steel or less (depends on the blade used). You can get this fairly early and end up having great weapons and armor for you and your companions within 2 in game months easy.

There's a way to make double off bandit hideouts. If you come across one, there's probably a mission in the closest city (in my case a gang leader's followers kidnapped by bandits) and a mission in the surrounding villages asking you to deal with nearby bandit camp. By raiding the bandit camp you complete both and get a double reward:)

tip 7 - just go to Battania early on, great prices, good trading, easiest tournments to beat nobles, more condensed villages, good workshop locations, access to the best archers, and right next to the empire/sturgia for the best heavy cav and both best infantry lines... Just has everything going for it tbh, unless you are horse archer spamming I guess.

It's cool with the beta tester knowledge that its meant to be a slower game start and I hope they lean into that as development goes on, like having more to do as a rogue clan and increasing the gap between nobles and non-nobles--make it difficult to become a noble. Maybe relation can play a part with it--you have to raise relation with a ruling clan, or with another kingdom clan and have their head sponsor your bid for becoming a lord.

Yeah, early game feels very quick atm. I'd like to see more player driven story generation go into actually being able to recruit people in the first place. Like straight off the bat I can recruit "recruits" which will "evolve" into elite troops given experience. Imo it would be better to hire "hands" for more "normal" behaviour like looting, farm work, workshop labour etc, that you can then use to form a small band and lease out your services to whoever can pay for them. E.g a recently raided village is short on farm hands, or requires some extra man power for reconstruction. The party members would then gain experience allowing them to upgrade into what job they're performing e.g hunting would be bows, logging two hander, smithing one hander, farming polearm etc. Then as you level up you can learn skills to begin to more directly train your party members, perhaps becoming more military oriented (or perhaps not, using "civilian troop lines" to more effectively complete your civilian tasks, i.e. more consistent denar generation). The longer a "troop" has been in your employ for, the greater the loyalty generation, which may act as a prerequisite for bodyguard troops, whilst also keeping them around for longer when party morale is low. Denars also come very quickly in the early game, for tournaments you should need a sponsor, that you can only gain through a combination of renown, relations level, and proven combat record (I.e fighting with someone independent/reputable around, e.g. tavern brawl, helping a lord, helping a village etc). Something similar should go for selling smithed weapons, you need to build up your reputation first. Realistically who would spend 110k denars on a weapon produced by an unknown Smith? Cultivate the "lucky break" by helping out merchants or lords, who may then give you a chance or recommend you as dependable to their contacts. Maybe you have to work under a more experienced Smith first, smithing in their name before branching out on your own, creating a whole new aspect of the character arc to do with craftsmen and their reputation/contacts. Maybe this is too much to expect for the base game, but hopefully some mods will do something similar. Rather than "win" the game, I get much more enjoyment from roleplaying and forging my own story.

Usually, I'd distribute at least 2-3 points at Riding (Walking will go up eventually since mostly I've to spend battle and not sieging), Second hand Axe and Bow at the beginning, and try to max Stewarding and Trading points, then Leadership, then follows 1 melee and 1 range equip for companions that they already high level at, companion AI will not use more than 2 melees and 2 ranged weapons, they will just stick to what they already prefered or allocated at the beginning. If companion specialises in Scout/Medicine/Engineer (usually I've made it to a wife as engineer), (make sure to max the points it before anything else or at least have 1 point for melee & range) and so on so forth, plan out which companion for party/army/if you plan to swap later on for a late game. If there is trading companion, I've made it as caravan only, if nothing as trading, make sure to have any companion with at least 1 or 2 points as trading, because at 0 point trading for companion, they don't make any profit what so ever. Other than asking us to pay for their party.

To your point about taking our time before applying ourselves as a mercenary force, I think what would help exude that concept (maybe already in the works) is a home base. Maybe a player home, or to allow breathing room against upkeep. I often find my playthroughs marred with the fact that I'm rushing toward stability in the form of fiefs/trade/caravans. In that sense, I skip quests because I feel that the time and reward is not as impactful in its immediacy. I understand much of this game remains in its infancy, but I hope more will be done to allow for rogue styles of play. (edit) A handful of years ago, I thought that the current build of the game would allow for a more organically transformative experience in terms of character development. Especially, with the introductions of quests and lineage. For example, you could work as a blacksmith (insert trade) raise funds, then raise enough as a mercenary force. If that is not the direction the game goes then I'm fine with playing Warband 2.0. I just thought it would be a little different is all.

Very nice tips. I discovered them through just enjoying myself and not urging anything. Also a huge help is smithing. It's very slow progress but when you get to a good level it's denar time! All those bandits and battles will give you so much metals to forge with. And it'll make you see the world, roaming around in search of hard wood. But you get that from pitch forks and wooden hammers too, fighting bandits.

Hey! Big fan of all you do to caver Bannerlord! The big obstacle in every campaign I start is transitioning from that rouge clan (early game), to a successful vassal and/or kingdom (mid and late game). I always seem to stall out at this point. I'm either helplessly at the whim of the AI team mate as a vassal with no control over the success or failure of the kingdom, or at best, manage to start a kingdom with one settlement and at a loss for how to grow and expand.
@italianspartacus
@italianspartacus 4 жыл бұрын
AHOY!! So what you really need to focus on is your leadership/steward. Getting +5 or even +6 food variety at the START is going to be huge by the time you reach mid-game. Also, switch from whatever weapon combo you're using, to a different one. you won't be as effective, but you'll start to get more levels. The key here is that if your steward/leadership gets really high, you can field 150-200 man armies on you OWN, and then, send your companions off to become parties of their own accord. If you do this, you'll be able to rally a 300-400 (depending on the skills of your companion) man army, with just your own men. It won't cost you ANY influence, and it's a great way to at least patrol the kingdom and take over castles that have recently just been captured. You can also add a lot of aid with an army of that size to another one of your allied armies that is sieging/fighting. i hope this helps man. the mid game is a very sticky spot, and once we get some more patches/content, it will unfortunately always be a stalling point. BUT WORRY NOT! They said in their dev letter that they're addressing the leveling issues :)

Great video Italian Spartacus! I tried the slower play through in my last run down, but found it a little frustrating as I didn't find a "Quest Chain" so much as randomised missions from a random faction leader, which required me to go around to each of the faction leaders after completing one of the quests to see if another quest had spawned. I still had fun with my character though. And kept them on foot, one handed, two handed until they reached 100 athletics, then rocketed through the mid to late teens by switching to horse bow and pole arm.

They should add a crusade option or add a Templar’s faction where you have to prove yourself worthy of god and not commit any sins. When your a Templar you can only use Templar brother knights or Templar recruits. You’ll have to worry about each solder because you’ll have a limited amount of them before the Temple can find and train more recruits.(Note these solders should be a little overpowered compared to a regular infantry man but you have a limited amount of them) And if you sin or do an unholy act you’ll get banished from the brotherhood. This should be added as a DLC or in a future update. Forgot, add the pope and religion effects.

I'd add marry someone who leads an army of the troop type you want to focus in when you can afford the troop upkeep. I recently married Honoratus and gained about a dozen Bucellarii and a half dozen cataphracts, the horses alone cost more then I paid. I also nabbed quite a few legionaries and crossbowmen, still ended up disbanding most of the army, but I was able to get a huge boost to my army. Also, marriage sets you up for the long haul, the sooner you marry the sooner your children will come of age and fight for you.

Quick addendum to workshops: As of 1.40 the best workshops are Tanneries, Smithies, and Breweries. Smithies need at least on source if iron ore nearby to make good money, Breweies need at least 2 grain villages, and Tanneries seam to be bugged and don't require any resources to be profiable. My workshop stategy is to find the highest prosperity town you can (5000+ depending on how far your into your campaign), build a smithy if it has iron, a brewery if it has grain, or a tanerry if it has neither.

The recruits portion, it helps to note you're playing on very easy, so it gives you access to 2 more slots to recruit troops. If you play on realistic, you only get access to 1 slot and would need to really work on the relation with the individuals. Would recommend explaining that for the new players.

My hope is that this will make it a lot easier to recruit lords to my own kingdom when I form one, as an issue i hit last time was that I made one too quickly then couldn't get any other clans to join me.

I think they should make it sort of like ck2 where you can’t really finish a campaign without playing as multiple generations. I think that would really add some more depth into the game. ItalianSpartacus, loving your vids man, they have helped so much. so,so true on the early boost to your int and soc skills. i tried a trader character/game this last time/current. glad i maxed out all my focus points in all those skills connected to them. a question or 2 for you? at what point is a skill considered high? there is one of the policies that states if you have a high charm skill you get +1 influence but if its low lose -1........ with armies and the leadership skill, i can call my companions to me to make an army, then just walk around the map building leadership skill till cohesion loss and bust up. at which point/troop count does that come into effect? what i am saying is the minimum number of troops? 100?150?200? quick tips for everyone else.. always keep an abundance of grain, so that you never run out of food. if you start starving, you lose 5 morale and it gets worse. always try to keep a bit of all the other food around and in your storage, a +7 food variety is a quick way to level up points in steward. its either every 3 or 5 points in steward allows you 1 more to your troop limit. under clan tab, always assign your self as the quartermaster, also another small boost to troop count. the extortion by deserters quest is great, can help you and your party in so many ways. 1st, the denars- it pays pretty well, but if you refuse the gold instead build relation quicker and charm skill gets a 1-3 point boost after every couple you do. 2nd, you get 10-25 prisoners of the major faction type, so if you just run around with them as prisoners pretty soon they'll want to join you. its a great way to fill up a castle garrison or get enough troops to start a companion party.
@italianspartacus
@italianspartacus 4 жыл бұрын
I'd say that 100 point skill threshold is when it starts to really slow down, but that doesn't mean it's a crawl, it just means you really need to stack trying to gain it quickly.. like high food variety for steward for example! :) I've heard that "high charm skill" break point is 70 something, but I've yet to test it myself i'm afraid :( also! GREAT TIPS BROTHER! :)

By spending time in training fights/tournaments in the different factions you can level up the different weapon skill lines. Two-handers in Battania, crossbows in Vlandia, etc.And ofc polearms by using billhooks ^^ Tbh I don't do this without the mod ''Tournament XPanded'', which gives you the normal XP gains in there. I understand that the XP gains was ''balanced'' at 25% for tournaments and 6% for training fights. Balanced mmo-style I guess...
@JacksonOwex

With the fact that so many tournaments are ALWAYS going one i understand putting serious limitations on the XP you gain from them and the practice fights, which can be done ALL THE TIME.
@anonymus2482
@anonymus2482 4 жыл бұрын
@@JacksonOwex The only alternative is fighting battles which you can do all the time as well. The problem with those is you normally don't get that much of an opportunity in there to properly level up the different weapon skill lines, so they would all advance at a nice pace. The battles are over way too fast and your troops kill almost all of the enemies. At least in training fights you are being fed a consistent stream of direct opponents to earn xp. But 6% XP means a lvl 14 skill levels once and that's it, despite you killing literally dozens of opponents with a particular weapon type. There is simply no progression at all there. Which is no balance at all, if you ask me. The figure (94%) reminds me of Destiny 2 throttling XP up to 95%. Now that was because of selling lootboxes, a totally different setting, just the amount of XP reduction and the exact number never being revealed (as far as I know) reminds me of it.

Income has never been a problem, just learn to smith and basically print your own money. Pugios are a good help here. Cheap at 254 ish denars and when broken down, give you loads of good quality metals for crafting far more expensive weapons. I recommend 2 handed polearms, Javelins and two handed swords, you can easily make weapons upwards of 100,000 denars (once you unlock the parts)

I used to think there were clear winners in the culture bonuses, but I find that it actually balances out to be pretty negligible after making several characters. Sturgia’s bonus is worthless if you never travel north for example but usually you do. Likewise Aserai bonus is nice, but you can get to the point where money is never an issue without any trouble regardless if you know what your doing so it doesn’t actually matter etc.

I really disagree with your assessments. Money is trivial even in the early game (either by trading or blacksmithing) not to mention workshops don't sap valuable companion slots and the increase in troop xp doesn't make a huge difference. Meanwhile sieges are where there's a ton of dead time just standing around and/or urgent (if you're trying to sneak a castle) you can do making imperials highly valuable. Then speed is a massively limiting factor making either Khuzait (if you tend towards super concentrated cav) or battanians amazing choices.

Best tip so far is: Invest in smithing. Each crafted javelin only used iron and wood and you can sell each one by 100k gold. You can also give them to other lords in order to convince them to join your faction but they must be outside of a castle or city (when they are inside they only accept gold, don't ask me why, but I tested). I've managed to create a kingdom with 9k strength while my character was 39 yrs old (I choose to start as a 20yr old). I'm playing as a sturgian, became a vassal for vlandia, married and had heirs (in case my chracter died), started a rebellion, wiped out vlandia, conquered part of battania and the western empire and I'm planning to wipe out both the sturgians and battanians. Did pretty much all that with smithing as my primary. Combat skills are two handed (cause 2h crafted axes deal 143 dmg and can kill more than one enemy at once), one handed (crafted sword dealing 100 dmg), throwing and athletics. Riding as a secondary. Last is leadership and tactics. EDIT: Also maximize Charm.

Hey Spartacus can you clear something up for me? You said build workshops where you won’t have war. How does this work when the place where all your workshops are declare war on you? Do workshops disappear immediately upon war being declared? It’s impossible to build workshops where you won’t have war since diplomacy is so broken and everyone always declares war, even with Diplomacy Fixes. The income of the game is one reason I don’t play as much as I did. It’s hard to enjoy the game when just to recruit one vassal can be upwards of ten mil gold...seems like I can’t work for anything or progress much in end game. No mention of Blacksmithing for early cash? This is one of the best methods in my opinion. Get weapons from looters, head to Battania area villages for best hardwood prices, then craft two handed swords, as you go along craft the best version with highest tiered parts you have unlocked and can make materials for. Great early game money and it ramps up a lot once you unlock good parts, hard for me do trade or other methods for early game money since this is so effective. Also a useful tip is buy Pugio knifes in Empire cities, and Southern Throwing knifes(not sure if location specific, I find in Battania a lot) - these are cheap and smelt into good quality metals, great hack for smithing higher end stuff if you dont have skill to craft them yourself.

For the conspiracy quest, it's because you chose to go anti imperial rather than anti native. It should only be imperial cultures that are trying to attack you. For me I waited until it got to 2000, then when they all declared war I spent the influence I had saved to make peace with all but one. I'm just going round the map starting wars and making peace, chipping away at each faction individually. Once the conspiracy quest completes, and they start war on you, then you can finish the "war quests" by giving each faction a good thrashing.
