With ancient philosophy covered, it's time to move into medieval philosophy. This era is dominated by a strong link with theology, and all the most significant contributors to philosophy in this era were largely commenting on religious doctrine. But figures like Aristotle still had a strong influence on these thinkers, so let's see what sort of progress was made during these centuries.

Dave reads almost every comment in his comment sections, especially if you comment early on a new video. He probably read your comment. I'm sorry this "Tyler Henry" guy is bilking folks. I don't know if Dave is aware of Tyler or if Dave has already spoken on Tyler Henry. I would be interested in hearing from Dave about any con artist. Thank you.

I am acquainted with publications of Adam Rutherford, I loved his show The Cell, also I am acquainted with Jacks Szostak work, as well as Nick Lane, David Deamer. I think you could make an educational series about this topic that could clarify the science approach and make many people doubt the religious fraud

It is worth noting that *whenever you study a philosopher who is religious, who is talking about anything to do with their religion/theology, they are not doing philosophy, they are doing apologetics. These are not the same.* Philosophy is honest enquiring and truth-seeking, apologetics is making excuses or a defense for what they already assume without reason, to be true.

@@Jd-808 You can't know what they were thinking. It is naive and patronising to the people of the past to think they all didn't/couldn't know better so must have been convinced of the religion they were surrounded by. You can however, make the argument that their material circumstances were contingent on their publically advocating for/defending the religion of the day because well, we know what would happen if they didn't...
@satyasyasatyasya5746

@@ProfessorDaveExplains Well, I think its worth acknowledging that their material circumstances, livelyhoods and even lives were contingent on their continued presentation of being believers no matter the era. Especially in times and places where they could be uh 'dealt with' if they questioned the religion of the day which was often synonomous with the powerful/elites. Perhaps today there's more "i know this isn't true but I'm gonna say it is anyway" but in the past, I'm sure there was far more "I don't think this is true but I may as well write about/defend it because they'll get me" than we like to admit. Also, they probably enjoyed being considered smart or something for their day.

@@satyasyasatyasya5746 You’re just spouting anachronistic antitheist claptrap. You’re the one presuming that what they think isn’t what they tell us but the result of this made-up narrative that pits these people as victims of religious intolerance. You should probably educate yourself on stoicism and Neoplatonism because, guess what, they are “religious” as well. You’re essentially arguing philosophy didn’t exist until around the enlightenment. It’s absurd.
