I had a seizure seemingly out of nowhere, but now realizing I had signs and symptoms for months. This information is helpful to know because not all warning signs of a seizure are the same.

So, I watched this a bit ago, maybe a month ago, and, I came back to it today cause... Today, I had what was I think was a seizure. And it clicked. I think I've been having seizures for over ten years, I just had no idea. Anyway, I messaged my neurologist and asked for assistance, cause it was a really bad time today. I'm getting a lumbar puncture this week to confirm/deny MS. I'm just so exhausted. Thanks for making this video. Wishing you the best. Peace.

My Neuro started calling mine dystonic spasms and tried to convince me they weren’t seizures, but now I’m having full blown tonic clonic seizures. Mine are brought on by nausea and vomiting episodes that have been chronic. We assumed it was due to rapid fluid loss but now we think the nausea and vomiting is connected to seizure like activity in the same area of the brain. Friday nobody was home and I was alone. It happened while getting out of the tub. My second to occur this way. This time I lost consciousness, for awhile it seemed. I kept trying to get to the next room to my ipad to text my mom since my phone was too far away. It took 5 tries to type “Seizure” I couldn’t move at all for about 30 minutes. I’m now looking into a life alert type system and I’m overwhelmed by the choices but I think it’s a must for anyone having seizures. Thanks for sharing your own challenges with us. I hope you are doing well right now.

Thanks- After hearing your story I was wondering if you had any warning signs. I've been on Dalfampridine since spring and of course it concerns me that I may have a seizure. Good news on your PT plans as well ;-) I've worked with many PTs over the years and thankfully the last one "got me". She had extra neuro training but was not MS Certified. She was, however, very willing to learn more. I told her what I was interested in (neuroplasticity vs strength) and right away we analyzed my walking and agreed the "swing phase" was the largest challenge. She is also the one that identified that I have calf spasticity not so much foot drop. With this awareness I made improvements ;-) now with Grethen Hawley's new book in hand and a list of all the exercises and stretches I've done over the last and a half or so I can build up my own routines as Gretchen lays out in the book and always have a workout ready ;-) I plan to continue on my own now and will add in going to our local fitness place once a week that has a therapy pool to do some leg and walking exercises in the pool ;-)

My signs are I start feeling like Im gonna cry over everything. And I get muscle tremors in my arms. I get them it. I get extremely upset or worn out. I can't hold anything during those tremors, which look more like a spazy arm. Im waking up to seizures at best and at worst... not waking up to them at all. But Im told it isn't a seizure because I didnt pee myself and Im waking up for them. :/ Im told it's likely just MS, but since Im extremely sensitive to medications, they won't even really go through pull roulette with me. I sound like Im being choked, but my left side goes stiff and my right side flails. I get more MS symptoms before and after these events. They last less than 3 minutes and zap me for up to 3 days. :/

I’m kind of tiring of hearing “it’s just your MS” but then I find myself thinking, “It’s just my MS!” Aaargh! 😮

Both my arms jerk very rapidly whenever I'm laying down to go to bed. Haven't had this bad of an episode yet but I hope you look coming God-bless.❤❤

Thank you! Do your arms get better right away? That’s interesting symptom and sounds annoying. I hope it’s not painful. At night, most nights, my right leg is frozen from the knee down and then is back to normal when I wake up.

That is very scary, I'm glad you're ok! I have MS and a couple anxiety disorders, so it's hard to tell sometimes what is actually happening. May I ask what med you were on and what you switched to?

@@SaraslivingwithMS Oh, I thought you meant that you suspected your MS med caused the seizure.

Sorry wasn’t sure what you meant. Yes I was taking Ampyra which is to help with walking. They think it could be related to that. I stopped taking it and realized it wasn’t really helping my walking anyway. Frustrating!
