Earth Pigment Roaning Technique

9 жыл бұрынThis 20 minute video will show you how to roan a model horse with wet white earth pigment. This technique is very easy and has a lot of advantages compared to roaning with acrylic paint or Prismacolor pencil.

Advantages:
* The applied pigment can be changed and worked with until it's matte sprayed.
* The roaning looks very realistic and the model horse is very smooth.
* A nice roan can be achieved in one pigment layer.
* This technique has a lot of potential to create other detailed patterns such as rabicano or a varnish roan Appaloosa if the detail is built up in layers.
Be sure to have your speaker volume on.

This technique uses titanium white oxide earth pigment and water, not oils. For anyone interested in the earth pigments, here is their website: www.earthpigments.com/

Thank you for this! I’ve always wanted to try to roan, but it’s always intimidated me. What do you do if the white becomes too thick and/or concentrated?

The paint is earth pigments with water and the tools she mentions at the beginning of the video.

That is the best Breyer custom l have ever seen! :) But I wish you did a bit of fastmotion in the parts where you were painting. :)
