This is one of those songs where Phillip Bailey show how ICONIC HE REALLY IS AND STILL IS !!!! This entire album was a great vehicle for him !! This album is AMAZING SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN 1976 !!!! IT IS A PERFECT ALBUM AND IT WAS PERFECTLY TITLED !!!!

My one of daddy’s favorite songs. Today is the anniversary of his death and I’m remembering him today by playing the music that he loves. I'm not sad like I used to be. I feel okay. Cherish your loved ones while they’re here. BUT, I love this song. Thanks for posting!

Childhood memories indeed these were the good old days I wish children today could run and play like we did in the streets hopscotch doubledutch Chinese jump rope checkers skating baseball in the street all they do is look at computers nobody knows each other or nobody knows their neighbors earthwindandfire was the first man I saw in concert and still my favorite it's a hard choice between Earth wind and fire in The Isley Brothers but Earth wind and fire has my vote God bless all of us who still listen and remember the good old days

NOTHING makes the sweetest of sounds like the Fender Rhodes, and I will never part with mine. The effect on the listener, of Larry Dunn’s poignant intro and outro on this masterpiece is absolutely spellbinding.

Yes you're right-- today I miss the sound of a Fender Rhodes-- it was everywhere in the 70s and 80s--something of the days of my youth-- listening to so many great players-- from Stevie to Patrice Rushen George Duke- Herbie and Chick-- Larry Dunn-- Deodato-great players gave the Rhodes a Golden Touch and a golden sound--literally

Larry Dunn, Richard Tee, and the Ohio Players Billy Beck are three of the coldest players on Fender Rhodes, gotta throw Jeff Lorber in there too. As far as the song spirit, it’s one I just had to learn because it’s just so spiritual. Some of the keyboard voicings are kind of tricky because the song is so orchestral. As for the Rhodes, I had to part with the sentimentality and finally sell mine. They’re much like classic cars as far as expense for upkeep, and can be difficult to find service techs for them as well. Though I miss it, I’m totally satisfied with the Roland RD 2000, Keyscape, Lounge Lizard, and Yamaha Motif, all of which have Rhodes approximations as close to the real article that you’ll find. 😎

@@Eighty8Keyze sorry to hear you had to sell your classic Rhodes-- I have a friend-- retired high school music teacher--who uses a -Kurzweil instead of a Rhodes-- producing some decent keyboard sounds-- wow Billy Beck from the Ohio Players--haven't heard that name in a while--pain pleasure and ecstasy-- his greatest work

In terms of total body of work year after year during the height of the their era. For music composition, harmony, vocals and just overall sound and quality music. EWF has to be consider on anyone's short list as the best R&B "band" of all times. Maurice White and the band were serious. I think the Isley Brothers would have to be on a short list as well.

Post CS they had several great albums . Thst ended with the Raise Album . Very sad . They were still young but too many left during the 1980’s for even Maurice to overcome.

😁 I remember when i performed this song in a church....my girlfriend(At that time), my music teacher at that time, and everybody else, gave me the biggest standing ovation....it was quite amazing...but, my girlfriend was falling all over herself. lol No one knew(Including my music teacher) that i had that in me..🤔 But, the song is called Spirit...right?? 👍🏽😁
