Hey, thank you for the updated review! I just wanted to correct you on one part. 313 121 isn’t the only unit that‘s preserved. 313 201 was bought before Southern sent the rest of the fleet for scrap. I don’t know the owner, but I sure am glad that this unit is in good hands

Re: Southern not replacing the 313s and 455s; they took a gamble that's backfired now that passenger numbers are up. So what is expected to happen is that the 30 stored 379s are going to Great Northern, releasing a smaller number of 387s to Southern for Brighton mainline services. Thus increasing capacity on both Southern and Great Northern and improving the quality of service for longer-distance GN services as the 379s are 2+2 seating instead of 3+2. I don't think the winning tender for GN's 30 unit requirement has been announced yet. Totally agree with your review. I still play this route and sometimes combine it with a return trip to London as part of my "shift". Shame it didn't go to Hastings at the least, though I'd settle with the link between Lewis and Wivelsfield.

also another note: the class 171 services did run to Brighton, but they were cut back to Eastbourne a few years ago.

I have to say I kind of find this route, especially around Glynde and Berwick somewhat peaceful for a commuter line, I often find myself playing John Ireland's Downland Suite Minuet as I drive through that section. The 313 definately spices things up, even if their introduction was a bit controversial. Although it would be better if the sounds on the ECW 377 were changed to that of the London Commuter, they do kind of add to the peacefulness weirdly IMO. As for AI trains, I think the Class 700 could also do with AI services too, heck, maybe even some depot runs

Honestly, all the open fields you see along the line are very accurate, they lack all sense of nice scenery. Also the A27 isn’t a great big dual carriageway, it’s a two way road that just gets blocked and congested because they build a cycle path instead of expanding it. Another thing, I promise I’m not trying to pick faults! But the 171s now only run from Eastbourne to Ashford and not Brighton, this is because they do not have a pick-up shoe for the third rail, meaning it’s a big waste of fuel, I only know this because I service 171s… they’re utterly crap. The diesel units from Ashford to Brighton don't run to Brighton anymore. Overcrowding is the cause of it thus Southern changed it to Ashford-Eastbourne. They don't have any of those units running from Eastbourne to Brighton for the same reason.

I know this is off topic to ECW but the sounds on the Dispolok 182 have changed such as the horn and motor sounds

This route with an extension to Ore would be AMAZING! As well as TOD4, new timetable which adds the missing VIC services, Class 387, BML Class 377 & an upgraded 313. Maybe throw in a 171 as a DLC The 313 sounds are mediocre in the game, in real life they sound even better! And Southern don't have enough trains, meaning they have now shortened current services and cut many services (MKC service now only runs to Hemel Hempstead/Watford Junction as an example, Guildford service as another)

The Class 171 only does Eastbourne - Ashford it has since 2018

Imo I feel like the Class 313 should have a massive sound update as the motor sounds are wrong aswell as the horn and no clicking noise, it needs to be heavily updated

the fact that they havent updated the 377 sounds after all this time should be criminal. its the reason i dont touch the route except for the occasional 313 service.

Have you seen DTG are revamping the West Somerset route as a free update? Maybe East Coastway will get the same treatment as they mentioned plans to go over other routes.
