We didn't have a lot of time to get up to the mountains, much less the foothills, but we had to make the effort to get out and put in a few miles. That said, enter the East West Regional Trail that runs between Parker and Highlands Ranch, some 28 miles.
Granted, we only hiked a mere 6.03 miles, it was good to be out on a trail and in the outdoors on a beautiful Colorado day. We drove around looking for the trailhead, somewhat blind, Miller's phone wasn't getting a signal and Debbie's was almost drained. Eventually we figured it out, but once on trail it was more of a guessing game. None the less, we got in a good hike and found some new places to return to.
We parked at the Southridge Recreation Center and started out on the West Fork Big Dry Creek Trail and found our way over to the "unknown to us at the time" East West Regional Trail. We walked for a while until we came to another trailhead with a map where we discovered what trail we had been on. Definitely a trail we want to get back to a walk end to end. We returned the way we came and put in just over 6 miles.
