Lol, I must have run one of the first Hurco machines made. It was a converted Bridgeport vertical mill. No enclosures so chips would fly everywhere! Coolant was added and of course that flew everywhere as well. Clothes were wet at the end of the day. Great video! Enjoyed👍🇨🇦

I love watching the progress you are making and how down to earth you are. I am a business owner myself and you are spot on. Played hockey for 13 years, I was a right defenseman, yup you better keep your head up or your gonna feel it in the morning. Of course 34 years later I think my body is feeling every check at this point. You have an awesome product, I live in the USA and always try to support American made products, however I must say when there's a superior product (Eastonmade) I can't help but support a Canadian brother. Talked to Jerry yesterday and he was very helpful and I will be having an Eastonmade parked in the woodlot in a few months.

Just like on the farm here...have to spend money to make money!! I really enjoy watching your videos. Here in Minnesota I have not seen one of your machines in the flesh, but i am really excited to someday get an Axis. I am a 60 year old farmer with a really bad back that I think the Axis would be unbelievable for me. I burn wood yet in the house and shop. I just look forward to not bending over splitting wood!! I have several guys that I know will see that and want one to!! I need to get another baler and tractor right now, but the Axis is on my list!!

Andrew, we appreciate your efforts. We started a small family firewood business and quickly realized that there is no way our tw-5 could keep up with the big demand and large supply of tree service wood. Recently got a 37d on order, hoping you continue to carve out process improvements and reduce the wait times. How about making production of all 37Ds that were ordered all at once? -😜 Efficiency in pipeline 😅

You will always have a bottleneck...but many times, machinery will pay for itself many times over through labour savings, shorter lead times, improved employee morale and higher output each and every week. Gotta say - Austin must have some serious pipes lifting those steel wedges all day, everyday!

Andrew, I am from a manufacturing background, we practiced Lean manufacturing for many years. If you haven’t looked it up yet, it would be very beneficial!And I also played hockey all my life. I was actually fortunate enough to be named captain of our very first state champion team. I learned a lot at a young age about leadership and teammates. Same as being in business. Never overproduce in one department just because it is a faster process. Ties up capital and creates unsold inventory. Love these plant videos!

Are the wedges only bevelled on one side, or do you need to flip the material over to put a center V on it. Larry was telling me about this new equipment, but it's great to see it working. It is incredibly fast for a milling machine.

Look into using high feed milling cutters they will hold up longer. They would be cutting about 1mm depth and about 4 to 5 times the feed rate.Then you could stand part up and do both sides of the bevel and only have to clamp the part once will save alot of time as well and reduce the oops of putting part in wrong way.

@EastonmadeWoodSplitters you will like them. The inserts will get to look crappy but will still cut good. Once you find what your tool life will be, you should be able to set the machines tool life so it will let you know when inserts should be changed.

I'm sure you'll be in good shape business wise, especially since you're in Canada. My dad payed 11.5% with great credit for a home loan in the 80s here in the states. So yeah people are maybe a bit paranoid. But things are waaaay different these days and what you HAVE to pay for to live. Aka.. internet, personal security protection, cell phones that never last, on and on. I know I am pretty damn nervous, especially being alone. Hopefully things end up better than they appear to be going.

@NeighborlyHomestead

My guess is it was off just for the video. When the coolant is on in a machine like that you can't see anything.
@marcellemay7721
@marcellemay7721 7 ай бұрын
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the coolant was off to show the machine cutting for the video. Otherwise, the only thing we would see is a torrent spray of coolant. The cutter inserts were probably trash after this video. It's not a good thing when sparks are flying in a machining operation.
@EastonmadeWoodSplitters
@EastonmadeWoodSplitters 7 ай бұрын
We dont run any coolant on the cutter at all. With this type of cutter the coolant actually shortens the tool life. We are going to try a couple of different cutters now that we have the extra power to run them
@marcellemay7721
@marcellemay7721 7 ай бұрын
@EastonmadeWoodSplitters With the right cutters, you could run coolant and significantly increase cutter life. Heat is the enemy of cutter life.
@lonewolfpa

thermal shock (hot and cold cycle) will destroy inserts faster, the heat should come out in the chips. AR is just a nasty material to machine.

A couple questions...Why no cooling/lubrication? I am not a machinist and know nothing about machining. I do know heat is bad and sparks tell me lots of heat. Wouldn't cooling extend your cutter life? Someone please educate me a bit.

@oakiewoodsman 7 ай бұрын
I had ZERO clue that is how you would make a wedge. That is an incredible amount of material being removed. That is super cool! Interesting how the part was mounted in the fixture at an angle and the mill could run in just a flat plan parallel with the table. Are those ceramic cutters? Also why no coolant? (I see below that you don’t run coolant due to shortening cutter life) Super interesting! Easy to watch that process for me!

While interest rates are taking a rest at the moment Governments continue to spend way beyond their means. USA bond sales are sluggish. If the government bonds have to be bought by a country's central bank, then you have pure inflation; money created out of thin air to fund the government. More paper money chasing the same amount of goods. I think inflation is far from over because government spending is not being addressed in any meaningful way.
