I go out and collect all the scraps off the box wedge on the 12-22. That stuff makes awesome kindling and no extra effort involved. It’s already there. Just gotta pick it up haha

I've noticed practically everyone cuts their kindling all the same length, I've found that the odd length pieces left from cutting stovewood make great kindling. Several lengths means more ends of it spread all along the firebox, heats up my flu faster for better draw, (Indoor woodstove)doesnt smoke the house up, and generally use less kindling. No stacking it, chunck it in like pick up sticks and light!!! Just a little observation seems to work for me.... Have a great day!!!

I save my plastic cat food bags. When I am cleaning I put the splitter scraps in them. When I need it I just go get a bag. I don’t sell wood so just for myself.

For kindling this is definitely a nice machine. I know of some European companies that make some nice kindling machines. High output. On a side note. Do you think adding a small wing to the conveyor on the outside is feasible? Seems like it could help out when sliding the wood onto the conveyor so that it can't miss the conveyor. Great video.

As someone that is seriously considering stating a firewood business I’m really thinking I will go with the Eastonmade splitter. Probably start off with the ultra and see if that will do wha I need it too and if not go to the 12-22. I’m just trying to figure out if it will be profitable to do so because so many people sell wood and so many burn wood I just need to find what the other don’t do and do that. Plus secure the money to get a dump trailer to deliver because I don’t think many guys that sell wood deliver it but I could be wrong. I have a buddy that did it for years so I’ll have to pick his brain on what he did to make a profit however small or big it was. Who knows if things work out I may make out to be the full time and get nice wood lot to work from with a killer cord king processor. (I know pipe dreams at best) lol

I use pine 2X4 scraps that would come between steel plates that would come in to the company that I work at before covd-19 hit . The lady that would cheek in the plates would change out the 2x4 to 4x4 hardwood 4 ft long .I would take in bannana boxes and sit on the dock and she would stack them in and anyone that would want one just came by and picked one or two boxes .Ill take home 5 or 6 boxes over time mostly when the would pile up on the dock .Just stack up in the shop and on a rainy day would cut them down to 10inch have an old dove tailed shipping box that looks great in the family room and that is what I keep my kindling in.Will use my 27 ton splitter to split the 2x4 in about 6 pce. and stack back in the box that i put on its side .Them when the kindling box needs filling takes one trip and its done. Use the saw dust from the trimmings and some old candles mix and put paper egg cartons all ways a one match fire .

Hello from Greece One question Do you think making a integrated base with kind of knifes could split directly all the log round with just one movement?

Another great video. You need to make up a live deck for yourself and potentially for customers. If you're working solo it'll be so much easier if you can just step on a pedal and the next row of blocks comes forward at waste level. Have you considered using a Mingo Marker? I just saw them on a video recently and I can't imagine anything easier for marking out consistent sized lengths.
@EastonmadeWoodSplitters
@EastonmadeWoodSplitters 4 жыл бұрын
A live deck would be handy for sure. I have a good friend of mine that uses a mingo marker and loves it. Thaks for the feedback. It's great to hear from you.

That Axis vertical splitter is a really good way to make your kindling in a hurry and in large volumes. I think the only more efficient way to make kindling would be to bag the off cut pieces that come off the sides of a box wedge splitter.

Andrew! I'm sure you could make popsicle sticks with that AXIS! Lol ! That machine is so precise, we use a small horizontal splitter to make our kingling not near as handy and no where near the speed of this AXIS! And our precision is guided by hope! Awesome video 👍

G'day Andrew, that's pretty much how I split kindling I am concerned about the over use of the control valve I've often imagined a larger version of a garlic crusher . I use seasoned Cypress Macrocarpa mill off cuts it's easy to split and throws out a lot of heat for a short period perfect for igniting the heavy dense Eucalypts.
@EastonmadeWoodSplitters
@EastonmadeWoodSplitters 4 жыл бұрын
This way works well for us as well. I have tried wedges with lots of knives on them but find it crushed the wood more often than it splits it. Thanks for taking the time to leave some feedback. It's very much appreciated!

@ishure8849 4 жыл бұрын
You're welcome I'm sure the multi knife would work in seasoned cypress but it's not economically viable .

This AXIS vertical machine really does a great job for this type of work . I could see owning both this type of splitter and one of you horizontal beasts you would have the best of both worlds . I like the bagging idea as well the less work it takes to put the wood up the more time you have for the other things in life GREAT VIDEO !!!!!!!

Just a dumb question,,, ya got a full shop, and everything a man could want to build anything,, so why not a box wedge for kindling, I mean with what your chopping up a 2x2 or even a 1 /12 x 1 1/2 hafl box shouldnt be a problem for the beasties you go there would be a lot safe me thinkest
@EastonmadeWoodSplitters

You're not wrong at all. It would be tricky to get to it this smaller with a box wedge though. You gotta think each wing is 3/4" wide.
