Trash or Treasure?
Let me know what you guys do with those big ugly rounds and how you manage them.
The Axis works really well for this stuff because of how precise it splits, but there's only so much you can do with that really knotty stuff. However if you can make good quality firewood out of the stuff nobody wants, then it all goes to the bottom line!!!
Thanks for taking the time to watch the video guys. We really appreciate the feedback and support. It means the world to us. Hope everyone stays safe and healthy.
If you haven't done so already hit that subscribe button and we'll keep you up to date with whats going on around here at Eastonmade.
Give us a call for more information!!!

I really like that vertical splitter . You can split wood to sell in bundles , back yard camp fires and nice pieces for a restaurant . Make some nice splits for a outdoor boiler and stove as well . With out going back and resplitting you can do it all right there . You don't have to man handle the large splits like you do with a normal splitter . Don't forget the large working table . I like it . Looks like you really know how to handle that splitter .

Pouring the floor in my shop soon for arrival of a 1050 gallon storage 97% efficient indoor wood boiler here in upstate NY. Cant wait to make the drive up to see you guys and pick up a unit. Then the firewood process will be complete. got the log table all built this year. load it with the excavator park the splitter at the end of the table and roll the rounds onto the splitter table. never have to pick up any wood till it goes in the fire box. its my dream set up, the only thing missing is a big orange piece of steel that says eastonmade on the side of it. Every machine seams to run flawlessly. One thing I have often wondered is about to the conveyors is would the firewood screen at the end. Would it work better closer to the beginning with a slide into a bin instead of getting mixed together when you have a big pile. Just a thought I had and wondering what anyone else would think about it.

25 degrees? Where's the snow?? In all seriousness, this is why I really like Eastonmade, you always show your machines taking ugly wood and turning it into pretty nice looking firewood. I was just about to type a comment saying that omfg you were doing that the hard way. Split the whole block into 3-4" width and then rotate it 90 degrees and go the other way. Literally as I was about to start typing you changed to doing it that way. You're going to have to start paying attention to what's going on the ground or your whole wood yard is going to be covered in sawdust and/or chips and you'll have to keep scraping off the surface all the time. Personally I just have a bit of a fire a few times a year and scrape up all the sawdust and chips into that. I'm only doing bout 10-12m3 a year though for personal use.

The secret is in the two way and how the wood is oriented. I saw you scab off the knot as best you could, then usually it can be twisted 90 degrees and she'll split really clean through the knot. A person gets good at reading the wood after a while, but a 4 way or more would just make junk out of the gnarly pieces. When they are super gnarly with double contrasting knots or knots that go almost all the way across, then it's time to get the chainsaw fired up again and cut some perfect pieces of firewood from stuff that won't split good in any direction. Can that machine handle two foot long though? Most of my gnarly ones are cut at two feet.

G'day Andrew, we have a similar unit manufactured in my state but our OHSafety rules are so strict the operator must have both hands on the separate control levers or it won't work. Eastonmade Wood Splitters. I’m only 14 and 7800 is a little more than I want to spend at the moment. That’s a lot of wood to pay that off. But I know how to weld so I’ll try to make a box wedge. Thanks.

So....I'm gonna take a stab in the dark here...."pizza wood" references in most of your videos. I'm assuming these are gimmick pizza chains using real wood that heat ovens to make pizza...that they claim it tastes better than any other way etc? I'm also gonna guess it's a geographical thing and not in a lot of places yet....like my neck of the woods. But I do always see a market for firewood kindling so if the 'pizza wood' fade dies, you can always make that.

I guess we could of renamed it cooking wood also. I think you would be surprised at how many restaurants and bakeries utilize wood fired ovens. Thanks for the feedback. Really appreciate you taking the time out of your day.

You seem to make a habit of putting your thumbs on top of the piece of wood. You should be making it a habit of NOT putting your thumbs on top. It may seem awkward at first but it will be far easier than trying to do it without a thumb, or two.

@@EastonmadeWoodSplitters We don't do much firewood anymore but when I was younger we split all winter long. Just a regular old splitter behind a tractor. My Dad noticed I kept putting my thumb on the end of the log. So for a month he made me tape my thumb to my hand, after I had put my gloves on. I stopped putting my thumb on the end of the log.
