I bring to you this simple soap-making tutorial. This soap uses only 3 ingredients -
1. Sodium hydroxide/lye
2. Distilled water
3. Olive Oil (I used Olive Oil pomace)
In addition to the three ingredients mentioned above, make sure you have heat-resistant containers and mold to mix everything in. Silicone spatula and molds are preferred.
Make sure you wear safety gear during the whole process of soapmaking. It includes but is not limited to Safety glasses and Gloves.

I made Aleppo type soap and Castile soap as well but I prefer the Aleppo type. They both have to cure for a year but I noticed mine even after a year ( Castile one) is still slimy and I don’t like it. Good seller though specially for babies. I use ice cubes to avoid fumes and poure the butter agains the spatula to decrease bubbles

Thanks for sharing this! I always cure my olive oil soaps for a year also. I mostly make 100% OO soap when I make Breastmilk Soaps. Gentle for babies! I never tried Aleppo soap yet. I will check it out! Thanks!

I only have to wait 4 to 5 weeks for mines. Who is waiting a yr on soap😮. If you use a different oil you don't have to wait that long and if you take away some lye and add citric acid it hardens much faster.

@CraftwithGeeta
@CraftwithGeeta 8 ай бұрын
Hi! I never tried Aloe vera juice, but yes, you can substitute it for water. Make sure you freeze it to mix lye, so it keeps its benefits and does not just burn. Try a small batch first. I hope it helps.

No, Olive oil pomace will actually say "pomace" on the can or bottle. I personally have not seen pomace in regular grocery store. I buy it in bulk from webstaurant.com

@CraftwithGeeta
@CraftwithGeeta 7 ай бұрын
Color of the soap depends on the type of Olive oil used. Either way, it will be fine if you used recipe accurately. Leave it to cure and dry place for about 6 months and then try again. Castile soap gets better with time. Longer it cures, better it gets.

Hi! A true soap stays good for years. Castile soap is good to use as long as you don't see any spots of rancid oils or anything weird growing on it (which mostly likely will never happen if you used a soap calculator to calculate all ingredients & followed all the steps). A lot depends on what oils you use. Castile soap is very gentle on skin, but I would suggest curing it for a year. Yes, you can use it as a face wash if your skin handles it well. Try it once & see how you feel. No, you don't need a preservative in your soap. Disclaimer- Soap should be made properly. If you won't follow directions properly (e.g., mixing wrong proportions of ingredients) & make a soap that is lye heavy or separated, it can burn your skin. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. I hope I did not scare you with lye heavy scenario but hey, it happens. Just don't use a soap that does not look or made right. Thanks!

@CraftwithGeeta 11 ай бұрын
Hi ! 1 year is the preferred time by most soapmakers, but you can use it after 8 weeks. Castile soap is generally very slimy when you use it too soon. That's why everyone waits long time for it to cure but you can always try your soap bar at different times and see how you like it. I hope it helps.
