HELLO WHAT TYPE OR BRAND OF SCENTED OILS SHOULD BE USED TO PUT IM SOAPS?
@CraftwithGeeta8 күн бұрын
I buy my fragrances from vendors that specialize in soap making supplies. You can find some on Amazon as well. Just make sure they are safe to use for soap making.

We should use hot water or cold water to make soap
@CraftwithGeeta22 күн бұрын
When you mix lye and water, it is an exothermic reaction (releases heat), so cold water is good.

नमस्ते, can I use peanut oil instead of olive oil with this same recipe? Please reply❤

Namaste! No, you can't replace OO with peanut oil. You will need to add your oils in soap calculator to get exact amounts of everything, especially lye.

@@CraftwithGeetathey’re asking if this recipe can also be used for a liquid soap, I assume not lol
@CraftwithGeetaАй бұрын
Yes, it can be a liquid soap, but lye used will be potassium hydroxide instead of sodium hydroxide that I used here. Also, the process is very different to make liquid soap. Thanks for clarifying the question! 🙂

@CraftwithGeeta2 ай бұрын
Please cure for atleast 6 months! I know it's longer than usual soaps. If you're interested in a shorter cure time soap, you can use this recipe- kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jrV7gNuVypfVoH0.htmlsi=HvN_XeYMPocVdxva

Why isnt your soap green like other soaps i seen
@CraftwithGeeta2 ай бұрын
It could be affected by the type of Olive oil used. I use Olive oil pomace. If someone uses extra virgin OO, it could be a different color.

BTW I just checked and didn't find any green castille soap.

Is olive oil pomace the same olive oil one can buy at Walmart or BJ’s?
@CraftwithGeeta2 ай бұрын
No, Olive oil pomace will actually say "pomace" on the can or bottle. I personally have not seen pomace in regular grocery store. I buy it in bulk from webstaurant.com

@CraftwithGeeta3 ай бұрын
Cocoa powder- yes. You can use 1tsp per pound of oils. Neem oil- No, not in this. You will need to make a new recipe to use neem oil in soap. This ensures that you're using right amount of lye and other ingredients.

How do you do the lye water dealing with fumes
@CraftwithGeeta2 ай бұрын
You can wear a face shield to avoid it. I personally mix it outside for ventilation and do not lean over the container to avoid fumes. Also, if you mix it outside, stand in the direction where wolind isn't blowing towards you. That way, fumes won't move towards you. I hope I have answered your question.

Hello I have a question what if my soap bar says 2lbs how much oil would I use for 2lbs?
@CraftwithGeeta3 ай бұрын
Do you mean if you are using 2lbs of oils to make soap? If so, do the calculation using 32oz (2lb = 32oz), instead of 16oz as in video.

Wow! Finally a soap tutorial where you’re making the soap instead of just assembling soap base and colors. We made soap in chemistry lab once and the prof wouldn’t let us take it home because “I don’t believe any of you will wait for it to cure and you’re going to burn yourselves”
@CraftwithGeeta3 ай бұрын
Awesome! Yes I make Cold process soaps. I always feel like I am working in a chemistry lab. For the cure time wait, I don't think it burns the skin once it is solid. It will just not feel as good on skin if you use it right away. But definitely need to wait at least 24-48 hours based on the soap recipe. Thanks for sharing your experience! Very interesting 😀
