Adaline’s Bread Recipe:
INGREDIANTS:
-1 Cup Warm Water
-3 TBL Instant Yeast
-2 TBL Sugar
-2 Cups Boiling Water
-2/3 Cup Avocado Oil
-1/3 Cup Sugar
-4 tsp Salt
-2 1/2 Cups Cold Water
-6 Cups Flour
-6 1/2 to 7 Cups Flour
INSTRUCTIONS:
Combine 1 Cup warm water, 3TBL Yeast & 2 TBL Sugar, stir until dissolved and set aside to get bubbly while you do the step. In a separate bowl mix 2 Cups boiling water with 2/3 Cup Avocado oil, 1/3 Cup Sugar & 4 tsp salt till dissolved. Next add the 2 1/2 Cups cold water in with the oil mixture to cool it down. Pour oil mixture in with yeast mixture and add 6 cups of flour. once combined well cover and allow to rise for 30mins. After 30mins punch down dough and add the remaining flour. (I start by adding 6 1/2 cups and if its a bit too sticky I’ll add another 1/4 to 1/2 cup) Once remaining flour is combined, cover and allow to rise to double. Punch down and shape into 4 loaves. Use a drizzle of oil on countertop and finger tips to help dough if it’s sticking. Place into greased loaf pans. Allow to rise in loaf pans to a little less than double. Bake at 350F for 40mins. Dump out of loaf pans as soon as pulled out of the oven and butter tops of loaves while still hot. DO NOT SLICE BREAD TILL COMPLETELY COOLED! (Bread is still baking inside to loaf as it cools on the counter) Enjoy!!
Baked Oatmeal Recipe (with canned fruit option):

Grape Jelly Recipe:
INGREDIANTS:

I am 63 & been canning for many decades. Any metal lid that has a rubber ring inside & looks good, I reuse. Yes, I know it’s controversial. But we are all still alive. And I’m not about to spend all that money on new, when I’ve already pd for the jars & lids once. It seems like I would be defeating the purpose of conserving if I were to buy new every time. Thanks Adaline!

I made your bread recipe today to see if everyone would like it. I have been looking for a sandwich bread recipe that didn't need a Pullman pan to bake in. That was dense enough to hold together and soft enough to be called bread😂. This recipe comes together so fast and the bread is PHENOMENAL 🎉🎉🎉🎉. Thank you for the recipe. My husband asked me not to lose the recipe which he doesn't do often. The only thing I did different was add 2 cups of potato flakes since we love potato bread. It turned out beautifully. I baked 2 for 45 minutes and the other 2 for 1 hour. They were the bigger loaves of bread.

Here in Spain we not only reuse jars and lids from the grocery, the ones that you buy specifically to canning use the same system, so you can interchange one for another. We don use lids and rings, the lid is a solid piece. Also we have never seen a pressure canning around here, just bath water canning since my grandgrandmother

Pressure canners are a bit difficult to get your hands on in Europe. I found one in three different sizes on Amazon. But only a single company that offered it. We use actual lids like you do or we use rubber bands and glass lids. That's what my grandparents used for their garden produce.

I, too, am from Central PA. I'm an hour west of Harrisburg. Your videos are so rewarding. My children are all married now. I have 10 grandchildren. Your comments about canning are spot on with the way I was taught. I did not come from a Mennonite or Amish background. It was just a way of life growing up. It is so rewarding to eat what you have harvested. Many blessings to you and your family.

Great information! Common sense is not quite as common anymore, sadly. One way I found to test my lids is once cooled for 12 hours or more, I clean the outside of the jars and hold by the lid to test. Of course, with the other hand below, just in case. If one does not seal, I put into the refrigerator to use within a few days and up to one week. No wasting the product or my time.

I have an addiction for cookbooks....😮 I'd be embarrassed to even tell you how many I have. I dont know how many attempt this, but I often try a new recipe at a family or church function, because the 2 of us can't eat it all. I love to cook! Your such a caring & practical mamma - passing on to the next generation what you have been taught. Thanks for sharing!

I love cook books. I have several of my MIL's old Mennonite cookbooks while I value. I work as a Nurse for a PA agency. We hold our yearly Nurses conference in Harrisburg at a hotel. It is a nice central location for everyone to travel. Also there are many hotels to rent a conference room. I have also seen several DD's that have meeting rooms too. I do enjoy Megan Fox's channel as well.

Just bought some at the store and it was so expensive. Can you show us how you make your own grape juice to drink? I did cranberry last year up and it was delicious. Not sure if it’s done the same way. I have been reusing my lids. Like you I inspect them before use. One last question, Do you have a good Gluten Free bread recipe?

What size glass jar are your oats in?!

I’m not sure if I missed it or if it wasn’t mentioned, but when canning you should ALWAYS remove the rings from your jars after 24 hours. If you don’t you can get what is called a false seal. This is where the pressure of the rings holds down the lid even though the seal has been broken. When you remove the rings if the seal became bad you’d know immediately as the seal would be broken when you next looked at the jar. It’s a way that you’ll always know if your food has been sealed properly. For the same reason you should NEVER put jars on top of jars as this can create a false seal. You can put carb board between your jars and that is ok because the jar won’t be sitting directly on the lid. Hope this helps everyone. If I didn’t explain this well please look into it yourself about why you should always remove your rings before storing your jars. Have fun canning!

I NEVER re-use canning lids! Even if it’s just a one in a million chance for contamination that’s too much! The illnesses that it could cause are deadly. And I only use jars that are meant for canning!

Everyone is different. The thing I’ve noticed is there’s been so much fear put into people about canning, and the more I can and the longer I can the more I see how exaggerated these rules are to scare the living daylights out of people. COMMON SENSE is key to canning but then again I guess common sense is actually pretty much the rule to life

Always enjoy your content, I had to laugh a little when you were talking about the canning jar rings…I do remove them, check the seal, then put them back on…but I like to dress them up with a fabric square. I just love the look of the prints in my canning storage and it makes them very pretty to gift to friends and family. Thank you so much for sharing your home organization ideas, it has helped me greatly in my home!

Common sense doesn’t seem to be so common anymore. 😏 My mum always reused her Vacola lids again as long as it was in good condition. There is a lot of wastage in today’s society - so it’s great to see you using yours. ☺️
