Order your DIY wedding flowers at flowermoxie.com/
I know wedding arches, arbors, and pergolas looks hard af to achieve, but this video breaks it down simply and quickly!
Here's the main rules:
- 11' Zip ties...you need'em!
- Oasis Wet Foam Cage
- Roses, stock, wax flower, or other hardy flowers...no hydrangea they are foam-haters!
- Tons of greens! Buy'em, Forage'em, or Ditch Dive'em!
With wet foam, you can build the day before your wedding, and zip tie it to your arch a few hours before your ceremony!
PRO TIP: After the wedding, cut it down and use it on your sweetheart table! XO ~Amy

Great video! Attempting to do this for a small backyard covid wedding in December but wanted to try a test run! A couple of questions - 1. what size foam cage did you use? 2. What kind of greens did you use? Thanks so much!
@FlowerMoxie
@FlowerMoxie 3 жыл бұрын
I used a large wet foam cage. For greens I used salal and something I foraged. I'd recommend a combo of salal, leather leaf, and any other greens you'd like, even Christmas greens if that goes with your vibe. Check out our packages, as you might find one similar to what you're wanting to do. Feel free to email us if you need anything custom! flowermoxie.com/pages/moodboard-packages

This is amazing! You mention not to use hydrangeas as they are foam-haters, but you also show a lot of centerpieces that use wet foam as well, so how do you prevent the hydrangeas from wilting in those centerpieces? Otherwise, what would be a good alternative flower to use to substitute for the big, fluffy, surface-covering hydrangeas?
@FlowerMoxie
@FlowerMoxie 4 жыл бұрын
Great questions! In centerpieces, there's water surrounding and rehydrating the foam so hydrangeas get more water than when they're just in a cage without the surrounding hydration...does that make sense? I still use hydrangeas in cages, but I can't pop them in until right before the event. Another tip when using hydrangea in foam is to dip the cut stem in Alum, which is a preservative that extends their vase life...it can be found in the spice aisle at the grocery store. There isn't another bloom quite as large as hydrangea, but for volume and coverage, I'd suggest the following: white football mums, carnations, cushion flower (many blooms on one stem), open/blown-out roses, stock, and baby's breath. I hope that helps!

You make it look so easy! I will be having an outdoor wedding in the heat of Texas summer (will most likely be 85-95 degrees) How long before the ceremony do you recommend hanging the arrangement?
@FlowerMoxie
@FlowerMoxie 2 жыл бұрын
Oh dang, I'd probably wait until about 1-2 hours before and make sure you use hardy blooms like roses, carnations, cushion flower. I've used stock in the dead heat of an Oklahoma summer and sprayed the shit out of it with my Crowning Glory and it held! XOXOX
@Flowerfactoryldn

It’s beautiful! How do you ensure it does not drip once you hang it? I’ve tried making a day before but any water in the oasis seems to make its way towards the bottom part.
@FlowerMoxie
@FlowerMoxie Жыл бұрын
It stops dripping once I finish placing my blooms. Personally, I've learned that I prefer to make it on-site. If I'm really stretched for time then I will green it out the day before, re-wet the foam the next day with the hose, hang it, backfill with my flowers and after that, I don't have an issue with water.

@FlowerMoxie
@FlowerMoxie 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Sarosh, 75 isn't too bad, I think you could build it 3-5 hours before and it would be fine. Personally, I'd use hardy blooms like cushion flowers, carnations, roses, and then I'd mist it down with Crowning Glory. Stay away from hydrangea, and I'd probably go easy on stock and snapdragons.

You can green it out 2 days before if you rewet the foam each day, and you can add the blooms the day before. Just rewet the day-of the wedding with a kitchen sink sprayer or garden hose. If you can pop it in a cooler, then that would be best! Just make sure you don't freeze the blooms. XOXOX

Hello Kailee, if you're using silk flowers you can do them tomorrow! You also don't need to wet the brick down, and you can also by dry foam!

My daughter's wedding is in Oct. What burgundy colored flowers would you recommend using?
@FlowerMoxie
@FlowerMoxie 5 жыл бұрын
I would suggest burgundy carnations and burg snapdragons, they have the most predictable shade! You could also go with some Black Magic roses, but those lean more red. If you're using floral foam cages, you can create the arch arrangements 1-2 days before the wedding, just be sure to keep the floral foam damp with water. Keep the cages lying flat (try to find a large rectangular cardboard box for storage/transport, line with a plastic trash bag to keep it sturdy) and then you'll want to zip tie the cages to the arches on the day of the event!

@LauraC0RT

You can buy them together lots of places! I'm not sure how it would work putting the foam into the floral cage - I feel like it works better to just buy them already together. I got mine from Amazon. www.amazon.com/s?k=floral+foam+cage&ref=nb_sb_noss_1

Would it be the same process for a circle arch?
@FlowerMoxie
@FlowerMoxie 3 ай бұрын
Yes! Depending on the look you're going for you'll want to use this same technique to create the circle! Space your floral foam cages or garland equally around the arch and you can build it directly on site. If you're creating the cages ahead of time, be sure to map out how many cages you'll need for the entire structure. You can then zip tie those cages to the arch on the day of the wedding. We like brining some extra blooms or greenery to back fill as necessary!

Amy McCord really, I’m impressed they are such a large bloom. I thought they were white, I’m surprised that they are gray-ish lavender. Do you have more of a “white” bloom of similar size that you carry and would recommend?

@@alyssadaw4232 I really love the way white Escimos blow out. Proud and Vendelas are nice and have a higher petal count than Escimos, but what counts for me is how big they open/blow out.

Is it ok if I don't have a cage? I only have the naked foam blocks
@FlowerMoxie
@FlowerMoxie 2 жыл бұрын
So the foam will break apart on you without a container. You can MacGyver your own cages by wrapping a brick of foam with chickenwire and zip ties, but tbh, I would just stick with the cages. The ridged plastic backing is way more supportive. XXXX, Amy
