@@EternalHarvestDecor So I am finally moving forward w this table, but had a setback. The table has a decorative deep crack going around the top. I filled it in because it’s a crumb collector. It’s also been primed with BIN shellac primer because we needed to make sure there was no bleed through. Our plan changed to solid color paint, but now that I see your video again, I wonder if it can still be done like this. 🤔 Primer is white. I planned to do the piece much brighter because the room it’s in.. everything is light and airy. Sorta has a beachy or garden feel to it, so it would work better. Do you think this look can still be achieved on something primed white? 🤣 This damn table is not going according to plan. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I just really am trying to avoid it being boring. 🙃

New to this whole wood stain/weathered projects. Using it in my new home. Love your technique! Couple questions, What type of wood works best with these stains? Do you sand and use any kind of wood conditioner first? And how long do you leave the stain on before you wipe off? Would love to see an in depth video on how to do this with other stains as well 😊 great channel! Thank you
@EternalHarvestDecor

Amanda Kay thanks for watching! It works great on pine, white wood and Doug fir. I do sand lightly first. Hey! Thank you so much for your help! I've been wanting to make a murphy desk in a inset in one of my walls (it's weird) but I was so pissed when I started because it looked nothing like what you had done but I kept at it and streaked the darker color (I used weathered grey and ebony...because that's all I found at HD) with the light grey and wiped and it actually turned out so perfect so a big, huge thank you! Edit: once I finished everything and got it set up perfect I ended up streaking ever so slightly with a satin white I was using to touch up a wall, i streaked and wiped immediately in thin lines and slightly curved long lines and it made the desk pop so much more. Thanks again for the help and good luck all!

great instruction vid! exactly what i was searching for, thank you. have you tried technique this on newly distressed wood? i have 12 fake rustic beams and 600'+ of tounge n grove, to try to match fake barn wood vinyl cupboards/ flooring to. its very close to your finish but maybe jus the 2 base colors with white, and the beams a shade darker gray than the t&g. my concern is that the distressed dimples will just be the last color applied and dimimish the effect or point of distressing. any advice that would save a step much appreciated.

You could add a little special walnut stain to warm it up if you like.

Love the look of this! I decided to do my dining room table for my first staining project lol. The first color I was going to do was Carbon Grey but then thought it might be too dark so I also got a can of Classic Grey. Would those 2 colors still work for this type of look? Is an accent color necessary? Thanks for you help :)

@EternalHarvestDecor 3 жыл бұрын
I think pretty much any wood color would work with this technique, I would say just be sure to practice and try the colors out first to achieve the look you want. Then put it on the final piece. Love carbon grey, you just need a lighter and darker color and you may want to add some brown tones if you want it mimic wood. The accent color is not necessarily at all just fun to tie in decor if desired

I'm a painting contractor and an artist. I've been doing more of these kinds of projects for clients, and for my own home. I like your technique. I would probably use some fine steel wool to soften the brush strokes. As much as I've done this over the years, even at my age (no tell), I always learn something new when I watch these videos. Thanks!

Superb method. What kind of a durable final finish would you put over this faux for kitchen cabinets?
@EternalHarvestDecor
@EternalHarvestDecor 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks 😊 for cabinets you wouldn’t need something more intense. I would use a two part lawyer finish pre mixed and sprayed. But for a table or decor I deft clear coat amzn.to/3iWUgnq

Can you apply black stain after first stain is dry?

Thank you for this video. It is very helpful. I have never added water to paint before, what is your paint to water ratio? Does the type of paint used matter? By doing this method, am I correct to assume you do not need a polyurethane coat?
@EternalHarvestDecor
@EternalHarvestDecor 4 жыл бұрын
Hi there thanks for watching, I would still use a poly finish but I would go water base so polycrylic for the top coat. For the paint it’s just a latex and for this use I water it down pretty good to a cream consistency so it can be blended. Just use a small amount in a cup and practice on a sample piece until you get the loom you want 😉 thanks for watching!

Your work is absolutely amazing!!! 🤩🤩🤩 Simple and to the point 👍🏻 I have a question tho... would I be able to achieve this look on an old dining table and not on new wood? After stripping it and sanding it down?

SillyRichard oh no! Did you shake the stain well, sometimes mine is more watery when the stain settles at the bottom. What material is it on too? I’m happy to help if you DM me on Instagram and send a pic 😅
