Use this setting to stop the Canon R50 screen turning off every time you put something close to the viewfinder

* Press the Menu button
* Select the Wrench
* Go to page 3
* Select item 1 Screen/viewfinder display
* Change this to Screen
* Press Set OK
* Press the Menu button
Now your screen will stay on all the time

Thanks for watching. The second hand market often has bargains (I love a bargain) and the M50 is worth a look. This is still a great camera. Pair this with a ef to m adapter and purchase some ef lenses and you’ve future protected yourself when you look to upgrade your camera later down the track

Great video, as always! I bought the Canon R5 last April, and recently, when I'm filming in 4K (like I used to do with 5D MK IV), the LCD screen is turned black, on off all the time and the camera is not functioning but continued to record, I don't know if it's because it's an old SD card (V30)? Because I'm using Eco mode? I just updated the firmware 1.9. I'm not sure if it's going to fix this... I would appreciate it if you could help me.

Thanks for your question - I really appreciate it and it's fun making these videos . I'd say your ECO mode is the culprit turning off the screen to save power. Cheers CRE8r61 👌

Thanks for watching - I don’t think there’s a setting for that. When you plug in your monitor you don’t get the touch screen functionality. I see benefit in both working. It could drain the battery quickly.

Mine is not when I go close to the screen after just turning it on it goes the exposure gets lower than it goes to sleep

Maybe you’re in eco/power saving mode on your R50? In Movie mode - Press the Menu Button and go to the wrench tab (Yellow Menu) > select Item 2 and go to Power Saving. I have turned all these off. Hope this helps and thanks for watching

Using this method you can turn the screen to the camera body and use the EVF. This will save battery power and there are extensive power saving settings under the Yellow Wrench Menu > Page 2 > Power Saving • *Screen Dimmer* from 10 sec to 30 sec • *Screen Off* from 1min to 30 min • *Auto Power* Off from 15 sec to 30min • *Viewfinder* Off from 1min to 3min _** These settings can also be disabled_

If you’re in shutter priority, program ae, or movie modes (TV, P MODE on the dial) aperture is unavailable

AF/MF button on the RHS of the camera toggles between Auto and Manual focus. Thanks for watching as I appreciate it

@@cre8r61 Aha!!! First time I used mine the camera wouldn't focus & then I discovered it was in MF. I assumed it was the factory default setting but maybe I accidently pressed that button. I went into the menu to change it back to AF. I only bought it the day before & hadn't worked out what everything was for yet. Thanks!!!
