Brilliant effort Jim for your first time attempting this style of fire. A few pointers for you from watching the video 1. With the woodsman hammered into the tree, tilt the cutting edge at an appropriate 30 degree angle and only pull the kindling from the underside of the blade. 2. Lay your shavings on a piece of bark inside the frame and place the cockerel feathers above the frame First. Light the feathers first and let the flames pick up until they start to light the cockerel feathers then build you kindling around the frame. For your first attempt I thought you did fantastic. A big well done bud. I am glad you got something from the video to add to your woods armoury. 👍👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🔪🥃

What I like the most of Alex videos is that he uses his hands. He will not use his knife to cut small twigs, he will break them with his hands; with the 45* cut, he finishes the cut by whacking the log. It’s less sexy but quite effective. Knowing when to use the tool old father Adam left us is not as a common knowledge as it should be.

Great advice about trying something new. Loving the sharing of knowledge and experiences with Origin knives. It seems there's always a different way to achieve the same goal. A new tool for the toolbox - or perhaps Kevin's designs are the ultimate multi tools?! Take care. 👍

Another great video lad! You and Alex, always provide such fantastic content. However, I have to say, that this fire lay is not very good IMHO. Here in the north we use a far superior fire lay. It's called the, "Siberian Log Fire" For camp or survival, it is unmatched. If you don't know it, check it out! Perhaps a challenge to you ; try a "Siberian Log Fire". You won't look back. Cheers, Rob
