Hi Jim - I received my Woodsan and Shirley last week and absolutely love it. The shape, weight balance, blade geometry, sheaths are all so well thought out and wonderful to use. Thanks for the videos and inspiration that put me onto Origin knoves in the first place. God bless.

Thanks Bob, I was definitely cautious cutting down the Bamboo tree. It was at least 30ft tall and I wasn't quite sure how it was going to react. Worked out fine but it's tough stuff!
@richevy52243 ай бұрын
Really cool. You have unbelievable knife skills. Did you have to touch up your blade after working with the bamboo? It is pretty hard, gnarly stuff to work with.
@bushcraftcostarica8083 ай бұрын
Thanks! I went into this project with just a working edge, not quite shaving and it seems to still be the same. The bamboo is pretty tough stuff though, splitting is no big deal but chopping thru is a pain.

After my Leatherman broke twice, I switched to Victorinox. I know everyone praises Leatherman's warranty but that's probably not a good thing! You don't hear much about Victorinox' warranty because their tools don't break. I have a Spirit MX Clip and SwissTool MX Clip. Love them both

Ive never understood how the quarter round could bbe used as a gut hook. The quarter round would split the hide and then the sharp cutting edge behind it would then cut into the animals entrails making it counter productive. I think it is great for nice feathersticking.

Brilliant effort Jim for your first time attempting this style of fire. A few pointers for you from watching the video 1. With the woodsman hammered into the tree, tilt the cutting edge at an appropriate 30 degree angle and only pull the kindling from the underside of the blade. 2. Lay your shavings on a piece of bark inside the frame and place the cockerel feathers above the frame First. Light the feathers first and let the flames pick up until they start to light the cockerel feathers then build you kindling around the frame. For your first attempt I thought you did fantastic. A big well done bud. I am glad you got something from the video to add to your woods armoury. 👍👍🏴🔪🥃
