That grip arrow keeper stick definitely a good idea for long bow. I have used the forked rubber arrow keeper, I think made by Saunders, for years on my recurves and compounds. I don't use whisker biscuit or drop away rest on compound, but form my own shelf with Shoe GOO on the compound riser so it is similar to a recurve shelf. I currently shoot longbow, recurve, and compound GAP aiming. Used to shoot instinctive but I found GAP gives me much more consistent accuracy passed 15 yards. I shoot quite a bit, but sometimes will go for several weeks without shooting. This week I picked up my bow, shot six arrows from 10 to 20 yards with GAP and all six shots were in the kill zone. Not sure, without constant (recent) practice if I could have pulled that off. Thanks for all the good info.

Gap is a great way to shoot. And those rubber stick on arrow grippers work great too.

Is there any chance of you showing us how to use the bicycle tube on the arrow grippers? I couldn't quite see what you meant..all of these are fantastic tips Jason thanks for sharing them with us.

All I did was buy a super skinny bike tube and cut 1/4 inch bands from it and stretch them from gripper to gripper.

Another way of holding your arrow on the rest is to make a loop with para cord with a large knot. Loop large enough to go around your bow going over the arrow. It’s quiet and quick to remove.

The rubber grip thing is what Robbert Carter also in Georgia swamps will do, he finds since living in the south his whole life he will either cut and glue a rubber bicycle tube on or use a vinyl tennis tape grip on his bows since the leather he finds gets ruined getting all nasty in the heat, but he wants his grips more fitted to the bow so there is no movement. Now if he has a cheaper grip that is some kind of fake leather on a bow, he will leave that on the bow since they often do not take on the sweat unless it is most types of fake suede leather including the foam rubber suede. I like the Synthetic leather grips as they do not lumpy unlike the leather yet have the feeling similar to leather. I think my GREAT PLAINS TRADITIONAL BOW COMPANY Youth model has a synthetic leather grip due to how it feels like the better synthetic leather style foam that is not in the suede style.

Yep many of us prefer rubber over real leather. Drys instantly too and holds no odor or scum.

@@tradbowpodcast Yes I like Fake vinyl leathers and similar fake leathers for the same reason but also, they feel better then most rubber to me.

Some great tips, I like the one about using the rubber to hold the arrows in the gripper. In 2002 some friends and I were hog hunting. I was using a long bow with a great northern quiver, head border on heads, and one judo we were hunting in Texas. At midday we decided to stump shoot as I shot one of my broadhead arrows worked loose from the quiver fell out nock end down and as I took a step, the Broadhead went in my shin about mid calf and penetrated into my calf muscle. I was lucky and didn’t get hurt to bad.

@@tradbowpodcastI will share a nice little hack that I did this past season. It’s a knock off of the Paul Brunner wind feather. I tie a piece of waxed dental floss on to a green castoration band found at any farm store and fray the end of the floss. Slide this onto your top limb tip and you can check the wind at a glance and doesn’t really get tangled up that bad like when actually tied the floss with a feather directly to my bow string. You can even tie a piece of floss to your quiver if you don’t like it on your limb tip. Also the castoration bands work great for replacement reed holders on Predator calls like the critter call.

Jason, quick question: This morning I went to three different Bicycle Shops here in North Carolina looking for a ‘seamless’ (smooth) bike inner tube - (like the one i see here on your longbow in this awesome “Easy Hacks…” video. Unfortunately, neither of these bicycle specialty shops were even aware of a “seamless bike inner tube”.. What am I missing? .. Should I be looking elsewhere? .. I need to find a “seamless bike inner tube” as soon as possible to protect the Straight Grip of my two-month-old Howard Hill The Legend Stick Longbow.

I just use regular bike tubes. Size 1.75-2.25 . Thry all have a small seam but it flattens out almost instantly

Yes. After 3 wraps I cut off the extra. Or I should say since mine ended up on the second hole after wrapping I cut off the rest so it doesn't flap.

Concerning the piggy backers, another cool idea that I do is cut a piggy backer in half and drilling a hole through each half, then thread onto the wire of the quiver. This is where I stow my judo point as they don't fit well in the quiver hood. It can be seen somewhere in this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/irZ9ZqSL3bHcZJc.html
