Using an over bed table would allow one to use over an area that's already taken by something (my mom's table that her sewing machine sits in is 4'x8' so this table would be perfect for her).

This is a really neat project, easy to adapt to different sizes. I would want wheels that could lock or I would be rolling all around while trying to iron. 😂. Thanks for the tutorial.

Why have I not thought of using elastic on my table before? Love this idea! As always you have THE BEST IDEAS! Thank you! I'm going to go make one of these right now. My current cover is being held down with velcro and is so nasty. This is awesome!

Oh oh oh Tracey, I never thought of a pressing station on wheels! This would totally fix my space issue! PS Love the video! Since Easter just ended, I am headed to my Dollar Tree this week to get those egg boards aka (roundest ironing boards) to make for my Quilting Class room! Yes, I would have been there earlier but the closest Dollar Tree is 45 minutes one way from me. What can I say...I live in the boonies! LoL

Hi Tracy, I bought an ironing board cover today for a table top model for $1.99. I did so for the pattern template & as a quick cover for my scorched one. I kept procrastinating on making one from scratch. It worked fine but your idea allows more fabric choice, thickness, color, density & maybe even fabric that doesn't scorch. Great project & love the wool too but have a big & small ironing board so I stuck with the traditional foam & fabric & drawstring...maybe next time. Thank You! 🤗

I was given an old mini ironing board. You know, ones that sit on your table. I have to put a new cover over it and haven't tackled it yet. Now you have given me the inspiration to get going with this. Love your pressing table. I think I might even get some wool mats and cut them to the size. Was just going to use insul bright but now seeing yours.......
@TheSewingChannel

Awesome Sue!!! I'm not sure if you can cut through these wool mats because they are extremely thick.🤷🏻‍♀️ I ordered 2 of them separately to ensure a good fit✅

@@TheSewingChannel I have a wool mat already and asked hubby if he would be able to cut a couple of wool mats to fit the ironing board shape. He said yes, one way or another. So I'll just buy another mat and when it comes I'll leave it to him. He's very creative and innovative. Here's hoping but I know in my mind it's done already.

I thought I would need a wooden table or a wire mesh table to make a super large pressing station. I'm glad to know that I don't. What I already have will work. I have pressed on top of my bed, when I was pressing a large top. That works; but not as well as I would have like it. Thank you for this information and video. That looks like a very handy pressing station. Will it fold up?

I change my board cover when it gets dirty enough. It usually lasts quite awhile because I use a steady betty on top of the cover.

Another 'great minds' video! Was just looking at my ironing board cover within the past few weeks and last time was 3 days ago. It still has the original cover. Didn't iron much when I was working. Now that I'm making PL blankets, I see that the cover has faded badly from sitting under the window in my bedroom. This project will be on my "Gotta Do" list in the next week or two. The hardest part will be picking out some pretty fabric from my stash. Thanks for your video, Tracy! I sure don't want to have to make a casing for a gathering cord. I like your idea much better!!! 💜

@@TheSewingChannel Yeah! I was chatting with another PL blanketeer re: this quick and easy PL quilt pattern using 2- 5" charm packs. The "quick and easy" part is sewing the quilt top together. The hard part that takes the most amount of time is figuring out where you want all the 5" squares to go! Sewing time: 1 hour Determining where the 5" squares should go: 3 hours. Ironing of the seams: 1 hour Picking out fabric for a new ironing board cover: 2 hours Replacing the old, faded, ironing board cover: 30 mins. LOL!!!! 😉 They're never an "All you gotta do" project, are they?

This is a great video! Do you use steam when pressing on this table? If so, does the steam damage the wool mats and/or penetrate the layers of Insul-Bright and batting?

I have a hospital table that has holes for each height so I could tilt if I needed to but I have it set level on the front and back and it work perfectly I've had it many years and it gets used frequently as well as the usual flannel then batting and wool mats it's the topped of with mattress twill I'd brought in a charity shop (salvation army UK)it's a cream with terracotta Stripes there was twenty yards of it all for the bargain price of £6::00 sterling the lady said she was glad to see it finally go I've covered my two adjustable height six foot long banquet tables with it too the tables are one for cutting out and one houses my three machines two sewing machine s and a serger I can just pull forward which ever machine in need forward they all have covers with pockets for accessories on all in the same material and I've just been offered a second serger free of charge from a friends mum as her eyesight is failing her and my friend hasn't the interest to sew ( she says why should she sew when she has me as a friend ) I'm lucky enough to have what is really a second bedroom (12 foot by fourteen foot wide with a big window ) as a dedicated sewing room so I can shut the door when I've finished sewing for the day and as the saying goes out of sight out of mind
