You save tons of money this way. Don’t go back to the store to it’s time just because you want something different. Snacks can be homemade and if eating healthy you won’t be as hungry

Hi Adaline for a lot of years now I’ve always bought celery in season. I get a large pot of lightly salted water on the stove. I finely chop all the celery then put it into the pot at a quick boil for 5 minutes. No longer. I strain it and cool it quickly in my sink. Usually a colander and cold running water from the tap. I then drain well and fill ziplock sandwich bags half full make then flat and put them straight into the freezer. I was married to a food technologist he called this blanching. Because the celery is not totally cooked it comes back like fresh celery in all my soups stews etc. Hoping that this is helpful to you and your subscribers. Seeing that large bag you had last time made me think to share this. The best thing about this method is that the celery keeps very well without getting freezer burnt I usually do a year’s supply at a time.

I don't normally do once a month grocery shopping. As I'm watching and listening to this video, I started writing down the meals I normally make and we easily eat at least 2 times a month, sometimes 3 (hamburgers because they are easy lol). Doing this told me I could easily write the menu down for a whole month instead of weekly. I usually sit down on Saturday or Sunday and meal plan the meals for the next week. Like you, I have processed many foods away that are on my pantry shelf which makes it easy to plan. I also always have breakfast for supper on Wednesday nights before church because it is easy. I think now, I can easily just write out my meals for the month and be good. Thanks for the video.

We are a family of 8. And my original intention was to shop once every two weeks. But then I seemed to end up doing a lot of fill in shops on my off weeks that cost just as much as my regular shop. And, it drives me nuts. 🤪 I've been interested in once a month grocery shops for a while now and still struggle with the idea of "how to I manage to move to once a month shopping without running out of food in the meantime?" We have a right budget. So over the last couple of weeks I've bought a few staples in bulk: rice (which was half price!) Pasta Flour Tinned tomatoes Onions (which I chopped and froze 20kg worth!) I also just bought twice the meat I usually buy and bought bacon as well which I chopped and froze. Trying to think of other things I can do which won't break the budget and still create healthy, tasty meals. And that eventually I'll end up shopping less. But it's going to take a while.😩

Something we are doing as a family as we are trying to work towards grocery shopping once a month is we are only shopping every 2 weeks currently. Going from weekly to monthly was a big jump for us so after we get the hand of shopping every 2 weeks the goal is to go to monthly.

Sorry, had to giggle when I read your title as "large family"...my family must be ginormous The whole30 recipe for Ranch dressing is so very good. I make it with my home made almond milk (and when I make it, I use less water for a creamier milk) I dont even miss store bought ranch anymore. The other amazing alternative is Primal Palate ranch mix. I get it at Thrive. You can make with sour cream and again, it is amazing

I have loved making my own quick ranch for years now! The first time I started it was a process and very detailed but now I’ve shortened the recipe. It’s just equal parts mayo + plain Greek yogurt, garlic salt, parsley, little bit of dill, salt, lots and lots of pepper, garlic powder, mix it up and thin it out to your liking with water and that’s it!!

As I run out of items that we need or are low on, I pull out my phone and add those items to my Walmart App. I can pick up those items at our grocery store, Sam's Club, Walmart or any other place that I buy groceries from. It's not items that I only get at Walmart.

Honest question. Where to you store al the extras for the month. Do you have 2 fridges? If not how do you organize this? I’ve been thinking of doing this. Do you ever have to run out and get stuff mid month?

We have tried healthy ranches too and ALDI ranch is just the best. My family will not eat other kinds. Have you ever averaged what you spend monthly over a years time? I currently grocery shop every 2 weeks but I do like the idea of monthly but I feel like I need a better stocked pantry before I could do it.

It exhausts me even thinking about shopping once a month. I have stretched to every three months for shopping. Sometimes, we will have something twice within those three months. Sometimes, I get lucky enough to find enough new recipes to try, and I am able to add them to our rotation. Some new recipes were just okay and won’t be added to our rotation. I bet I could go every six months if I canned or owned a freeze dryer. Supplies. It would be nice to try that. Honestly, I didn’t start doing this to save money. I strongly dislike shopping. I bet it does help save money though.

I do a monthly meal plan based on my inventory that I have one hand but had trouble doing monthly shopping because I spent more money on the just in case purchases. I am currently trying to buy very little this month to use up things that we haven’t been using because we have been buying our favorites and passing on the other things. Categories in the notes app is great. I write it in my notebook and I did I spreadsheet when I went once a month.

I would like to have washer/dryer, and I'd also like a dishwasher. People staying in their RV for longer periods of time and more acticities, dont have the time or energy to be doing dishes. To not use disposables or eat takeout too often, a dishwasher can help out alot. One other thing is the side loveseat. I dont like the outlet and USB port on the front of the cabinet, and alnost to the floor. I'd rather see it in the corner, towards the back wall.

I think my biggest struggle is my picky kids. They get it honest cause I was picky at their age but trying to find recipes that are healthy and everyone likes is hard and also we go through a lot of produce so making it sure it lasts a month. I need to rewatch your video on how to make those last.

In Germany we say "hunger is the best cook". 😅 Dont let them snack, just try 3 meals a day + drinks, like water, tea, light juices, NO chocolate milk, drink yoghurts, smoothies! Even fruit is a filler, you can eat a little fruit salad after your meal. It will be much healthier for them und they will develope a normal feeling of hunger.

I love that idea and if I’m home I typically do that. My youngest son is 8 and he gets home before I do with the help of my father in law and unfortunately he doesn’t see things the same way and ultimately lets him do as he pleases when he’s there with him which makes things hard. I do keep more fruit in the house than anything else so I’d rather him snack on that but getting him to broaden his taste buds is another issue.

I’m picky with ranch because I do not like mayo and a lot of them taste like mayo to me. I make my own ranch seasoning mix and just add it to sour cream (which makes a dip) and add in a little milk, usually almond milk, until it’s a little thinner. It doesn’t pour very good or look pretty but it tastes great. I only make enough for one or two days but it might be fine to make a larger batch, I just don’t know.

Great video. Very helpful suggestions. I have implemented a 2 week grocery shop for 2024 with only buying milk in between. Raw milk from a farmer isn’t an option where I live. I meal plan based on what I have. It’s going to be an adjustment but ensures we use up what I bought. Staying out of stores will help with impulse purchases. I keep a running list on my notes app on my phone as well.

Just going to say it. I know your intentions are meant well but bad things are coming fast. If people know what you have an it is relatively easy to find people in this day an time, you are putting yourself in a bigger risk of danger than you realize. We are not even in desperation yet and look at what people are doing. That will be 100x worse if and when something occurs. If desperate people who already have bad intentions know what you have, an they know where you are, they could potentially target you in a famine or war. Please make sure you know Jesus and have self reliant and sufficient means to protect your families an homes. We all need to be prepared but do not tell nor show what you have to people. I pray all of you wake up and be prepared. I do not say this to scare any of you but look at the state of the world right now. Better to be prepared and not need it than to need it and not have it. Stay safe and trust God.
