At 0:42 Select the edge, the press CTRL, then while keeping pressed, right click down, go to "Edge Ring Utilities", then to "Edge Ring and Split"

hey how do you scale the faces independently after extruding them? when i try to do that they all scale in the same direction. I come from MODO where you just have options to scale multiple faces along local face axis

I do ctrl + right click at 1:48 but I do not get any marking menus to select to edge ring on mac. Any ideas? I can to shift + right click to get a marking menu but there is no to edge ring and split option?

It does sir. Just go to your platonic solid on the poly modelling bar and right-click to see the pipe. or just go to create - polygon primitives - pipe. That's on Maya 2018

thanks for your comment. this tut is so easy for new students who understands maya tools and i just used few tools for creating this model. using tools like insert edge loop tool and extrude.
