www.soapcalc.net is a free soap recipe calculator. This quick tutorial will help you get started with your first custom soap recipe. If you would like to learn more, use this link to get detailed information - www.soapcalc.net/info/helptext...
Here is how to use Soapcalc soap calculator:
There are 7 parts to this recipe calculator-
1. Type of lye- NaOH for soap bars & KOH for liquid soapmaking
2. Weight of oils- Pick a unit to be used & enter the total weight of oils you would like to use (basically how big of a soap batch you would like to make)
3. Water- Leave it at default- 38%. Use water discount to get a soap recipe trace faster. Use water discount for recipes you already tried.
4. Superfat- Leave at 5% if this is your first time formulating a cold process soap recipe. Increase to increase the moisturizing property of soap. Be careful how high you go with superfat.
There are always exceptions e.g. this 100% Coconut oil soap recipe with 30% superfat- • Easy soap for beginner...
5. Soap qualities- Leave this the way it is. These values will be computed on next page, based on the oils/fats you will enter.
6. Recipe oil list - Go to the drop down menu & select the oil/fat/wax of your choice to create you recipe. Click on the + sign to add the selected oil/fat to the Recipe oil list. Then add the percentage of each oil picked by you & the total of all oils should come to 100%.
7. Click on "calculate recipe" button & then click on "View or Print Recipe" to see all the calculated values. This will have all the information you need , based on your choice of oils/butters, to make your soap at home.
Use Lye, Water & the amount of oils per the calculated values shown on this page.
*Make sure you wear safety gear during the whole process of soapmaking. It includes but is not limited to Safety glasses and Gloves.*
You will see editable columns on this page. You can enter Recipe name, additives information & also Notes.
I hope this helps & you can now create your own first soap recipe with your choice of ingredients.
