Another great idea is to mix juice 50/50 with sparkling water, tastes great! Makes a healthy soft drink.

Jenny. I love your videos. The recipes are great and easy to follow. And they are healthier versions which are fantastic. I just want to let you know how much I enjoy watching and following your recipes. I have a question on your 50-50 fat reduction. There are so much myths abt butter and margarine. Do you use butter and canola oil combo, or do you use margarine and canola combo please? I have been purchasing margarine for the past 20 + years but folks are now saying butter is actually better. What do you think ?

Thebeefamily Twenty years ago margarine contained partially hydrogenated fats (aka trans fats), which I believe should still be avoided so yes, butter would have been a better choice. But there are new heart-healthy tub margarines today that I consider an acceptable choice. Brands like Benecol and Promise Activ contain phytosterols, which may actually help to lower cholesterol. A lot of stick margarines contain trans fats so tub margarines are a better choice. I still make my butter combo but with extra light olive oil; however, one tub lasts me for months because I rarely use butter. Interesting tips. As for the China Cola, we don't have it in Greece, so maybe I can sub with Diet cola. ?

No. Diet sodas are not a good choice because artificial sweeteners are bad for your health. I suggest choosing any soft drink you like that is sweetened with sugar (never high fructose corn syrup - also bad for your health) and then dilute it with any sparkling water. We must all read labels before eating or drinking anything. Sugar is not ideal but it's a better choice than diet drinks or anything with HFCS.

I know too much sugar is bad but my grandma drank coke all day every day and lived til 88 yrs old and she wasn't fat either.

Sally, see if you like equal parts mayo and silken tofu. I think it works really well in dips. And, the tofu has added nutrients.

Sorry, Jenny, you need to read this... Avoid Processed Fats. The idea that fat substitutes and heat-treated, chemically-processed oils are somehow better for you than good old-fashioned natural butter is a myth. The trans fats contained in purported “heart-healthy” foods like margarine, canola, soybean, and corn oils are actually worse than saturated fats. Not only do they increase LDL cholesterol, they also cause your other organs to malfunction, producing mutated hormones, build-up of toxins, inflammation, weight-gain, and even cancer. Oh my gosh. Completely incorrect regarding fats and oils. Canola oil is extremely unhealthy. I make many of your recipes but not your recommended low fat ingredients. Butter is healthy. Canola, soybean oil should be totally avoided.
