Don't know how I lived without this for so long! I make dog food for 2 of our dogs kzfaq.infoUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg (we have 5!) and it is so much quicker in this. Love having the inner pot stainless so I can use my immersion blender right in it without worrying about scratching. It makes potatoes great and fast! Still working on the vegetables, first time came out great, second time I did different ones and they were a little too mushy. Just need to adjust the time. I highly recommend this pot!!!

After watching What The Health my dad is finally interested in going vegan, something that obviously matters a lot to me because I want to keep him around, but yogurt/dairy is one of his chief vices... THANK YOU MIC!

do10w9 dairy is dairy yes, but all the dairy you guys know is pasteurized, so you're judging only the bad(because pasteurized dairy is poison xD) raw however, is interesting. It's much more digestible as it has lactase, enzymes to digest lactose and can assimilate the minerals much better.... Obv we're not meant to drink it, we're not calfs, but I think it can be used therapeutically if the person really needs it(raw).
@gjkoolen
@gjkoolen 6 жыл бұрын
Gnarly If you drink dairy every day you get increased risk of all kinds of diseases because of the caseïne causing TMAO's causing havoc in your body (e.g. bronchitis, diabetes, initiates cancer, etc) and IGF1 causing obesity and progression of the cancer. See Dr. Greger's videos for instance for more info.
@Bob-np9no

Gertjan Koolen I'm glad all of those studies were made on pasteurized milk:) which, I agree. It's poison!
@gjkoolen
@gjkoolen 6 жыл бұрын
Gnarly Okay, but also raw milk contains those malnutritions that I mentioned. So I advise to stay away from any milk.
@Bob-np9no
@Bob-np9no 6 жыл бұрын
Gertjan Koolen well I guess the Igf1, yes. But raw milk has some evidence towards helping asthma and allergies and the immune system and as a probiotic sooo I'm not sure about the other claims... Raw Milk needs to be studied more but people who can tolerate raw dairy(which is more than the pasteurized, usually say they feel great on it). But yes the IGF1 is a valid point- yet there's a lot of omnivores that have never gotten cancer and other diseases because they kept their diet very clean and unprocessed with very good amounts of antioxidants which comes from plants ofc... Though liver actually has some surprisingly went off topic but yes. I think primarily plant-based is best as long as it's not based around grains, starches are way superior and not inflammatory in any way. (think people who have things like ulceritive colitis, if it's bad they usually can't tolerate things like grains, pasteurized dairy and legumes(not sure if nuts and seeds, but I think)

I invested in a mini food processor, it was fairly cheap, and much easier for stuff like nut or bean spreads, humus, pesto, nicecream, and other blended stuff that needs little liquid. I found that the blender is just too much of a hassle when there is not a lot of liquid. I love my mini food processor now, use it almost daily VROOM VROOOM.

Ha ha, funny and informative. Yes straining the almonds is a good idea. I like using sunflower seeds and miso, sort of a cheese really, but very tasty. Using some shop bought vegan yoghurt to start it off is good too. Also using the tops of chilies, or miso paste or using rejuvelac works as they are natural probiotics. 'd like to see you make some rejuvelac and use it for making cashew cream cheese. Nice tasting section you guys!

Thanks for the info, Mic. I have a suggestion for easier almond skinning: almonds in a pot of cold water, bring to rolling boil and hold for 1 minute. strain almonds, and dunk in cold water. the skins almost blister off by themselves, very little effort to get them off. In terms of getting the skins off, it doesnt matter if you soak before you boil. But it might be a good idea to soak them first, in order to get the phytase active, to lower the phytic acid content down, as almonds contain a fair bit of phytic acid. Snacking on raw almonds is probably not an issue, unless you really pig out, but in a product like yogurt or almond milk, you might be consuming a lot of almonds, so maybe its worth soaking them. Would boiling before soaking destroy the phytase (the enzyme that breaks down phytic acid?) Im leaning towards: 1) soak 2) boil & crash cool 3) skin 4) blend

With some thought given to the almond recipe, there is probably an easy way to get rid of some of the mealiness. Perhaps removing some of the blended mix and straining the liquid back in with a nutmilk bag would work? Any yogurt masters have the answer?! Maybe they need to be soaked even longer?
@AndrewVelez
@AndrewVelez 6 жыл бұрын
I think its the price you pay to use a less saturated nut. i don't have a scientific bases for this statement but i feel like the more saturated fat yogurts tend to be more like the real thing.

I'm a late night junkie (no not on drugs just plants haha) but haha my dumb butt would have combined both the yogurts for a complex texture and flavor. My synesthete self would be seeing fireworks with that kind of dynamic duo. Haven't made yogurt, yet, but I'm haha poor and living in a food desert. The blueberries in the back yard seem promising. SO MUCH RAIN HERE and lightning lately. I'm expecting them to be more on the acidic side...trying to balance their PH with a selenium vitamin. We'll see. I'm weird I like to keep my water content between a 7PH-8PH depending on where it's from.

Mic. the Vegan -I’ve seen this done by making regular almond milk. But they did have to strain the water from the yogurt, for a thick consistency. But you are left with a very small amount of almond yogurt. It’s really good and smooth, but it’s almost not worth it to me and it seems wasteful. There is a video (not to be mean, but it’s that annoying couple, “how to make almond milk yogurt”). People do use thickeners like agar but I prefer not to that, so I stick with soy milk yogurt. Culture for health may have some ideas too, but I think they may suggest something like agar too. ✌🏼

you can also make your own yogurt starter - rejuvelac :D I started playing around with probiotics, and for the last few weeks I've been making soy yogurt with rejuvelac that is pretty tasty - I eat it with granola and jam :D Rejuvelac takes a few days to make, but you can store it in your fridge after it's done, and use it as you please - I make it with organic wheat grains, you have to soak it in water until it starts to sprout, after that you rinse it and soak again in water untill it starts to bubble - that water is now rejuvelac, you can take that water and make more rejuvelac from the same grains a few more times and then discard the grains. :))

I ferment vegan yogurt by placing containers of non dairy milk and starter in an ice chest with hot tap water in it. Very easy and it works great!

Add a few dates when making the yogurt to sweeten. The bacteria from the probiotics feed on the sugar in the fruit and makes it even better. Another idea buy a INSTANT POT. IT has an amazing yogurt setting and will culture your yogurt at the correct temp all night :) Great Video and love your humor.
