I have watched a lot of video tutorials on doing parallel turns and this is the most helpful one that I watched, especially with the diagram that shows the weight distribution. You deserve a ton of subscribers. Thanks!

I cannot thank you enough for these videos! Having the perspective of a beginner, who is acutely aware of all the tiny micro steps involved in achieving even relatively basic things like scissoring the feet, is incredibly helpful. Keep up the great videos! Hopefully soon I'll be able to figure out the one foot glide enough to use my brake ...

It means a lot that this series is helping my fellow beginners 🤗 hey let me know how it goes! The one foot glide is so hard to achieve but once you got it, you'll feel unstoppable! Maybe I'll do an in depth vid on the one foot glide 💪🏼

Thank you. This was excellent. You need to know how to scissor to execute so many other moves correctly. For example, you need to scissor in order to look behind you when you skate backwards.

when cruising down hill or in the middle of the night its a life saver scissoring as well. if your front foot gets stuck on a stick or pebble or gap in the road you can pickup your back foot and step it over the obstacle. its like an automatic failsafe. i mean if your front foot gets stuck because of the momentum, your backfoot will automatically be propellend forward and saves the day.

The editing is very good. I think this is one of the more entertaining scissoring tutorial. The voice is clear and concise. I could tell you put a lot of time and effort to create this. I like how you also display a photo of the human muscles to provide more visual. That community you skated in...the drive way and streets looks pretty smooth. The street outside my house looks like a crime scene from CSI. Excellent video. I actually watch the whole video without skipping. Happy Rollerblading!

Thanks for doing these. I'm also beginning to inline skate and am still working on improving my balance, stopping, scissoring, and turning. Trying the parallel turn is really hard for me and it feels like I'm just doing an A-frame turn while in scissor position with minimal edging and leaning. What does it feel like for you?
@shannon.skates

Hi😃 Feels like I'm on a rollercoaster when parallel turning. It's such a rush...feeling my skates "sweep" me into a turn.🤩 BUT going from an A-frame turn to parallel turning felt impossible for me at first-my legs kept wanting to get into an "A" bc that felt stable. The parallel turn is more balance-focused⚖️, so your legs, feet, AND ankles will be more tense, as opposed to just bearing down when A-frame turning. ⭐If you feel like you're just doing an A-frame turn while in scissor position with minimal edging/leaning when trying to parallel turn, try to: 1) SQUEEZE your adductor muscles and calves more to get your feet/legs closer together (while still keeping the scissor position). +Strong ankles! PEEK at your feet and make sure that one foot is in front of the other at a comfortable distance vertically (+knees bent), and just a few inches apart horizontally; your turn will be smoother. 2) *Slightly* lean your torso into the direction you're turning, and follow the foot placement chart in the video. It really does feel like I'm channeling the Leaning Tower of Pisa. To take it back a few steps, practice edging statically(in place, without rolling) to get used to leaning on your edges. It is hard. But sounds like you're on your way. Hey LMK how it goes! p.s. thanks for watching!

Hi :D Thanks for your videos, I am quite literally learning with you! I've been trying the T stop for the last few days (at home tough, the weather hasn't been very generous here lately, damned climate change), and while I am not sure I can actually do one yet, I think I got the balance checked out so it's progress :) Can't wait for some sunshine to finally honour us so that I can try this all outside! Have a lovely day :D

it took me ages before i was able to do the parallel turn as shown at the end of your video. I had to first learn crossovers to be able to shift my weight to the direction i was turning too. And still it wouldnt click for me. turning right i was like: im scissoring! im leaning! Im on my edges why wont i turn right and why do i keep going straight? it was only after seeying skatefresh make a distinction between parallel turn and lunge turn. with the lunge turn you go very deep and have most weight on your front foot fully commiting to the turn and wwith parallel turn the weight is more balanced with slightly more to the back. so like 40 percent forward foot and 60 back foot. when i saw the difference in these turns i was able to learn it better. i can do lunge turns on a dime now which has sometimes became my main brake in emergency situations and i can carve down hill with the parallel turn now.

I think it's fascinating that you learned crossovers first. These are really good pointers, appreciate you sharing this! 🤙🏼

@@shannon.skates No problem :) with me I think it was a combination with lack of balance, lack of flexibility and lack of leg strength. So my learning process was: lemon drops, balancing on one leg foot, slow spin stop 180 and later 360. this was my main brake for months. then crossovers and later parallel turns and only after was I able to do t-brake. i was missing strength in my left leg to fully commit leaning into it and having my right foot as the brake. so it took a while. now working on backwards skating and doing some ramps in the skate park. i want to be able to do the power slide but i can only transition to backwards skating at low speeds at the moment. so maybe in a few months :) its a fun adventure. been seriously skating for about 3 years now i think.

@@kingpinda2 You are so dedicated. You sound like an overall great skater. 3 years in and you have all of that under your belt! I hope I can do those things at 3 years too, especially crossovers. 😃
