This is my first attempt at voice-over.
In this tutorial I show you how easy it is to make a very cool wire work cuff bracelet. Very little tools are needed and in 10-15 minutes you have a fabulous cuff that gets noticed.
To learn how to patina/antique with liver of sulfur go to my video
• How To Patina with Liv...
Tools & Materials:
3' of 10 or 12 gauge copper wire (I used 10 gauge for my cuff)
Full flush, heavy duty cutters (mine are Xeron)
Heavy duty round nose pliers or bail making pliers
Nylon jaw pliers
Liver of sulfur (optional)
This wire is thick and will continue to work harden so if you have weak hands, try this with 12 gauge wire or use tools to manipulate the wire easily. I like to antique or patina my copper after and if you are unsure how to do that, check out my Metalwor

I had seen a photo of this bracelet, but your video explained it so clearly. THANK YOU! My friend wears copper to help ward off Covid bugs because copper has antimicrobial properties. She's a scientist so she's read the studies. Perfect gift.

I like this so much. What a beautiful cuff. You are a very good teacher! It would be interesting to figure out how to add some large-hole gemstones for variety. Or maybe just one to the middle. It is great as is of course. Thank you so much!!!😊

Thank tot so much for such an easy and lovely piece to try for my first complete piece instead of just twisting to make shapes lol! I have early arthritis and fibro at 33 so i try to keep my hands moving as much as i can, and as soon as i get the wire i will post you a pic of my finished piece. I hope it looks as awesome as yours does. I'm down in Jacksonville, Florida, but i bet you get much prettier Atlantic waves up there! You live in one of my dream spots to visit! Maybe one day I'll get to see your work in person! Thanks so much! Dani!

That's awesome, Tara. As for a man...did he like the same cuff? If so, I would use another 6" or so of wire, depending on how big his wrist is. Jewelry for men is a gray area with me because of it being manly enough but if a guy is going to wear a cuff, he must be pretty opened minded and accepting of the design.

+Making It Easy with Liz Thanks :) Having so much fun with it, I've made 4 more since this one and have started a Valentines collection. Something to keep in mind if using copper.. If you use recycled Electrical wire, it's 98.9% pure copper and has no chance of containing Arsenic. Found this out myself recently.. it also gives a nice effect when 'finishing' the products.

I wanted to try this right away but the heaviest wire I had was 16 ga copper so I used it & it turned out ok. I think the 12 ga is still a better choice & I intend to make it again when I get some 12 ga wire. After I made the bracelet, I made a ring using the same technique out of the 16 ga. It turned out really well & can be manipulated to wear on any finger because of your design & the lighter weight wire. Thanks a bunch for this inspiring video.

Would like to see more projects using just the wire . Don't like using the beads and tiny wires . Your projects are big , bold and sturdy .

Liz, I have watched a number of your videos. I am so excited to get the materials to get started. One question; How do you keep your manicure flawless??? My nails do not last 5 minutes with my craftwork. What is your secret? Please keep teaching us new techniques!!!

Ha thanks Susan...I paint them that day or the night before and usually looks crappy by the following day. I'm in the same boat. Thanks so much for watching and for your kind feedback.

Nice, very nice yet one might anneal the wire at any point? Heat to yellow and plunge. After some impurities will be on surface but they will brush off quite easily. Just a thought, Cheers!

Liz, I am thinking that heating and quenching the piece would release the work-hardening. It also might color the metal. Have you experimented with this? I'm thinking of using my barbeque , or maybe a torch for this.

Pete Flynn Hi Pete yes, annealing the wire definitely would make it easier to work with but you would need a torch to reach the high heat needed. I try to teach projects with minimal tools and equipment so its doable for everyone. I don't offer those techniques but are an option for the more advanced. Thanks so much for your great question and for watching.

This is beautiful! I love your tutorials and your designs. I also loved visiting Nova Scotia, I'm a bit jealous you are there :) Anyway, I'm wondering how to keep from getting tool marks on the wire, especially such a soft metal and a thick gauge. When I'm trying to manipulate such stiff wire I get lots of marks. I have some coating that you can dip your pliers into to help, but I never see professionals use this so there must be another trick! Thanks for all your help!

Kristy Good Hi Kristy. What part of Nova Scotia did you visit? I live on the south shore, 15 min from Mahone Bay and 20 from Lunenburg. It is beautiful. Tool marks are going to happen and since it's handmade, is a characteristic of the craft but I know what you mean...there are some that are undesirable. Once you have some experience working with wire and you have the confidence in what you are creating, it's easier to place your tools so they don't move a lot. Yes coating them will help either with the rubber dip (I like 3 coats, one right after the other and hang to dry) or painter's tape. You can buff out your tool marks with a small file or sand paper. Thank you so much for watching. If you ever get this way again, we should hook up.

Thanks for that advice Liz! I will keep that in mind. I certainly need to just practice more and I'm sure it will come with time. We did a bit of a road trip, basically circling the entire province. We visited Halifax and then stayed at a B&B on the western side, on the Bay of Fundy. I can't recall the name of the town right now. We had wanted to stay in Lunenburg but didn't get to. It was winter when we visited so I'd love to go back in the summer. I'm sure it's just gorgeous! I will let you know if I do ever get back that way. How kind of you to suggest :)

Thank you Patrick, you're so welcome. I use liver of sulfur gel to patina my copper and sterling silver. I will be selling it on my website, which is under construction at the moment.

Hey Liz, Feel like I know you from all of your videos. You make it all look easy. I was your 1000 thumbs up. LOL. Anyway, I didn't check the other comments, but could you use 14g and then maybe hammer to harden? My hands are fairly weak.

+Kim Lyons Hi Kim, thanks so much for the kind comment and for your support. You could give 14g a try or even 12g if you could manage it. I would suggest making your waves closer together with more of them for more stability...just an idea and anything is worth a try.
