April is a very practical “builder” of things - Matt is a “woodworker”. There’s an overlap, but not the same thing, so this video makes sense.

I love April's thought that Matt would be bothered by the warped board. I also really love this type of design with the slanted shelves. Such a good use of space. I made something similar as a wall sized spice rack for a cook, where as long as you wrote the name of the spice on the jar lids, you knew what everything was, but it used way less space this way. I did angled dados instead of pocket holes and hung with a french cleat though; but for a shop project the quick efficient way prevails. Great work y'all!

This was a good collaboration. You worked well together. And fractions suck. In my shop, feet, inches, half and quarter are sometimes used but anything of precision is metric.

April how well does the Saw stop dust collection work on the over head arm? I see saw dust on the table top a lot in fact, I suspect that the DC was left off form the videoing of this.

The unintentional comedy is gold haha ☺️ Pocked holes are so damn useful. In a month ill get my first house and the entire basement (and garage?) will be for building stuff. Im sure ill learn to glue stuff and make rabbits and all the other pro stuff 😜 What's behind the plywood on the wall? I got concrete block walls in the basement and i cant block moist in between yet i want something i can screw and nail without thinking much... :) Plywood can be replaced!

Behind the plywood in April's shop? It's just regular stick framing and insulation. She has a whole series of videos about building her shop which are excellent and I highly recommend (they're what got me hooked on her channel!)

I got to ask why the walls are covered with plywood ? Did the building /fire code code sign off on it because I always thought you needed to use Sheetrock on walls . Maybe just in my state I don’t know .

April is an insanely talented wood worker!! I have been following her on her channel for about four years now!!! She has a great sense of humor and has wonderful projects!! Wish more women had her talents, but then again April doesn't just slam people like a lot of other women do either, so she is more of a positive influence for EVERYBODY than most people will give her credit for!!!

Matt it just occurred to me that your last name Cremona is synonymous with the area of Italy that is famous for making the worlds best violins, by Antonio Stradivari. The Spruce trees (wood) outside of Genoa and (Cremona where Stradivari is from) make the richest sounding instruments. Violins, Cellos etc. Are your ancestor from there? Is it a grand coinsidence that your passion for wood, comes from this? Please get back to me.....

It will be cheaper than Kreg. Kreg is grossly overpriced (at least it is here in the UK) Triton pocket hole jig is roughly half the price of Kreg jig

I used my hands as a hammer for 30 years because speed mattered. I'm now 70 trying to do stuff in my shop and am in rehab because my hands won't close properly. BEWARE!!

Hey April! Please don't take this the wrong way, because I am not a hater. It is just curiosity ever since you showed us what the shop was going to look like. Ok, here it is, why the huge shop with the really high ceilings that will make it a pain to cool and heat? Do you plan on making a second floor? I think it is great you have two designated areas for welding and other metal work. At some point do you plan on expanding your business where there will be more employees will be hired? I think of these questions everytime you or someone talks in the vast shop and you can hear an echo. there's no judgment just curiosity. Thank you ahead of time.!!

I can't speak for April but generally speaking 12' eves are standard on shop buildings over 2K²'. A lot of vehicles and equipment exceed 8' in height, basically requiring a 10' door which usually requires a 12' eve. Building a shop that size with less than 12' eves would devalue it from a resale perspective IMO. Plus, she's from Texas.......

Also in hot climates it is better to have higher ceilings so the heat gathers up high and not right where your head is, therefore keeping you cooler.

Double the bottom number...i.e. half of 5/8 (.625) is 5/16 (.3125).

@@ericcorse - I am of an age where I was taught linear measurement in both Imperial and Metric, slap bang at the time when we were in the throws of metrification. I am able to work in both and as a boat-builder, more often than not find myself working in Imperial. Metric is easier, full-stop. I'm not having to do fractional division, I just have to work to the nearest "1" or at a pinch half. Plus, it's all multiples of ten, so even a mathematical simpleton (I'm actually numerically challenged and have dyslexia) can manage to do the maths without too much hassle.

Yeah lol, too bad it looked goofy as hell. Very under sized cabriole legs for aesthetics and drawers so high you can't even see in them lol. He's a good woodworker but he lacks good design big time.
