Every job I’ve had to do a pre-employment drug screen. I’ll pass, get the job, and then find out more than half of the other employees smoke weed, drink and do all sorts of crazy shit. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Some states are doing the right thing and banning marijuana discrimination. States like New York are hopefully paving the way for marijuana users to not have to fear drug tests and unjust practices... for the most part at least. No employer should ever be able to control what you do off the clock.

Hey everyone, just passed my drug test! I was a very heavy smoke for over 10 years. I even worked for a number of years at a grow house, I quit smoking in June 23 2022 and took my test on September 23 2022. Spent the entire weekend totally freaking out just watching KZfaq videos and reading comments about people not passing their tests after months of being drug free... but I got my call b from my employer saying I passed my test and they're excited for the next step in my career path. So I just wanted to leave my comments about what my experience was. I hope this helps guys! Stay strong.

My husband was just forced to resign from his job of nearly 7 years because he failed a random (DOT) for a legal delta 8 gummy. First random he ever failed! Guys from his work would come in with hangovers from alcohol all the time and could barely function. My husband always came to work fully alert and NEVER ate an edible on the clock. It makes absolutely no sense. 😞

I HATE the fact that weed is federally illegal still. I'm getting my 100 ton captains license and quit smoking 2 months ago. I was a long term smoker and pray I pass, I quit the day I found out about this job opportunity. It's just a joke that it's illegal, I should be able to smoke at home. I don't drink because i have stomach problems, weed is so much less dangerous and I always felt I have full control of myself when smoking. Drinking is the absolute opposite, you're out of control and often make bad decisions... yet it's been legal for several years. Pathetic law. I would and will never smoke on a job, I simply want to smoke when I'm home and now I never can again unless miraculously it's federally legalized. I really pray that happens in my lifetime

I had a interview with Frito Lay and they did the hair.. they honestly gave me a heads up about the test a week before while waiting for background check so I had a whole week to get this clean.. I stopped the day I walked out the interview.. I passed by this system.. drinking a lot of water.. sweating a lot playing sports and running.. soaked my hair in clear vinegar for 15 minutes before I showered then washed it out.. the day of, I used a detox shampoo.. and I passed.. she took both my armpit hair..

To everyone on here wondering. Was taking at home 50ng tests from 30 days clean up to the day i took my drug screen at almost 14 weeks clean and still getting faint lines on my at home tests. They were getting alot darker as time went on. Took a few 15ng tests and those were super faint. Made me super nervouse. Took my test earlier this and was informed i passed. My urine was lab tested too

Too funny how all of these Dr's tell you to give it time to clear your system, employers give you 5 days to to the test not weeks and months...

These tests have to do better. If you consume whatever when on your own time what business is it to your employer? If you come ready to work and sober why do they use tests that dont reflect that, ie basic UA? These test dont give accurate "time of use" stamps and cause problems because you lose good employees for nothing.

The length of time marijuana shows up in the hair test is determined by the length of hair that is tested, not by rates of metabolism. Most gair tests are for the prior 3 months, so they test 1.5” of the hair that is closest to the scalp. If they want to test for longer units of time, they take longer hair samples-assuming you have that much hair (hint, hint). They can test body hair back for the prior year.

In Michigan it says they are not allowed to watch a person unless it is on a federal level, like probation or jail. I have a test coming up in the next couple weeks and I am a frequent user because of seizures and very bad back pain . I am thinking of using a synthetic urine as a way to test because I don’t have enough time to get clean, even if I am using a detox. What do you think Doc?

the fact that things are more lenient with smoking seriously makes me question about why people get so antsy about weed. dude, its pretty simple to answer that. the reason why it's made into such a big deal is because it is perceived to be such a big deal among corporate and insurance companies. the fact you have thc in your system doesn't mean that you are high, and doesn't mean that you are liable to be high at the workplace. but they wont test for alcohol. it isn't the substance that is the problem, it's the perception from society. i had just quit my factory job at GM after a few months there and i became an infrequent smoker (vaped concentrates like, every other couple days or so per week so about 3-4 times a week) and went by the "get high to get by" strat. it helped kinda until my side boss threatened to fire me after i requested to be off a job because the job they were going to put me on had injured me. as a temp i had NO rights and NO berievement (among many other things too as a temp for 2 years). thankfully i had enough and had quit right then and there. now here i am watching these videos because the other jobs that i can get i need to test for, even though i wont be operating in public safety environments or in heavy equipment. i do believe that we need to be tested sure, but i dont believe that we should be held discrimative because of what we do on our free time. let me test a soccer mom who wants to be a teacher. if i see that she drinks and i see a shriveled up liver, she cant be a teacher because of a threat that she will be drunk in the classroom. it isn't about a violation of privacy but rather a violation of basic human rights that are trying to get their act and lives together so they dont have to depend on a substance IF they are depending on it. nobody wants to go to a rehab center and be fed the "it is all okay" "everything is just peachy" bs, empty lies as they make your family poorer just to see you pretend to be better. its demoralizing and dehumanizing. there must be a better way and it starts, in my honest foresight, with the jobs pre-employment tests to see if they smoke or drink or do any illicit substances. hopefully most jobs that dont require it, will remove that requirement and will look the other way but by the way that we are seeing from insurance companies that are aligned with other jobs, that will be a hard pill for that stubborn horse to swallow.

Im a pot head from Illinois, I got laid off from my job in November of 2022 from economic slowdown at my company. I started looking for a new job right away, stopped buying weed because I couldn't afford it. Since it was right before the holidays, I ended up not getting any job offers until after the new year, I had to take a pre employment drug test on Jan 28th 2023, before starting my new job on the 30th. I got some drug tests from Walgreens and tested myself at home, made sure id pass before setting up my official drug test appointment

On avg it takes 6-7 weeks for your system to be clear of the THC metabolites for you to pass a urine drug test. This is for the avg smoker, someone who smokes a joint a day everyday. You need to allow 42-49 days to get your urine clean.

How soon after offer letter would they schedule a test? I just accepted my offer letter for a promotion and was blindsided after accepting by an email saying I would be receiving another email about background and drug test. Now I'm freaking out, had no clue a drug test would be part of the promotion. But now I have no clue if it's going to be scheduled today, this week, or even later.... He said that hair testing will show up weed up to 90 days after last use, which is 3 times longer than urinalysis, which is why employers are increasingly choosing hair follicle testing. Wtf?? If you have stopped smoking for 1 month then you are not an addict and are most certainly not affected by THC and even moreso if you stopped smoking 3 months ago so how can these b@stards justify this? It should be saliva, which is positive like 1-3 days after last use, or nothing, because you aren't too affected to perform your employment duties 3 days after smoking, that's just silly. Alcohol is as debilitating or arguably more debilitating to your work performance (depending on your occupation of course but in generalities) and much much worse for your health. Imagine if they came up with a test you had to pass to keep your job and it showed if you had a big weekend 2.9 months ago! 😡

Hey Doc. I purchased your recommended drug test at home kit. Regarding THC, my first urination of the day usually shows a faint second line. My second always has a very strong second line. For DOT testing, will they force me to redo my test if my urine is slightly diluted due to water intake? It still shows color (greenish yellow) but is not a dark yellow. I never urinate dark yellow unless I’m dehydrated which is rare because I drink over a gallon of water daily. I have been clean 31 days as a past heavy user of THC and my test is in 15 days. Would you recommend I postpone my test given I have the option, or rather just urinate when I wake up before my test and give them my second or third urination of the day since it seems to always pass. If they make me re-do it on the spot, it will still be diluted I feel! If that makes sense.

So cut off levels for marijuana 50ng/mL and cutoff confirm 15ng/mL Fed guidelines 49 40 for labs say to use the same cutoff level in initial and confirmation for the urine sample….meaning so if i had a GC/ms test done and my number is 40ng/mL, I fail right off the bat???

Doc, The last time I smoked was about 2 weeks ago and my test is most likely in a week (my guess is they’ll test on the first day) but I’ve been taking Niacin pills in order to detox. Ive done 2000 mlg about 4 times, plus I enjoy a drink or two every now and then. I’m signed up for West Coast EMT in Southern California, any info you can give me on my chances? Hello ! Here’s my question sir. My friend is being stressed about upcoming drug test for his CDL. He haven’t smoked exactly 7 months. He been smoking multiple times a day for quite long time. He quit cold turkey for the job for 7 straight months. He bought all available at home drug tests at walmart, cvs, walgreens. Each test he does shows negative ! He does it already for a week. Morning urine, day time urine all shows negative. two solid lines! But he still worried. Can u also explains differences between 50 ng/ml and 15ng/ml which is more accurate? Or if he passes 50 they don’t check for 15ng Because those test are all 50ng/ml. Please please HELP

I been on the computer all day I'm just going to pay for a hair follicle test just to be on the safe side and see if I passed. It's been like 3 months and 2 weeks. I will come back with an update. I just didn't want to buy home test. I will pay the experst $229 for the test at the Dr. Office.

Maximo Method… Look it up. Will absolutely fry your scalp and hair but if you do it right there’s a good chance you pass. I smoked all summer did the Maximo method for 5-7 days and passed my hair test.

Quick question doc, I only take 1 lung full of smoke at night before bed to help me sleep, that's it, nothing else. I'm a fairly slim guy (160 lbs, 5' 9" tall) and I have a pretty fast metabolism... I barely smoke weed, first time was last April and the last time was last Friday (the 20th). My employment is supposed to start on February 13th and I'm so fucking scared I'm gonna fail the hair test. I was planning on shaving my hair even before this, so I thought that would help. But once I learned it can be detected with body hair too, that's when I started to worry. It's so unfair how occasional use of a relatively harmless drug could impact something this much

I am not a frequent user and smoked about 6 times between Friday and Sunday. Literally 1 or 2 hits each time. On Friday I had a drug test and been testing negative on different home test since Wednesday. I took the test for pre employment and am waiting on the results. I am overweight. Do you think it's possible the lab will detect it being that the home test were negative?

If you stopped ingesting marijuana and detoxed then later tested negative on a urine test, is that an indication that the body stopped growing contaminated hair? Or does the body continue to grow "dirty" hair for up to 90 day regardless of a negative urine test result?

Hey Doc, I don’t really smoke but the day I do turns out that there doing drug test at my job I smoked 3 days ago and now my drug test is in 5 days it was my first time smoking in like 4 years, how far back does a urine test go do you think I would be alright.

National Guard, I’m fat, 26%-29% body fat. Did not have drill in July, so… as soon as we got out of June drill, I smoked pot nearly every day till June 26th. (I went to a dispensary and bought all kinds of flower.) I used bongs, bubblers and pipes. Mixed the pot together and made joints from 9 different strains. I quit June 26th, then on July 2nd a friend stop by. We got wasted and I took a bong hit. July 30th started annual training. And immediately a UA was given. Three days prior to AT, I drank a gallon of water every day. On the day of the test, (because I knew it was coming.) I woke up 3 1/2 hours before formation and drank 3-4, 28oz water from my yeti cup. And some coffee. I peed several times before the test, once nearly 5 minute before. STRAIGHT CLEAR WATER came out of my PEE PEE hole. If my sample isn’t selected, I win, if it’s tested it’s diluted. Usually 21-30 days is enough to pass for not heavy smokers. The army also doesn’t fail you for Diluted urine. Been doing this for 16 years!!! I will always take the at home drug tests the week before drill. They have either clearly negative indications or faint negatives. My GF smokes everyday for the past 4 years. She took one and it was instantly positive from the same box I used. As some older NCO told me “Dilution is the solution.” Until the army decides to use hair follicle testing. Dilute dilute dilute! The Medic looking at my urine sample said “this isn’t even testable.” You’re welcome fellow National Guards.

Hello sir. So I had a pre employment drug screening. It's probably been about 40ish days since the last time I used. But definitely more than 30. I'm 5'9 180. I've taken multiple home drug test. All with a negative result. I even went to an urgent care which also resulted in a negative result. The office were I had my pre employment test taken, sends out their samples to a lab for testing. I did one of no's I guess. and drink water before my pre employment test. My urine was more misty with a bit of yellow. But water is all I really drink though. juice and soda I stay away from because of the sugar. And I'm prone to diabetes. I guess my question is, do you think my sample will yield a positive result? Since it was sent to a lab? Are their tests different?

Buy a box of Certo... A big bottle of Gatorade and mix the Certo into the Gatorade bottle. And take some B12 vitamins after. Do this 3 hours before you take the test and drink lots of water. And you'll pass!

What if your test shows 20 quantitative? For 50ng/ml. Is that a lot over the limit or little over? How long would it take to test negative after this result?

I failed a test in 1988. I got called into the superintendents office and he broke the news to me. I was ready and told him I live with a few dudes who smoke weed all day and probably got it that way. He said that’s cool but it doesn’t explain the four other substances in your system ha ha. I had some clean urine when I went in for the test but forgot to keep it warm and the lady dumped it so they ended up getting my hot sample.
