I stayed one week in Naples this winter (Last week of december) and for me the biggest danger in this city is for your waistline. I gained 4 kilos in one week.

My mother once fell while walking on Naples streets: in no time two drivers stopped the cars and went out to help, another guy brought her a chair and a lady passing by offered her a coffee and a glass water. Try to find another city in the world with people like these! XD

Sono andata a Napoli nel novembre 2019, da sola, una donna. Tanta gente mi ha detto sarei sicura se facessi attenzione alla borsa e alla zona come ogni città nel mondo. Immagino ci sono le zone in ogni città per una persona da evitare come turista. Sono stata più attenta della borsa del normale, ma per 2 giorni da sola era un'esperienza mi manca tanto. Ho camminato per ora dopo ora. Ho mangiato da sola e i proprietari mi hanno fatto compagnia perché ho parlato in italiano a loro. Sono tornata al mio albergo presto, e ho cenato presto e vicino mio albergo, ma mi sentivo piena di gioia di dirvi la verità perché è andata così bene e ho visto questa città bellissima. Non ho avuto nessun problema con nessuno. Napoli è una città affollata, rumorosa, piena di vita. Non è calma e tranquilla. Forse non è per tutti ma sono contenta di avere l'opportunità di condividere una bella esperienza. Scusami gli errori. Non sono brava alla concordanza di tensi verbali.

I was for a month in Napoli and I fell in love with the city. I was initially there for a week but I loved it too much. Many people say it is dangerous, but coincidentally they are always white 1st world country people. Sorry for the stereotype, but for them, everything that has a bit of trash in the street is dangerous. I was walking by and taking pictures around “dangerous areas” according to some in the Quartieri Spagnoli e Barra, because I wanted to see the Salvador Allende mural and the people was nothing but extremely helpful. Sure, maybe I could have experienced something, Idk, maybe I was lucky, but people were amazing. I honestly can’t emphasize that enough. They saw me with my camera taking pictures and they were pointing me places to see, asking me where I was from, genuinely interested in me, and I don’t know, I wouldn’t believe I was that lucky to experience all that. I will always remember going around one day near Materdei Station and I was a bit lost walking outside and an old man saw and he started asking me where I was from and if I needed any help. I told him I was ok and he started talking to me for like 15 mins. It was awesome. The food is the best I have ever tried in my life but for me… for me it is the people. Do you need to be careful? Sure, like everywhere. I am from South America and I am used to that but if you are showing off your money around people who don’t have that much, seriously, what would you expect? I am even typing this with some tears in my eyes because every single time I think about Napoli I feel like I am there. I really, really want to come back soon. Napoli nel mio cuore per sempre ❤️.

I was in Napoli a few years ago and I was amazed at the safety I felt at 3 am !! The whole piazza was full of people and not one single fight or bad behavior. I absolutely love Napoli. I loved it so much that I want to return and buy a home there. The people there are warm, passionate, and the city is always ALIVE. Please do more videos like this one from Napoli! They are my absolute favorite and I learn so much every time.

Wow! I am a Napolitan. Left the city more than 15 years ago when I was 33 yo. I miss my Napoli so much and then I read so many comments here of people fallen in love with my city! It brings tears to my eyes, so badly! Napoli is unique, as a whole! It's not for everybody, but if you are passionate, if you have an artistic soul, if you are emphatic you cannot but fall in love with it! I feel so sorry my children are not benefitting from all I had the chance to benefit from while growing up in Napoli. Thanks for all these lovely comments, it makes me so proud! I spent 5 nights in Napoli during my honeymoon and my wife absolutely fell in LOVE with this beautiful city. We never felt unsafe and were in awe of the friendly and welcoming Napoletani. Granted we live near NYC and honestly found the chaotic energy to be quite similar. We are already planning to back in the spring.

Visited Napoli 3 times, twice for a month each and once for two weeks. My favorite city in Italy, good people, passionate, great hospitality and exceptional food. I can easily name 10 cities across the globe more dangerous.

Napoli e' stata la prima citta' italiana che ho visitato (nel 2011), era anche il mio primo viaggio turistico da solo. Mi sono innamorato di questa citta' credo per sempre. Non era il periodo migliore, c'era la crisi di spazzatura e la situazione era grave. Arrivando dall' aeroporto sono sceso dal pulman sulla piazza Garibaldi di sera e ho visto i mucchi di spazzatura, non aspettavo di vedere il paesaggio cosi in Europa. Ma poi sono riuscito di vedere tantissime cose belle e questo non era difficile, perche' Napoli e' una citta piena di cose belle, della gente meravigliosa che sanno essere felici nonostante le difficolta quotidiane. Per me Napoli e' la citta' piu' italiana che ho visitato. Sono tornato piu' volte come turista e nel 2017 abbiamo fatto il giro per l'Italia con i miei genitori. La mia mamma di tutte le citta' che abbiamo visitati (Napoli, Roma, Firenze, Verona, Venezia) ricorda sempre Napoli come la piu' accogliente, piu' impressionante, la citta' che ti fa perdere la testa. --- L'ultima volta sono stato a Napoli nel marzo 2019 e ho notato tante differenze con la citta' che ho visto nel 2011. Si, e' stata piu' sicura, molto piu' pulita, anche molto piu' turistica, ma purtroppo diventando piu' turistica perde un po' il suo fascino. Bisogna preservare tutte le particolarita', il carattere e tutto cio' che distingue Napoli. Viva Napoli! :)

I love Napoli. I've visited several times, appreciate the cultural treasures of the city, enjoy its colour, food, vibe, energy, friendliness and charm, and also the fierce pride of it's residents. I have also seen pickpockets in action, and hate to admit that twice, they tried it on me too. Like any large and complicated city with a wide gap between rich and poor (most cities!) it is inherently necessary to use caution, be aware of your surroundings, and stay attentive. But, nicer people you will not find anywhere. Ask for help, and Napolitani respond willingly and quickly. The city is beautiful, as are it's residents.

Naples is the warmest, most friendly city I have ever visited. It’s one of my favourite places in the world. I have never once felt unsafe there. The cautionary rules that apply also apply to every city. Yes it’s gritty, but that is part of it’s charm

After travelling through Italy quite a lot in the last few years i've visited Napoli this november, and i must say it's my favorite city in Italy. The people, the food, the architecture and Neapolitan tailoring are out of this world, AMAZING. Never really felt unsafe(although the traffic took some time to get used to), even while partying in the nightclubs of the Quartieri Spagnoli. The only area that i don't recommend is the central station and streets around Piazza Garibaldi which seemed to be the place where many thugs and other suspicious individuals where hanging out.

Da italoamericano che e' stato a Napoli due volte, ogni volta per 4 o 5 giorni, dico che e' una citta' magnifica. Per me era sicura, non pericolosa. E spero che gli Americani e gli altri si fermino di pensare di Napoli come una citta pericolosa. Vanno alla costiera amalfitana e Capri e Pompeii durante le vacanze ma in generale non vanno a Napoli centro per mangiare una bella pizza o vedere il Cristo Velato. Spero che questa cambi, o se no, meno male! Meno turisti ignoranti che trasformano la citta' in una Venezia per esempio, dove il turismo rovina molto.

Io sono Palestinese e il mio primo viaggio dentro l'Italia era verso Napoli. Ci vado quando posso. La città è assolutamente ricca e i napolitani sono molto simpatici. Lo adoro.

I have been over 15 times to Napoli, it is my favourite city in Italy. Like the Neapolitans self are saying, it is not more dangerous than any other big city. For me Napoli is as safe as my hometown Rotterdam. And I am always happy in Napoli.

I’ve been to Naples from UK. and if your sensible don’t flash watches and jewellery try to speak a little Italian it’s perfectly safe. The best Pizza for a few euros. We were in Naples as part of a family Christmas tour around italy a couple of years ago. My kids enjoyed the food and the sights, even while walking at night. My only regret was not staying an extra day or two. The people of Naples were kind, considerate and always offered help. The only thing that scared me was the driving.

I visited Naples several times, I felt no fear either morning or evening, only excitement. Great food, great people, great seaview, it's a wonderful city and everyone should visit it at least once in their lives. 🙏♥️

I loved Napoli the 2 times I visited. It was the only place ever that I was whistled at from a car! I was flattered! Maybe they were whistling at my friend, but we both thought it was so funny. Delicious food! Amazing views, beautiful people. We also went to Ercolano, Sorrento, Paestum, and drove around the Amalfi coast. Bellissimo!

I passed through Naples about 15 years ago. Then it had a very different feel than the rest of Italy- I'm a New Yorker and it reminded me a bit of urban neighborhoods that are poorer- there was lots of graffiti, clothes hung out to dry.. IT felt like how I imagine Brooklyn, NY felt in the 50's very rough and tumble. BUT the people were so friendly and felt warmer than in the rest of Italy...which I know is part of the stereotype the positive ones- that the South the folks are friendlier more laid back. I didn't get to see anything historical which I wish I had.

Adoro Napoli, è una città assolutamente incantevole. Secondo me, gli stereotipi sono una semplice riduzione (molto spesso negativa) di un popolo. Anche di notte, anche come straniera, mi sentivo veramente al mio aggio. È un posto da sogno, non vedo l'ora di poter tornarci!

I have been to Napoli for half of year as erasmus student. People have been telling me I am crazy to go there, so many crime, dirt etc. but I have to say Napoli is absolutely fascinating, I met many people helping me out, I was walking through all quartieri alone as foreigner. Of course, it has its negatives as well because its very densely populated. Even when I came back, one woman asked me if "they" left me alone. Why they shouldn't? Some people has just closed minds watching too many movies.

Napoli è una città affascinante. Io ci sono stata e non ha successo niente chi mi ha fatto timore. Ma come una grande città si deve fare attenzione con le persone e con i posti che si va! Spero di ritornare presto per questo luogo magnifico.

C'era un periodo in cui andavo spesso a Napoli per lavoro, ma non solo, e penso di conoscerla bene.. Non ho mai avuto alcun problema, anzi. E', senza dubbio, la mia città preferita in assoluto. Non fossi ormai avanti con gli anni, ci andrei a vivere.

I visited Napoli with my daughter in 2017. She planned the trip and surprised me with a tour of Pompeii, which I had always wanted to visit. At first, when she told me we were going to Napoli, I was a little worried about crime, pickpockets, etc. But, our trip was in August, and there were not many people in the city. We had an absolutely wonderful time and Pompeii was the cream on top of the trip. The only incident we had was when we were waiting for a taxi to go to the airport at 5 a.m., 3 drunk guys approached us. They were not insistent and just walked on, but it did worry us a little.

Parlo da grande giramondo ed espatriata: Napoli non è assolutamente più pericolosa di città come Parigi o Barcellona. L’ho trovata anzi estremamente accogliente e vivibile. Come ovunque, basta un po’ di esperienza cosmopolita su dove e quando curiosare per i quartieri più disparati. In ogni caso si respira un’aria magica e unica!

I live in Bucharest and I found Napoli to be very similar with so many people and construction sites... But it was filled with history and art and I fell in love with it. Maybe you do have to be a bit more careful but I think it depends on the area you are walking through (my host told me to keep my golden chains at home). I didn't feel any more in danger than I did where I live and I have to say that the drivers are worse in Bucharest than in Napoli

Is it dangerous and has a lot of problems? Hell yes. The most dangerous city in the world? No, not by a long shot, especially when you think of of cities like Johannesburg, San Pedro Sula, Mogadishu, Kingston JA, several cities in the U.S., Brazil, etc. It's not even in the same category.

In Naples, the worst that can happen is someone demands your wallet, you give it to them, and they run away. In Baltimore, they'll shoot you, take your wallet, then run away.

I've been to Naples with my son a few times, both day and night. We've never had any security problems, even because in big cities, you have to stay 100% alert. I am Brazilian, I know several big cities in Brazil and in the world and I can say that Naples is among the safest. One thing that caught my attention is that Naples reminds me a lot of the city of Santos-SP. Congrats to the people of Naples!

Sono stata a Napoli a Settembre l’anno scorso, da quello che ho visto mi sembra che la frase “Napoli si può amare o odiare” sia corretta. A me è piaciuta, però non ci vivrei. Secondo me è molto affascinante com’è variabile questa città in diverse zone, questo appunto crea un clima unico di Napoli. Non ci ho passato abbastanza tempo per dire se è pericolosa e non vorrei fondare la mia opinione su film e libri, che certamente sono basati sulla realtà, ma non sempre e non nel 100%. L’unica cosa di cui sono sicura è che ne vale la pena visitare Napoli;) bellissimo video!

I recently spent three weeks in Italy: Rome, Florence, Sardinia and Naples. Naples was my favorite city. I never felt unsafe and there was something new around every corner. The Duomo was amazing!

Ciao!!! Nel 2019 siamo stati io e mia moglie a Napoli, e ci siamo fermati in un B&B vicino al quartiere dove si prende il funicolare per andare al Vomero. Madonna Santa!!! ci dava paura. ma niente è accaduto anche se alcune notte arrivavamo proprio tardi. Per arrivare al B&B dovevamo attraversare uno stretto e lungo vicolo assai buio, eravamo molto attenti ma mai è successo niente, tanto noi siamo argentini, abitiamo a Buenos Aires, siamo abituati al pericolo. Ma veramente abbiamo passato delle giornate bellissime, una città meravigliosa. Abbraccione!!!

Who could honestly say it is the most in the world? I am a U.S. citizen and have been in some of our worst hoods. Naples doesn't even begin to compare. You can literally feel it in the air when you enter our worst places. The murder rate in Naples doesn't even begin to compare. Heck, I'm in San Diego, and even our crime stats shadow Naples, lol.

We were in Naples for New Years a couple weeks ago and stayed near Garibaldi Square. I never felt like I was in any danger of being attacked or hurt, but the area wasn't great and there were always large crowds of people in front of our building. My brother's phone was stolen by a pickpocket in one of those crowds, so as with any big city, just be careful.

I really appreciate this video. I live in Napoli now. I would say the scariest thing is the driving 😂😂 but once you get used to it (just the lack of stopping) it’s fine. There is an issue with the trash removal, and it’s really bad in certain suburbs. But it’s a stunning city, vibrant with its own unique culture and rich history.

Da Napoletano che ci vivo da 47 anni ed ho avuto modo di girare anche un po' il mondo, ho sempre pensato che Napoli vista dal di fuori da una percezione alterata della criminalità, devo dire che negl'ultimi 10/15 anni è migliorata molto sotto questo aspetto e penso che si viva meglio a Napoli che in altre metropoli Italiane, la criminalità c'è ma non nell'entità che vogliono fare passare, fateci caso quando accade qualcosa di cronaca a Napoli si tende molto a colpevolizzare la città mentre quando accade un'evento di cronaca simile altrove in quel caso non si colpevolizza mai la città di turno ma si colpevolizzano soltanto gli attori che hanno partecipato alla brutta faccenda in questione mentre per un'analoga faccenda a Napoli sembra che tutta la città sia colpevole, questo cosa vi fa pensare? che ci sono dei pregiudizi forti verso Napoli e non verso e soltanto i responsabili di quel brutto comportamento.

Ma si, Napoli è come tutte le altre grandi città! Andate e godetevela che è bellissima❤️PS: il museo di Pietrarsa, ancora poco conosciuto, è MERAVIGLIOSO, e la location sul golfo è SPETTACOLARE❤️❤️❤️❤️

I love Napoli, the culture, the food, the people ...... I used to travel to Rome every year and I must spend few days in Napoli. I don't find Napoli more dangerous than other places in Italy even travelling alone (as a woman). Well, I am a person who travel also alone in India !! hahaha

Sono stato a Napoli con mia moglie diverse volte e posso dire di sentirmi abbastanza al sicuro quando ci vado, al contrario di quello che accade quando vado a Bologna, a Rimini oppure a Milano, città nelle quali mi guardo sempre le spalle. Ho trascorso un Capodanno a Napoli e uno a Firenze e indovinate dove mi sono sentito maggiormente in pericolo? A Firenze. A Napoli, al massimo, correvo il rischio di ingrassare ; a Firenze invece c'era da avere paura. Non nego che Napoli possa avere le sue zone off-limits, ma se si viaggia in zone come il Lungomare o Piazza del Plebiscito, non vedo questo gran pericolo.

Mi sono sentito come a Città del Messico, molto simile. Non mi sono mai sentito insicuro, non vuol dire che sia una città sicura perché so che anche nelle città migliori c'è criminalità. Consiglio davvero ai turisti questo super posto del Mediterraneo italiano

sono stato a napoli una volta. due ore dopo essere arrivato mi hanno rubato il cellulare e il portafoglio a piazza plebiscito e nonestamente di citta' migliori in Italia ne ho viste come Roma o Firenze.

Io sono un napoletano che L ha lasciata 24 anni fa perché mi sposai con una straniera. Ogni volta che torno a Napoli la vedo cambiata in meglio rispetto a quando la lasciai si nota la spinta positiva che ha portato come ad esempio il turismo. È vero che ci sono molti giovani che sono costretti ad emigrare ma credo il problema non è solo a Napoli ma lo vedo in Italia in generale frutto delle cattive politiche clientelari del passato che purtroppo molti giovani stanno pagando le conseguenze

It sounds really nonsense to include Naples within the 10 most dangerous cities in the world. The world is full of cities with really high homicide rates and violence rates, but Naples doesn't even come close to that. As an Italian, the worst thing I feel could happen to me when I'm in Naples is having my wallet stolen (that's something you know you must pay attention to, probably because Naples is the only metropolis located in a poor area in Italy), but I never felt unsafe like something could happen to me physically there. That's not the type of crime that happens there, it's much more low-key

Just got back. Safe, fun, friendly, was in a fancy neighborhood (Chiaia). People were nice, helpful , downright sweet with me. One warning: the cars and motorcycles do come right up to a few centimeters. It’s frightening at first until you realize that it’s just intensely crowded so everyone takes space and makes space. No one got hit nor hit anyone, it’s a glorious madness!

Napoli non è mai perigliosa per un turisto. All'inizio, questa città puo fare paura, puo sorprendere perché l'atmosfera è molto speciale : è rumoroso, abbastanza caotico, è una città dove molte famiglie poveri abitanno ancora nel centro storico (sopratutto nei quartieri spagnoli). Ma infatto, Napoli è la città più affascinante dell'Italia Greetings from France 🇨🇵 😉

Sono andata a Napoli qualche anno fa e non mi sono sentita in pericolo, ho trovato la città bellissima e la gente molto simpatica ☺️, mi è piaciuta tantissima questa città (forse più di altre città italiane) e mi piacerebbe tornare un giorno. Non capisco questa "paura" di Napoli. Ovviamente come in tutte le città nel mondo ci sono posti dove è meglio non andare e dobbiamo anche fare attenzione ma questo è dappertutto.

Sono messicano e voglio essere in Napoli per perfezionare il mio italiano, adesso voglio far lo skateboard in Napoli quando me ne arrive uwu.

Sono stato a Napoli diverse volte, anche recentemente, che sia una città pericolosa lo può essere nella stessa misura di altre grandi città e concordo pienamente coi commenti rilasciati da tutti gli intervistati.. Napoli è una città bellissima, molto migliorata negli ultimi anni.. che va per certi versi però ancora migliorata nella ricezione e nei servizi.. è una città da questo punto di vista un po complicata.. ma girandoci, parlo da turista, non si avverte affatto tutta sta pericolosità.. Forza Napoli..

Stato a Napoli più volte … grande città grande cibo grande accoglienza e grande popolo (non tutti purtroppo) basta stare un po’ attenti a quei pochi ladruncoli

viaggiando in tantissimi paesi e città varie l'unico - dico unico - scippo davanti i miei occhi è avvenuto ahimè a Napoli nella strada dei presepi. Anni dopo per lavoro per effettuare una campagna topografica e di videoispezioni ci si è dovuto affiancare un vigile per segnalarci un gruppo di ragazzi dall'altro lato della strada che puntava alla nostra attrezzatura... per il resto è una bellissima città.

La cordialità del popolo, la storia di Napoli, la bellezza culturale, il clima... A Napoli vive tanta brava gente, onesta e con lavori rispettosi. La criminalità è un problema politico che si trova ovunque. Tutte le grande città hanno i loro problemi, ma su di Napoli si tende a rovesciare tutto il negativo. Non è così. Napoli è vita, è sole, allegra, amore. Vedi Napoli è bellissima!

Perhaps to get a more true perspective of how safe or not would be to ask tourists. Asking a local is not beneficial because 9 times out of 10 they will defend where they live. I've been to Naples and of all the regions in Italy that I've visited to date (over 11) Naples felt very gritty perhaps due to the overwhelming graffiti. I went with a group several years ago but as a female solo traveler would feel very uncomfortable navigating alone.
