Get a pair of hemostats and clip them to your shirt when you’re trying to bounce around the rocks and not carrying your gear. They are amazing hook outs for small to medium fish. Keep up the great work 👍

I miss my dad! I loved fishing with him, he was my best friend. We would fish and if someone was having a bad day and needed food he/we would give them our fish or go catch some for them because I was also free diving a bit. It was the time together we enjoyed, not the catch so much but we enjoyed that too. He was a really good cook.

The legal size for goat fish in hawaii is if you catch it with a pole it only has to be 5 inches if you go diving it has to be 8 inches

A way to keep your seasoning from chunking up is to add a little rice to the bottle

Trick for keeping the moisture out of your seasoning ; Add a few grains of rice, dried beans, peas or similar to each container of seasoning; they will absorb any moisture in the vessel and keep the important bits nice and dry. Thanks for yet another great vid :)

Use the bubble float and a fly lure that we use here in Hawaii to catch papio. Use the little plastic worms they work good also. Another tip. Go early mornings. Like when its still kinda dark. That is the best time to go. Those brown spiky fish you can eat them

Hey ace!! i noticed this beach you’re at is Black Rock in kaanapali maui, this is one of the places my family and i always visit each year. i go to maui to visit my family every summer and we love coming to this spot because of the rock you can jump off and the snorkeling is super awesome. i love all your vids, keep up the fishin dude!!!!

that purple goatfish is called a "moana kali" normally when spearfishing or snorkeling u can find octopus near those purple goatfish underwater. awesome man hopefully someday we get to fish when your back on maui

Hey Ace, I really recommend tying your spoon at the bottom of your sabiki rig. Gives it some flash, adds weight, and also just another chance to hook up as well. Let me know what you think.

Aloha Ace! love watching your Hawaii series as I live on the big island but the Wrasse you caught in the beginning's Hawaiian name is "Hinalea" and the Sargent fish you caught directly after that is called "Manini" in Hawaii also translated to "small or insignificant" because they are usually no bigger than your hand.

You should try to catch some of the smallmouth in Hawaii, they populate the the creeks on the islands and I've heard they fight even harder than mainland fish

@@savragon ah I see, I’ve used shrimp caught from a shrimp boat that most people would use as food. It was just such a good price on the shrimp per pound it basically wasn’t even more than it would be for bait. But still there’s a big difference between live and dead. I imagine clam is expensive as hell, but I’ve never used it really.
